I wonder what you guys will think on my opinion of Viego đ
Simp king but relatable so I would say great charector
the ruined king was a faceless figure for 10 years so for u older player that had years of experiencing him as a big bad guy he was a bit disappointing, instead of a 1 dimentional final boss we got a 1 dimentional skiny simp and only 2 of the many caracter that had teir life ruined by him are actualy fighting him in the end and it seam like tresh got free from the iseles and is getting stronger by collecting soul is the new stongest unded.
Caracter like Yorick that have their entire life revolve arount killing the king to save the iles bearly got a aparition during the event
it's probably becos then event was during covid
I mean, we were teased with this story since 2013, when tresh and lucian was released. So we have a lot of feeling about it when senna was realeased and then, only a year later we had Viego, Akshan and lastly Vex released to us. Imagine we waiting all that time and "hate" for viego lol.
The whole story of Lucian and Senna Is a bit ironical because they were fighting against the horrors Viego has caused but when Thresh imprisoned Senna, Lucian almost turned into Viego himself. He was only concerned about getting her back or give her peace by destroying the lantern and he was ruthless when someone stood in his way. But once he saved her, he went against Viego even thou he basically wanted the same thing.

@@jackhilton4285 I have no idea. I've tried to find when exactly Absolution happened but i haven't found anything.My guess is that it happened before arcane s.2 since it is over after Viegos imprisonment and I take arcane as present days. But as I said it's just my guess and I can be completly wrong.
well tbf viego would've engulfed the world in the mist if he succeeded and he was already in the process of doing so while picking up Isolde's pieces. Lucian was kinda just shooting his way through the shadow isles in seach of thresh which is a lot less problematic compared to Viego.
@@Avarice_Alt Well, of course Lucian didn't start killing everyone, but he became similar in a way that his goal turned into an obsession that made him reckless. It also gets called out rather hilariously by Graves in his Sentinel skin.

@@YayReacts There's also the fact that they were using a lot of cool, rarely used champions like Yorick and Rengar to build up the lore for the event which people were excited over, but when it came time to put out the cinematics they were nowhere to be seen. Instead they were tossed aside for more popular characters.
@@RenaleighK On top of that between all of their games League of Legends, Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra, and the Ruined King game all had slightly different parts in their narratives that didn't match each other so it left us confused about what was actually canon. Having characters like Riven and Irelia be included in Sentintels of Light and them getting Sentinel versions of their weapons which doesnt make sense because their weapons are considered unique to them. Irelias blades were family items and she had to attune to them to get them to float/dance with her, she wouldn't just toss aside her family blades for some sentinel one. Rivens Rune blade is a unique magical artifact and the sentinels of light do not have access to the tools and magic to create a rune blade. There was also issues with the amount of information each region got in the story. Like, what is everyone else doing while this happens? In the League of Legends story when they go to Noxus you end up easily finding and getting into the Black Rose's hideout which is ridiculous because its an ultra secret society who wouldn't make it easy to just stroll in there. Its a secret society for a reason! In the League version as well, Miss Fortune ends up turning on the Sentinels and the writing about why she did it was poor, but in the Ruined King game she never turns. Theres more, but all the lore inconsistencies, the fact that we got so little information about everything going on in each region and more is why this event was received very poorly by the community. It was just too ambitious of a story to tell in one summer event. In my opinion they should have just split the story over several events so they could focus alot more about whats happening in each region and made some different choices on who ended up as a sentinel of light.

The waters in the blessed Isles were healing waters. They could not however, turn back the dead to life. Viego killed many of the blessed isles inhabitants to get his (deceased) wife to the waters. In trying to resurect her he triggered unholy magic and the blessed Isles turned into the shadow Isles and turned many of its inhabitants (including Thresh) into monsters. Viego himself was absorbed into his magical soul-'eating' blade untill Thresh manipulated someone into setting Viego free (just like how he helped guide Viego to his blasphemous act of trying to ressurect his wife). Thresh true intent is not entirely clear yet but most assume he wants to gain control of the black mists that envellop the shadow isles.
I'm not a fan of the sentinels. The whole thing was rushed and the teamup made no sense. There were characters much closer to (and on) the Shadow Isles and it's neighbour, Bilgewater, that would've made much more sense fighting Viego than those random sentinels from all over the world. Going to a whole region and recruiting just 1 person everywhere makes no sense and was a pretty cheap story made only to sell skins in game :(

There's a lot of ruination lore but these videos are more than enough.
There was a visual novel in game during the ruination event, the ruined king game with the pirate lady and even a ruination book, these videos tried to summarize everything that happened. It was more like complementary material for the large majority that just wanted to know what was happening.

@@jackhilton4285 arcane takes place several years before current league lore, jinx by the end of season 1 is a teenager while in league of legends she's an adult, same as jayce, they look a lot older than they do in arcane, at least 5 to 10 years older

â@@YayReactsIt was a great reaction! If you didn't know there is an actual full Novel Riot games released on the Ruination. It is a bit pricey however đ
The Ruination event League of Legend's first ever "Lore Event" and it was handled a little poorly by Riot. during the multi patch event, different variations of the story were told with some differences between LoL and LoL:WR (The moblie version of LoL) and it had people questioning which version was the canon version. On top of that the champions that were released during the event were a little scrambled. The planned order of releases were suppose to be Vex (January), Viego (April), Gwen (July), Akshan (September), in that order since those characters were encountered in the in-client Ruination Visual Novel in that order. But because Riot had fumbled a bit with Vex during her development she was pushed all the way to the back to September and the other three were moved up accordingly.
Riot made up for it next year with the Spirit Blossom "Lore Event" which was a bit more contained and was executed smoothly.
If you like reading, then the Ruination Novel is an AWESOME book, definetly recommend

