  • Here is part 2, and the last part, for this old vintage tube radio. This time we are going to do an alignment and all of the work that is needed for the cabinet. Thanks for watching.
Tip of the hat to the folks at FYLP. They made a great back for me just from my measurements.

This is like the sister of the Firestone Air Chief radio, which was manufactured by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, in circa 1947. The Firestone Air Chief radio was a big floor model, and was tube-type. Your friend, Jeff.

I think it turned out great! I like that you didnt put the other decals on, it lend to the fact of the radios age and wear……like another comment said, not over over done! Thanks for sharing….Take Care-Larry

Nice looking radio. I like the grille design and the curves of the cabinate.

I did prototyping with both tacky glue and rubber cement. Tacky glue leaves a thicker surface than rubber cement. Since tacky glue is a water based product, the speaker cone adsorbed the water and had some minor physical distortion.

Think you suggested that on one of my other videos. I’ll try that at some point.

Yes,, I’m still here. It’s safe to say that life got
In the way. I still have all my radio inventory in the wings. We will get back to the hobby,,, just not sure when. Thanks for asking.
