Petition to do a street food series where he makes it based on a video, then flies to the place to try it!
big agree
Isn't there a street food with sensei seriesalready on this very channel ?
Found Alvin’s alt account
sick idea!
Anywhere with Alvin!
Alvin's really been carrying the channel lately, give this man his props
Agree to Disagree
@@dragonites55Babish doesn’t do anything anymore. All I ever see is this kid.
@@dragonites55elaborate? :)
Watch him on last meals with Josh and you will see why
The episode on Mythical Kitchen gives a lot of answers regarding Andrew@@JoshO423
Anything with Alvin is actually such a funny series title I love it
Soon it will be Alvin with Alvin
Yeah, I honestly don't even watch any content on the channel unless it has Alvin in it.
@@Hensley_if u want more Alvin content I suggest his channel where he cooks sometimes and his tasty series where he makes rlly big food ^^ it's called making it big
All day with Alvin 😍😍😍
I'm curious, what happened with Tasty?
Bananas are sometimes used as an egg substitute, so I think maybe they wanted something egg-like in the batter that wasn’t eggs?
Can also use 1/4 cup Greek Yogurt per egg as a substitute. I'm curious how that might change the flavour profile.
@@Vonzuliseems like it would be kinda gross but that’s just me
@@krusher181 you don’t notice substitute ingredients, they’re just ingredients
Same with butter and mayo
@@krusher181It wouldn't change the flavor much. You don't taste the egg in batters. It's just there as a binder.
No, Koreans just like the sweet taste it gives when you put fruits in sauces. It's very common to put Asian pears, kiwis, or apples instead.
I love Alvin's joy of food! The little things, like his story about falling asleep to the sound of chicken frying and telling us who he shared the food with (and who took the leftovers home), really adds to the cozy feeling of these videos! ❤️
finally a Korean fried chicken recipe that I can actually make at home, looks delicious!
Oh my days looks hella complicated. I think I lost track half way through😅😅😅
Have you tried Maangchi? She also makes amazing Korean dishes and her fried chicken is *chef’s kiss*.
@@airyrelic43 sorry, I wasn’t intentionally being rude. It’s just her skills far exceed mine🥰
Yes more of those videos! They're really calming, ASMR for cooking nerds.
Ive watched these street vendor fried chicken videos so many times. Glad to see a recipe recreated!
I hope he does more from yummyboy. I've binged so many hours of that channel.
Glad to see another person I know of who watches Yummyboy, I like to binge watch a lot of his videos every once in a while.
I want more street food! Street food with Alvin would be a great series
There's already a street food series on this channel with Senpai Kai.
It's really fantastic fresh, on the spot. Most of the time though, I don't go out though. The most frustrating thing about ordering chicken in Korea is that by the time it gets delivered to me it's almost always soggy af, the magic to this is when the sauce is still warm and the chicken is still very, very crispy but the window is brief. Dakgangjeong is one of my favorites but, I order it with the sauce in a cup to the side from my local place thats' cool with that.
Alvin getting another series in the BCU! I'm looking forward to seeing various cuisines from Asia.
Also, as an avid watcher of Yummyboy, it's very nice to see you recognize their work.
When I visited Korea Chicken was much more popular food there then I expected. It was also delicious every time I had it. I'll have to try this recipe
I appreciate meeting half way with including ASMR at the very beginning instead of including it throughout the entire video. I wasn’t sure what the results were going to be when it was asked in a previous video if all the videos should be done in that style. Thank you.
Kinda sad no recipe was posted. I know he has measurements in video but I'd like a post beta tested version printed for us peasants ❤
Love seeing this channel branch out with more different shows and stuff. Speaking of, will we ever see another episode of Kendall Kombines?
I haven't watched this channel much over the last couple years so it was a big shock for me to see that it has over 10M subs now. crazy growth!
A lot less chaotic than the Street Food with Senpai. I dig this and can't wait to see what else he tries.
Honestly, waking up to this had my brain a buzz of dishes id love to see made by such experts. Under anime i cant help but remember Soma Yukihara's Chicken Egg Tempura Don, from video games the 4 types of curry you can have made in Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker, for TV shows the the Tacho from Kim Possible, and for streetfood i can only think of one and thats a mexican beef tongue taco. I hope this stirs as many ideas for you as it did me.
Are you telepathic because except for the anime example ALL of these occurred to me too!! (Esp the FFXIV)
There is SO many dishes in 14 that need to be made here!
Tacho? You mean the Naco?
@@andriealinsangao613No, the tacho, where Ron shoves a bunch of Nachos in a soft tortilla shell and eats it
Oh my goodness!! Looks amazing! Going to make this at home!! Just wish I had a gas stove again 😢
glucose syrup would be zero-fructose corn syrup. you add the fructose back to it to get simple sugar syrup. but they all have the same caloric value, just slightly different flavor profiles depending on the ratio ; D
Korean Fried Chicken! My favorite! Try making this recipe with potato starch as well, so crispy especially double fried!!
i wish we had more korean fried chicken places in the states. they are really rare outside of massive cities like NY LA or austin etc
They're surprisingly common now in and around Columbus, multiple different franchises the last few years and it seems like another new store keeps popping up every month.
I love watching yummy boy videos. So glad you are doing something from them. I've been curious about so many of the things they have recorded being made.
Alvin if you’re going to use the wok on the stovetop, you should flip the grate upside down to create a little cradle for the wok!
Thank you for the wonderful video of street food style Korean fried chicken 👍
I'm going to make this for christmas. Maybe a couple weeks before as well.
I knew that was a Yummy Boy video before he said it. I always get so hungry watching them, it's like food ASMR.
