If a song ever was so my ol fella .. and will be mine when I go ..every single word !
This is beautiful. These two are great separately and amazing together. Ronnie RIP X And thx to Bob Dylan for The Restless Farewell. X
The brilliant voice of great man
It don't get much better then this!
All I done a memory good night be with you all
Love love love
They both sang boots of Spanish leather which is brilliant
Oh all the money that in my whole life I did spend
Be it mine right or wrongfully
I let it slip gladly to my friends
To tie up the time most forcefully
Well the bottles are done
We've killed each one
And the table's full and overflowed
And the corner sign
Says it's closing time
So I'll bid farewell and be down the road.
Of all the money that ever I had
I spent it in good company
And of all the harm that ever I done
Alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of width
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all. Oh ev'ry boy that ever l've touched
I did not do it harmfully
And ev'ry boy that ever I've hurt
I did not do it knowin'ly
But to remain as friends
You need the time to make a man and stay behind
And since my feet are now fast
And point away from the past
I'll bid farewell and be down the line.

If I had money enough to spend
And leisure time to sit a while
There is a fair maid in this town
That sorely has my heart beguiled
Her rosy cheeks, her ruby lips
By own she has my heart enthralled.
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all.Oh a false clock tries to tick out my time
To disgrace, distract, and bother me.
And the dirt of gossip blows into my face
And the dust of rumor covers me
But if the arrow is straight
And the point is slick
It can pierce through dust no matter how thick
So I'll make my stand
And remain as I am
And bid farewell and not give a damn. Of all the comrades that ever I had
They are sorry at my going away
And of all the sweethearts that ever I had
They would wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I gently rise and I softly call
Good night and joy be with you all Of all the money that ever I had
I spent it in good company
And of all the harm that ever I've done
Alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of width
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all.
Maravilhosos .for ever.
What an incredibly beautiful contrast in the voices, farewell to you Ronnie, I would like to think that you, Luke, Cieran, Barney and the others are reunited and that the long party you had goes on.
The first time I heard this was in the Shebeen, on the coast road between Westport and Louisburgh. I sat up straight, stopped what I was doing, and strained to hear every note. I got the album for a friend the States who termed it "insanely great"!
Good koppel. Good song.Good sung.
Love. Always. Ever.
Beautiful, awesome, moving, brilliant, crackin' ... goosebumps... my favorite song mixed with a version I never heard before.... really .... Awesome .... and Ronnie's voice......
I first heard this while sipping a Guinness at The Sheebeen, in County Mayo outside of Westport. It was one of those moments where it filtered through, I cocked my ears, and thought "Wow!"
@@PaulGoodeK Aye, I just listened to it sipping a dram of Macallan...and it just left me in awe .... I had to go and buy the album online of course .... not allowed to to go outside these days ... but music like this, poetry like this surely makes days better, makes life better .... thanks for uploading it .. and making me discover this pure priceless pearl!
@@thelosthighlander3373 Excellent album! I brought a copy back to the States from Ireland and gave it a friend. When I ran into him a few weeks later, the first thing he says is "That album is insane!" (As in "insanely great"). Viva La Quinta Brigada!
@@PaulGoodeK Yes a crackin' album.... Ronnie's voice is legend... but Eleanor Shanley is very good too ... the whole thing is a real piece of art! For the ears, heart and soul!
Its great to have real talent
TIMELESS ....... hand on heart,
+elayne murray I was having a pint at The Sheebeen outside of Westport when I first heard this. Two minutes and I was sold!
That's an understatement of course .... this is grace appointed from on high ....Ireland has a melancholy like no other it's only one exception who would be our Gaelic relations in Alba ..or Scotland as less learned people would know it ... Ronny got it, felt it, lived it, spoke it and sung it ... only we know ....
@@constuctivecritisism8393 The Irish-American academic and politician Daniel Patrick Moynihan once observed that "To be Irish is to know that the world will break your heart one day."
Beautiful song very well sang
Paul, yes, I actually listen to LiveIreland radio stn on air, Google it, Tunenin Radio App, for years now, I'm lost without it !! :-) try it !!

Okay, so this is obviously from a live recording, but are there really no video of this performance?
I have not found any evidence of that anywhere and it's so strange to me.
This is from the Ronnie Drew / Eleanor Shanley album A Couple More years (2000). I believe that it still available.
I was at a funeral for my cousin last month and they played this song. Brought a tear to my eye I have to admit.
