  • 😃👍CREALITY PEI BED SURFACE INSTALLATION & REVIEW FOR THE ENDER 3. My initial impressions of the pei system is good. They use the 3m adhesion for the magnetic surface. PLA and PETG adhere really well to the surface. Look in the description for upcoming updates!
    Thanks

    six printers, all have PEI sheets. after the second one, I purchase the PEI sheet with the printers. It's a godsend and never lost a print because of coming off the bed.

    Been looking for a new bed to replace the stock bed I warped while being a noob. I think you just sold me on this one. Thanks for the detailed installation as well!

    Thanks James. Just got mine. A little worried as if i commit to stick this down to my bed, there is no turning back.

    I got one of these a few weeks ago, and have been having a hell of a time getting PLA to stick to it reliably. It seems to do so for very big prints, but small-footprint prints do not stick nearly as well as the original buildtac on my Ender 3 - i've had many ruined prints where it just gives way after 30 minutes or so of print time. What bed temperature are you using for PLA? (I've been using 60C - thinking of upping it to 70)

      I do have the same problem, but even with larger prints the bottom gets warped like it cant handle the 60c temperature. Im using my Ender glassplate now, instead of the PEI. Did you find a solution?

    Do I need to compensate the temp since there’s a layer between the print surface and the bed? If I needed to remove it, how would I?😊

    Very interesting, especially on how you noticed if the magnetisied bed would be effected by the heat. I wonder the same thing.

    I heard that magnets can get damaged, lose their strength over time, and their surface becomes uneven especially for high temp printing such as ABS, Any tips on how to deal with that?

    waiting for your after 3month review. just bought a pei bed, hope it will be a good upgrade for my printer.

      It's still good, but all pei sheets will wear out over time and have to be replaced.

    Soo… it’s been 5 months, are you still liking the bed?

  • @rflett5797

    Can you use the original magnetic plate that came with the stock printer or is the one that comes with the PEI plate rated for higher temperatures?

    • @DiyProJames
      @DiyProJames  Před 3 lety

      The plate is metal should be attracted to anything magnetic... Creality claims there be should be good to 110C. I have read good reviews on the 3m adhesive.
      I'll give you my 2 cents. Several years ago I bought the wham bam system (pex) for my CR10spro thinking I'm going to need it for higher print bed temperatures. Turns out I mainly print pla and petg and keep the bed at around 55C. So there was no need to pay for a more expensive system. Not that I'm complaining because I have had good use of it. I especially like the convenience factor. No clips just set it on the bed, snap off the prints. If it's a big print then flex the plate and snaps off.. No need to work on scraping difficult prints off the bed. Knowing what I know now. The PEI top coat bonds really well with PLA and PETG. I'm going to say probably better than the pex. I would not spend extra for pex system. Your case maybe different. You maybe using plastics that bond better with pex. Also, maybe working well because it's new. I'll have to give it some time and see in 3 months time.

      @@DiyProJames Thanks for the info. I have read that the PEI plates have 90% of the advantages of glass in addition to it being bendable making release strongly adhered prints much easier.
      I doubt I will print anything but PLA and PETG because I don't have an enclosure and also don't want to have to deal with the toxic fumes from ABS or the other types of filaments.

      Depends. I ordered a second magnetic base for my Ender 2 Pro (Creality version!) and the damn magnetic axis were 90 degrees off so if I wanted to use the new base I had to peal the old magnet off and use the one that came with the new base. Poor customer service to let something out like this.

    • @DiyProJames
      @DiyProJames  Před 2 lety +2

      yes, it still works well, you can scuff the surface, but eventually you will have to replace like everything else

  • @g-lurk

    do you have an update on this? Wondering if the CR 10S also has this as an option? Great video, thanks

    • @DiyProJames
      @DiyProJames  Před 2 lety

      It works. These sheets are meant to be used, scuffed up, and if need be replaced. There should be a right size of the cr 10s.

    • @DiyProJames
      @DiyProJames  Před 2 lety

      You can stick the pei sheet directly to the printer bed, but not recommended. The sheets are meant wear out an be replaced.
