Bristol Channel Summer Fishing- Bass Fishing In WILD Seas!

  • Myself and pal Joe Thompson headed for the Somerset reefs on a particularly windy day to target bass. Things went nicely to plan even though the weather was pretty upside down. A big sea encouraged the fish to feed and despite the conditions we were faced with it was an enjoyable few hours by the sea!

    Nice video, excellent conditions for bass, here best bass bait is mullet fillets, far best than crabs, worms and cattle fish

    Well done to both of you. That looks a great rod, and seemed to handle all the fish, and seaweed with ease. (Or was that your great skills. 🤔).
    Thanks for sharing, take care and stay safe.😷🙊

      @@thegamblingangler going out tonight, so I will be enjoying it tomorrow. Looking forward to learning some great tips and no doubt I will have a question. Quick one if you don’t mind. @@christravis3270 I’ve been using these for the last four months, no complaints at all. I’ve found that with cheaper options they just break, one way or another. Great video, shame the weather isn't as wild where I live.
    30 degree and hardly no wind at all 😣
    Just a quick question regarding the bass at the beginning.
    You lifter him/her up via the gill plates, I was told not to do that as they're really sharp.
    Is that the case or am I being a bit too cautious haha.

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  Před 2 lety

      Hi Richard, with experience you can lift a fish this way and avoid the gill plate, but definitely go careful as the outer edge is extremely sharp🙂🎣

    Many thanks Luke 🎣🎣👍

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  Před 2 lety +1

      If I was specifically targeting big bass I would use a Pennel rig with 6/0 hooks and use a big mackerel or squid bait, or a 6/0 circle hook with a live bait. But much depends on where you’re fishing🙂

    Great work yet again Jansen. Is there any meaning behind calling yourself the ‘Gambling’ angler?

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Fred. It’s been a while since I’ve been asked.
      So- every time we fish, it’s a gamble. We can fish the best venue with good bait at a decent time of year and still, the fish can evade us. Equally, the conditions and tide might be poor and the odds are against us, but there is still the chance of making a good catch. Hence the name!🙂🎣

      @@thegamblingangler Indeed Jansen. I finally caught my ultimate goal fish this year after at least 100 sessions over many years. Odds of 100/1 aren’t great but it was worth it.
