Graphic Design Trends 2024 (What You NEED To Know)

- Graphic design trends are important to designers, and for 2024 there are some prominent trends rising up to the surface. In this tutorial video, I don't only go into the upcoming trends for next year, I show how you can implement them into your design projects, and also when and when not to use them.
Some graphic designers don't give any credence to trends, and then other people think they are amazing. The truth is though, that they are a tool, and as with any tool, they have their own time and place or use-case. I personally will use design trends in specific situations, and for other design briefs, I won't even consider graphic design trends. That's the important factor, as a graphic designer you should know when or when not to use or consider a graphic design trend.
But do you make use of design trends, and are you excited about trends for 2024? And will you be using them on your design projects?
Of course though, if you found todays video enjoyable or useful, let me know in the comments section and drop a like on your way out. Subscribe to stay updated to all of my uploads and until next time, design your future today, peace ✌️

Hello dear i want to learn graphic design from you
as a sign painter trying to keep up with designers hearing vintage styling may make a bit of a return is very exciting
Exactly i agreed woth you. 😊
It worth noting one principle of design is "Form follows function", the goal is getting an effective design thus does not follow trends, the best designs are to be timeless.
Indeed.
I'm starting in the world of designs, this is really helpful video, got subscribe
Incredibly useful as always, a lot of very relevent information in a short video. I will take you up one thing only, and that is your assesment of the the older generation. I'm over 70, as is my large friendship circle, and we are all open to new concepts, ideas, music and all things that new technology can bring. The 70's weren't backward times. The body gets old, the mind does not!
Hey thanks for the input.
That example was mainly to show how trends shouldn't really be used for a brand identity 👍
Finally I found a video on trends that actually is amazing.
never bored of minimalism
Awesome, thank so much for condensing all the info into one lovely vid
My pleasure, have a great day
As always love your videos!!!
Glad you like them thanks :))

nice video! motion design can indeed really help enhance the branding!
Absolutely!
I'm not really bored of minimalistic designs
Prefer them than maximalist
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:00 🎨 Sustainability is a key graphic design trend for 2024, as environmentally conscious initiatives gain recognition and favor among consumers.
01:25 🌿 Designers can incorporate sustainability by using eco-friendly materials, color palettes, fonts, and symbols in their designs.
02:41 🌈 Maximalism is on the rise in graphic design, offering bold and visually stimulating results, but it should have a clear concept and harmonious color choices.
04:24 🖋️ Dynamic typography is becoming popular, adding movement and interactivity to text, engaging audiences and enhancing memorability.
05:49 🕰️ Nostalgia plays a significant role in design trends, with retro color palettes, vintage typography, and classic elements invoking a sense of nostalgia, provided it aligns with the target audience's preferences.
07:32 🎯 When using design trends in 2024, consider your audience and project mission to determine if and how trends can be incorporated into the design effectively.

Unless you're applying to a progressive, post-modern European agency, don't follow trends you'll just scare the boring, old, dinosaur CD's and clients away. Anything cool, trendy or cutting edge is too risky and they can't take a chance. I've seen it over and over again. Also trends are not timeless design, eventually they are no longer trendy and need to be replaced with something more trendy. It's a vicious cycle that never ends.
I think that is inferred by the subject of “trend”. Don’t think anyone assumed farts were going to *be* trendy either.
Also Creative directors that want to be…safe? What kind of CD’s are you working with 😂. Creative literally can’t exist in a box of safety otherwise it’s purely logical
This is super true, and I think also very apparent once you’ve worked in different geographical and cultural demographics. Cities with bigger clientele lists are more likely to be able to showcase modern and trendy designs and experiment and explain to client why designs are applicable. Then when it comes to working in smaller more farming and livestock type of places, I find people are super happy and insistent on designs just being “Don’s Auto Repair” with plain microsoft word fonts and they are hesitant with new and different styles because they just want to stick with what they know and see around town. At least this has been my experiences around the world. Coffee shops and cake shops and restaurants in smaller towns seem to be the outliers and they’re often the few ones open to trying more modern or trendy designs with cool iconography and wordplay.
TL DR:
Research your clients and open discussion with them to see what they want and need and find middle grounds.
It's very misleading for younger designers b/c what they see on social media isn't really reality. This happened to me. It's a huge shock when you see what people actually need in the "real world" and what you will actually be making @@sanctuary_of_mango
I think you need to use trend as a pickle. Small amount and a subtle part of it in your old branding style. Dont copy Everything and change whole identity. Just pick a portion of it and use it in a minimal way
Nice video
Nice❤❤❤
Cheers

These trends (especially Maximalism) are rather self-indulgent and based on the boredom or artistic interests of the design industry. I challenge a customer being able to decipher what product a maximalist poster is actually advertising, or to tell them apart from other maximalist brands in any meaningful way. It maybe looks great but isn’t communication integral to graphic design?
Great video! What is the name of the outro music?
Sorry it was made a long time ago, so I don't remember. It was sourced from Envato Elements though
@@SatoriGraphics Oh, okay. Thanks!
On maximalist who creates the briefs
what would be the difference between a maximalist and a brutalist graphic design or web design for that matter?
Brutalism emphasises function over form, and actually it's closer to minimalism than maximalism
Long live Vaporwave!
✌️
I’m an elliotisacoolguy fan who as many of us has grown a bit of a distaste for these kinds of videos, but genuinely it was really good and helpful until the vintage design segment, which is on literally every one of these videos every year
Can i turn my pencil sketching into graphic designs.
If anyone want to draw his/her sketch contact me ❤
Can Ai take over graphic design
Possibly in a long way away from now. But until then, human designers are still needed. The low tier clients (wanting to pay below $50 for a logo as eg), will likely turn to Ai. but mid and high tier clients will want human based design. Ai cannot even use typography properly at the moment.
Totally nothing new. But thanks for sharing.
Lol no worries
Nah, sustainability inclined people know greenwashing when they see it.
Its getting obvious brands are slapping on a green logo or font to fake looking eco friendly, well done for encouraging greenwaahing further though but i guess it "doesnt matter if you personally believe in sustainability or not" 🙄

Graphic design is a terrible career choice. The problem is that it is too subjective and complicated. The Creative Director can basically make up any excuse or reason not to hire you including you use the wrong colors, they don't like your style or even if you are better than they are. It's also oversaturated and undervalued. Basically there are literally an infinite amount of styles, trends, software programs, industries, deliverables and skillsets in the field. What this means is that when you apply to a job, the odds of you getting hired are basically 0. And if you do happen to be a good "match" there will likely be thousands of other designers you're competing with. And now with AI everything is just getting worse.
And yet the industry grew by 4.2% last year, and people are making a killing. If you know how, this industry is very lucrative and fulfilling
That may be but AI will completely wipe out the entire design industry eventually and graphic design will be an obsolete occupation. Nobody cares about graphic design or advertising except other narcissistic graphic designers.@@SatoriGraphics
