Great tips for beginning painters and I’m forwarding this video to two friends who are just starting out in their painting careers. Both are using different media (oils vs acrylics) and painting in differing styles (abstract vs realism) but your pointers are spot on for either one of them. Thank you for a detailed, thorough synopsis of ‘how to start to understand painting’!! BTW, you’ve taught me so much as well as I struggled through some valleys filled with lack of knowledge and training (no art school here, unfortunately), but now, I’m showing in galleries and bringing in commissions.
