People misuse this word a lot, but, the situation we witnessed/you recapped here is a classic example of “gaslighting”: one person trying to manipulate the other person into doubting reality. If she had believed him, and thought “wow.. maybe I _did_ embarrass _him,_ I should be less embarrassing..” he would have successfully gaslit her. As a survivor of Domestic Violence i can honestly said that it takes years of counseling to restore your faith in love and humanity, apart that your self steam is a roller coaster of emotions, since you always questions yourself about your look or if you ever good enough. A wife is a person, who you married to keep you company to love each other and work for a better future for both, don't hurt the person that love you unconditionally because the same way she change you are changing yourself as well, and if you don't want somebody to hurt your sister, daughter, mother or any person who you care about, don't hurt the person who loves you the most.
Sad thing is: abused spouses get alot more validating in the world, than in the church. Preeechers, listen the heck up - quit using Scripture to dismiss people stuck in TOXIC (yes toxic) marriages. Some marriages are NOT Biblical, and need to end...period!

After years of an emotional abusive marriage, it took me so long to heal, and learn to stand strong, to be a woman with a healthy self-esteem after being striped of feeling good about myself now I am old but NO ONE treats me wrong too bad we don't teach this in schools to our young girls so they don't live a day under a man's abusive hand.

This cuts right to the core - my father continually belittled both my mother and me me for supposedly “weighing too much”. I guess he would have been considered a “good husband” because he was a “good provider” and wasn’t a womanizer or heavy drinker, but there was pervasive psychological abuse going on day in and day out that kind of slipped under the radar. One day when we were visiting my mother’s sister’s family, my cousin suddenly piped up, “ Your daddy says you’re heavy”. It never occurred to me that I could confront him for that. I wish I did while I had the chance! :

A wife is a person, who you married to keep you company to love each other and work for a better future for both, don't hurt the person that love you unconditionally because the same way she change you are changing yourself as well, and if you don't want somebody to hurt your sister, daughter, mother or any person who you care about, don't hurt the person who loves you the most.
Sad thing is: abused spouses get alot more validating in the world, than in the church. Preeechers, listen the heck up - quit using Scripture to dismiss people stuck in TOXIC (yes toxic) marriages. Some marriages are NOT Biblical, and need to end...period!

Last June 2020 I left my (now ex) boyfriend for the lying, cheating narcissistic behavior. He insulted me, verbally and emotionally abused me. Cost me financially and never apologized for any of it. After years of an emotional abusive marriage, it took me so long to heal, and learn to stand strong, to be a woman with a healthy self-esteem after being striped of feeling good about myself now I am old but NO ONE treats me wrong too bad we don't teach this in schools to our young girls so they don't live a day under a man's abusive hand.

This cuts right to the core - my father continually belittled both my mother and me me for supposedly “weighing too much”. I guess he would have been considered a “good husband” because he was a “good provider” and wasn’t a womanizer or heavy drinker, but there was pervasive psychological abuse going on day in and day out that kind of slipped under the radar. One day when we were visiting my mother’s sister’s family, my cousin suddenly piped up, “ Your daddy says you’re heavy”. It never occurred to me that I could confront him for that. I wish I did while I had the chance!
