It's tournament legal because he's actually following the controller rules. Also it's incredibly impressive when people have such passion for fighting games, they make their own custom controller. Brilliant and awesome.

Literally impossible. You can play with the keyboard, with gamepads, arcade sticks, and any variation of those you can come up with. Any attempt to standardization will piss someone off.
@@every_username_is_taken The standardization means things like 'One button= one input to the game' which is not how one of the buttons works. One of the buttons is essentially a macro button.
@@Folsomdsf2 most if not all fgc tournaments prohibit hardware modifications like macros, but only a % of players actually compete thus there's no way for companies to actually control what kit you're using in the comfort of your home. You should have seen one of his first hitbox mods that got Capcom to implement the SOCD & Button rules. I feel like players should be on same input device. Box players like to claim they don't have an advantage but common sense says otherwise
I don't think it's that cut and dry. Box players have certain advantages but they also have to deal with certain drawbacks (namely managing the button layout). As long sd everyone has the option to use the same control devices, I think there's room for preferences.
@@user-do2ev2hr7h tbf idc if people play on box or fight pad or a console controller, but in a tournament setting I feel it should be universal everybody decides on one. I do believe that box once you get used to your setup is much more accurate and consistent than controller

Interesting to see OG Pros like Daigo changing to leverless. The fact it’s all keys makes execution a lot more precise and probably less error prone than stick. I wonder how much of a difference it makes at their level.
if the rules allow it its fine. personally i hope this starts making people do this more. id love to see sticks with xtra buttons or pads with the back paddles set to new inputs becoming a new thing. if people dont like it for their game then have a discussion about it in your community that is constructive and work with the people in ur community, weather that be ur discord or locals about what they think about these controllers and find a good middle ground (:
the whole point of a standardized controller is to eliminate potential abuse and advantages. your basically saying its okay to use strike packs and other things that allow for macros to eliminate recoil in guns in fps games or steroids are illegal for competitive sports but TRT is okay its blatantly pushing the boundary's on "what is okay" in the fps scenario strike packs and paddles are examined a ton to make sure no software is running giving the player a ability to do multiple inputs per 1 button press so generally its the 1:1 rule 1 button press for 1 action, if you hit a button and it does kick kick it would be a automatic fail that is a macro the button will never mess up that kick kick input ever the timing is recorded and customized so its always perfect, its a tiny advantage. someone else manually doing the input has a small chance to mess up.
the answer is no there should be a standardized controller that is okay and nothing outside those lines should be allowed period custom controllers are cool but you have no way to know how/if the player tampered with it to give them a advantage. arcade sticks and such are perfectly fine but diago knows he is pushing "what is within the lines" of okay.
there have even been scenarios where players pass the tests during a event only to have some secret switch to turn on the cheats and advantages you would just have no way of knowing if they didn't get caught.
in competitive events every player should have equal footing there is no room for the DBZXStrikeOMEGA Shenron edition arcade stick.

It’s convenience and not really an advantage if everyone can build the controller they like lol. You‘re free to do it yourself instead of whining 😂
@@bigboyfinesse8310 listen two button presses are two buttons presses. So human error is involved and the possibility of not pressing buttons correctly simultaneously when in battle is always present. Even with pros like Daigo it happens. Removing that error possibility by turning two buttons into one is definitely advantageous. Especially when the hit boxes also remove the diagonals. That's even more of an advantage. So let's say if Daigo's failure rate on executing moves is less than 10% well the now his hitbox drops in half if not altogether. Hitboxes for a player like me mean nothing cause I'm not that good.
