Lure Making Floating Stickbait - part 1

- In this video tutorial I'm making Floating Stickbait for GT fishing 🎣 I will fish it on my holiday in Seychelles - check the second part for amazing fishing footage 🌴🏖️ the firs tpart of the video covers designing, and carving the lure body out of bass wood. Installation of the trough wire and sealing the wood before painting.

I've had other BPM baits czcams.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!

Use a drinking straw and cut out spoon shape in the end so you can tap the baking soda into the lure,I use a lot of the sawdust I get from sanding with super glue as well the fill in void,just put a box under your sander with a piece of cardboard sticking up so the sawdust will hit it and fall into the box,I like your videos

Hello. Good work. Congratulations. I also make wooden lures. Just one observation, which I consider important: i have noticed that epoxy does not stick very well when applied directly to surfaces treated with cyanoacrylate. First I apply an acrylic primer over the cyanoacrylate and then the epoxy over the primer.
Thanks 🙏 I haven't noticed that, that's the standard sequence for all my wooden lures and I never had an instance of epoxy chipping off the wooden blank 🤔

Have you tried crimps on the stainless steel wire vs wrapping? Super quick and easy :)
Hi, yes I did 🙂 I believe I did it on my diving popper video 😉 definitely stronger and quicker method 👌
@@SuchaJerkCustomLures it makes the harness abit bulkier, but quick as a flash…if you get the crimps on pre-bending ;)

What type of wood do you use or in your experience which is the best for lures?
Balsa wood for the lures up to 5cm (fresh water only), bass wood for the bigger floating lures, and smaller lures with carved details, then ash or oak wood for big sinking lures 😉
Can you please tell me what wood you used?Also can you please tell me the thickness?
The wood is a bass / linden wood. The thickness, I'm not sure exactly, but the finished lure is 2.5cm/1" wide 😉

what qualities do you look for when choosing your wood to make a lure?
Buoyancy and easiness of carving, therefore I would pretty much just use Balsa (for smaller lures, unless their sinking) or Bass Wood. Bass wood I'll also use for the detailed carved lures if their sinking 😉

@@SuchaJerkCustomLures ok😉I thought the filling solution would do the job of weight, being much heavier than the wood itself.
@@zemi.j.28 the it probably would together with the heavy hooks and split rings, but I'm not sure the rolling action would be achieved 🤔

Hi Blake 👋 the wood is bass/linden wood and the grey and red thingy is a two part car body filler putty (the brand is Dutch) but if you Google it, for sure you're find one produced locally in your country 😉

Jak najbardziej 👌 jeżeli robisz głównie z lipy, albo nawet twardszego drewna, to usprawnia proces bardzo 😊 jakościowo też dobra, ogólnie polecam narzędzia Parkside, mam kilka, w tej kategorii cenowej najlepsza jakość 💪

Hi there 👋 it is bass wood, or linden wood as it's called in Europe 😉 it's relatively hard and strong for it's buoyancy, it also caves very nice 🙂
