@@deermeatfordinner I know to a lot of ocean fisherman and Walleye eaters of the North dont like Catfish very much but if you cut the tail on both sides down to the bone and throw it in ice water to let it bleed out. The meat will be snow white and the best next to Buffalo fish ribs and right along with snakehead. Larger ones need fat and dark meat trimmed
@@deermeatfordinner Another thing I like to do Robert that you should try is buy whole chicken thighs, cut off all the skin and on the most meaty area, leave a thin piece of meat attached to the skin. Fry it with more of Japanese seasoned flour called like spice spice and the sauce you have to try it with is Japanese Mayo. Best appetizer ever along with soft shell deep fried crab and octopus. Lol. Its from our nationally recognized Yokohama Ramen Joint restaurant here in Wichita Ks. Trust me on the Catfish method though. I've been eating Catfish regularly for over 30 of my 40 yrs and any way short of raw, I've tried. Other than that, a 2 pound whole Catfish eaten off the bone is my favorite way to eat them. Thats why you cut to the bone on both sides of tail.

When I was a kid one of my favorite baits was raw bacon. Whenever we went camping I could usually talk my Mom out of a couple of strips of bacon & the fish loved that stuff.
I used to tear the gar up on bacon!!!
I love pond fishing, reminds me of fishing with my brother. He always said it was like fishing in a bathtub, they ain't got no where to run. We would bring 'em home, clean, filet and cook them up with a little corn meal, or I would steam them in foil packets or grill them. I learned a lot from those fishing trips, mostly just wanted to spend time with family. DMFD brings that home feeling for me. Thanks, Robert.

Rural Alabama folks love our catfish, crappie and bluegill swimming in hot grease. We also like them blackened cooked over a campfire too.. Turn that cast iron lid over and stick it on some hot coals, put some butter in the lid and get it smoking, add that seasoned filet .. oh man.. All the campers in your area are drawn to the smell...👈. We share with everyone just like y'all did.

Nobody in my family fishes or hunts. My wife’s family does and I’ve learned a ton from them. I always learn something new when I watch dmfd. The words “ why didn’t I think of that” keep popping into my brain when I watch these videos. My next catch is in danger of becoming dinner. Thanks Robert!!!!

(That was pretty miserable) but after going to a chiropractor, my back got even worse!!! I got an MRI yesterday and go back to the doc on Monday. This too shall pass! God’s way of slowing me down!
@@deermeatfordinner man that stinks! I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve had problems with my back in the very recent past. Also worked with a chiropractor, and I’m a Physical Therapist Assistant, so I know a bit about the body. I’ll say this: my back problems were awful, and the chiropractor didn’t fix it the first visit, but I did make it to “pain free” after about a 2 weeks. It was a much preferred alternative to going under the knife.😂😀😐😳

Hi Rob, the Bear from Beaumont, Tx here. You and Dennis catching those big old channel cats reminded me of a neighbor of mine I had outside of Livingston Texas. He had a bunch of farm ponds but we went to his 77 acre pond that he dug with a bulldozer and set up himself putting in homemade structure made out of 50 model Chevys and tires banded together with wire for the crappie and everything else to use for structure. About a year after he built that pond we went out there with Catawba worms and I kid you not we filled up the back of my Dodge Ram short bed with channel cats anywhere from around 5 lb to I think the biggest one was 20 lb. He had had Texas Parks and wildlife come out and stock the pond with minnows, bluegill, bass ,crappie and channel cat after the pond filled up. We invited a bunch of people for a 4th of July catch clean and cook fish fry and everybody ate till the belly ached and then we watched the fireworks show at lake Livingston. God bless America those were some good times.