@@jackhilton4285 Pretty sure weÂŽve got quite alot of time left till ruination, in arcanes world.
â@@jackhilton4285 The ruination is a present event, and considering that arcane season 2 is still telling the story of Zaun (we haven't seen most of zaun or piltover prevalent characters) i believe that the ruination would happen a few years after the end of season 2 (unless during it they timeskip to the present)

The reason The Ruination event was not perceived well was because Riot Games managed to literally RUIN 10+ years of lore THEY built and destroyed it in a month. I'm not trying to hate if you like the cinematics. It's just more so, they left out at least 10 champions whose whole BACKSTORIES were about defeating Viego. Imagine playing characters over 10+ years and loving the lore and having it destroyed in a month. After the Ruination event Riot games apologized and promised to do better for any future lore events and it's actually what caused Arcane to become cannon and Riot games to address their mistake and make sure they fact check themselves for any future events.
Just read the comments from the video, and here's some funny highlights
"Plot twist: The whole event was Yorricks nightmare about Riot forgetting him.
Yorick was busy digging a grave for the lore that was just murdered.
I really liked that part where Yorick and Maokai showed up to fulfill their life missions of defeating the Ruined King.
Love how they managed to destroy 10 years of lore in 1 month.
Riot destroyed their own lore, and my life is RUINED.
I loved Yorick, Kalista, Hecarim, Maokai, Karthus, Lendros, and Illaoi on this event. Thank god we got sentinel Olaf, Riven and Rengar, Irelia, etc, they were natural parts of the story.
DUDE rengar was so cool, pyke doing his stuff u already know, and olaf going berserk dayum, irelia and riven do look happy fighting next to each other now, bruh that massive diana ult was insane tho, thank you rito."
These comments were specifically from the "sentinel of life" cinematic, which was the final cinematic of the Ruination event.

@@jackhilton4285 Just so you know, the timeperiod i gave in the comment above, for arcane, is an estimation because of things mentioned in the lore about the war that happened during this period, and the connection between that conflict, and a certain character in Arcane!

@@Shythalianot like itâs really his fault, he wasnât supposed to be king his older brother was but then he died and Viego was thrust into a position he was never prepared for, combine that with his obsessiveness over Isolde and the failed assassination attempt on him and yeah you get what we have now.

Viego is a great character but everyone will tell you the ruination event sucked mostly cause of the sentiment of light and how they told the story in client
The book, the game and the champion lore short stories are all great. The sentinels of light just messed up everything. Scrap that part of the story and replace it with lore-accurate champions and armies fighting Viego and it all gets better again.

No I haven't yet. Arcane is what I want to watch but checking out some LoL cinematics for fun for now đ

I play league and I didn't want to watch the show because I didn't think that they could do a good job on it and it absolutely floored me. I was absolutely stunned how good it was, and the art style they used is really top notch. Its a little strange for me but it is a gorgeous show.
FYI: Senna and Lucian are a married couple.

The cinematic where you see Viego revivng Isolde is misleading. Viego is not a good person even before he died. He's abusive, manipulative, and posessive. The reason Isolde stabbed him is because her soul was being torn between worlds and it was causing her pain but Viego didn't care.

@@YayReacts The event it selv wasnt bad, but some of the characters chosen to join the sentinels were only chosen because they are popular characters, so it would be more profitable to sell their new skins in game.
There are characters in league whose whole lore revolves around the shadow isles and the ruination who were completely ignored, which is why people disliked it.
ââ@@YayReactsI think there were a couple of reasons, but what I know the biggest were: In game event itself, there were a visual semi-interactive novel, and it was not so much well handled as previous event like that.
Another smaller reason was, that previous events like that were for skins, aka alternative universes, so even if they were bad they didn't really mattered for the canon.
Secondly personally for me the biggest flaw was how they chose champions for content. Like all those Sentinel Of Light and Ruined characters you saw (except Senna, Gwen and Viego, its their original design) were as alternative cosmetics for the champs, so basically they were chosen not by lore side... But by popularity in game, so they would be well sold. And god.. That was so absurd.
Like, for all that time we saw riot leading Ahri, Yasuo, Illaoi, Braum, Miss Fortune, Pyke for battle against the Ruined King, and even made a game about that... But in the end those characters didn't matter at all. Only Pyke (the most absurd champ to be a Sentinel) from that crew became an actual Sentinel...
And lastly that event was a cross game event across every Runeterra Universe game of Riot. But in every game it had different version, because of once more, how well cosmetics would be sold in every different game... And for the canon event it was a really really bad thing. Like, how do you know which version is more canon and which version matters? Specially when Riot said (I mean later on they changed their mind) that every version is canon.. So we had 4 or even 5 different versions of CANON event and they all supposed to impact the actual story.
I'm bad at explaining my thoughts, so I explained as I could. If someone can correct me if Im wrong or add something I'd appreciate it.
Usually after the "Arcane" netflix there is a desire to delve into the history of Runterra. We are waiting for a reaction to this series the backstory of League of legends) 9 great episodes that will not disappoint you)

@@YayReacts So far, it's good that I haven't come across LoL trailers related to the Arcane, they contain a lot of spoilers. For more surprise, what will happen in the series, I would warn against watching trailers for LoL, wild rift and Tales of Ruterra, before it's too late)
@@warg2735 Well, yes and no on the spoilers. They do show certain scenes, but they are also deliberately very misleading. Seriously, if you watched the first season check the trailers for it, they're cut in such ways that they don't give up much of the plot.
