Beasts: Unleashed (Episode 4) | A Day With 800m U.S. Champion Nia Akins

"I like to book studio time to distract myself from the pressure of running because there is no pressure. I feel like in music, everybody is a winner. Taking that and applying it back to running, I just want to be better than myself than I was the previous race or the previous year instead of trying to beat other people. I want to make the best career for myself that I can, which is like songwriting and art to me."
2023 was the best year of Nia Akins' career thus far. She won the U.S. Indoor 800m title and then carried the momentum to win the U.S. Outdoor title. She broke two minutes for 800m eight times in the year, including a 1:57.73 personal best to finish sixth in the World Championship final.

She utilizes that multifaceted skillset to also serve as a leader for the Beasts.