I saw the thumbnail and immediately thought "Alvin has been watching Asian street food videos again" I love watching the Yummy Boy channel as well
Can these episodes with alvin be put up on the website with the recipe?
Bump, give us the recipe
Steve, the unsung MVP for taking home the left overs. I feel you Steve! I love left overs too 😅
I feel marvelous as i see my nation's food in my most favorite channel 😮
this was the best CZcams video I've ever watched fr
There is a really great Korean fried chicken shop down the street from me. It’s my go to treat yo self meal! I really need to get myself a wok though so I can try to make it at home.
Thank you for giving respect and recognition to the original source which inspired you dish. 👍
As someone currently living in korea. Korea handsdown makes the best fried chicken.
I absolutely love bananas and I saw this exact video on youtube of this chicken stall! I'm so glad someone did a video recreating it!
>anything with alvin
You sure this isnt just the new channel name? I see more alvin than babish these days 😂
your videos are like music to me. no matter how much is on my mind, your voice and delicous recipies are always relaxing
Every aspect of this recipe sounds fantastic outside of the banana
Yea, he lost me at the banana, which is pretty early on. First time seeing korean fried chicken with banana flavour
He should be using Plantain; way more muted and savoury
Perfect
YEAH!!!

When the thumbnail's sublime,
But your heart wants to cry,
*that's amoré~*
That Daytona is such a beauty. I’d be terrified cooking with it on though.
Alvin please carry on with your own channel. Your recipes are amazing and you deserve all the credit. You LITERALLY carry this channel. Please carry on with your own channel.
Alvin can NEVER top Babish….get serious pal
I'm just shocked that Alvin is actually telling the viewers how to make what he's cooking. His independent videos never tell what to do like when he made that 150-hour chocolate cake...
I've always wanted to see what the Onion and Banana Juice from ATLA looked like. I guess Garlic and Banana Puree is the closest I'll get...for now. It looked pretty similar ngl
I thought the same thing! 🤣
I think the green flecks might have been green onion. I don't see Koreans use parsley often... Looks delicious either way!
Bro everything from Korea I would never expect how it’s made but it’s always delicious
As a Korean, I can confirm this recipe is not 100% Korean. But my mind changed to "hmm it should work" when I saw the amount of garlic at 1:50.
Do you have any idea what else they put in their flour/batter mix? I can't seem to replicate the korean fried chicken taste.
i never considered making extra dry breading and coating the outside with it! genius! haha
This is Alvin's channel now, right? Babish only makes guest appearances
Korean Fried Chicken look so tasty!
The best kfc
I’ve been waiting a LOOOOOONG time to see this one
I'm definitely gonna try frying chicken like this
You have got to hand it to the South Korean chefs. When they want to make some fried chicken they do it in style.
I watched the yummyboy video and I’m pretty sure that the spice slurry they add to the bananas and garlic has a bunch of chili or sambal like components. The final product looked suspiciously like chili garlic wings. I would also bet they use some combination of wheat/rice flours and starch in the batter and dredge to give it that signature crunch
As a begginner trying to learn a piece of ( Very late feedback ): When describing the texture of the flour at 4:40 you use Pancake batter or Crepe batter. I don't know what those are like... I think a single clear take of how the batter is when passing the whisk would help out a lot those who are not familiar with the references!
My word that looks phenomenal!
Dang…. I was hoping for some audio of the first bite for that crunch because it looks like it would provide a satisfying one
alvin is my lil hero of culinary, my lil Sōma Yukihira
2:20 high fructose corn syrup has fructose and glucose in it. Glucose/Dextrose/Corn Syrup has no fructose in it, changing the consistency.
if it’s got Alvin, i’ll watch it baybee
As the reference video started first thing came in my mind that this video was from yummyboy. Same as alvin I droll watching these street food vendor vids too ❤
I swear he's taken over for Andrew at this point.
can it be baked? me and my dad are trying to stay away from fried food and i would love to try this in a baked version. love your video btw 🔥💯
This was lovely and looked delicious! Excellent presentation!
Regarding the oil used: I don’t know if this is strictly a BB.Q Chicken thing or a Korean fried chicken thing in general, but one of the things BB.Q Chicken does differently is that they fry their chicken in light olive oil, rather than neutral vegetable oil.
Every time i see this channel’s notifications my day improves dramatically
i love alvins voice overs
Lucky you Alvin, I have in fact had bad fried chicken before, even warm
At this point, I think Alvin might end up taking control over the BCU and overthrowing Babish.
Andrew's been taking time off after having some bad stuff happen this year. He'll be back, he just needs some time and space to heal.
Hi Team, I am not very sure which program you referred to, but in Korea there is one particular TV program that people are skeptical of the REAL recipes used as it seems the recipes are way too complicated and cost-heavy to be sold at a marketplace/business setting. So please bear in mind that the banana may not be used in their real business, but may have been featured in the program for the sake of marketing/sales. I am Korean native living in Korea, and although I can't say I had ALL Korean chicken there is, I certainly never heard of one that has banana in it :)
I'm a bit unclear on something; Andrew has said in the past that it's best to drain fried things on paper towels, so the oil gets absorbed by the towels instead of back into the food. However, both he and Alvin frequently use wire racks instead, and I haven't heard that advice repeated anywhere else. I'm curious which is actually better.
The wire rack allows air to pass around, so the crispy chicken doesn't get soggy. If you fry with the right oil and at the right temperature, the food shouldn't absorb the oil.
Oh to be in that room with Alvin and him handing over a fork with food he JUST made. Not only is this man so handsome but he cooks amazingly.
I used to work in the kitchen of a Korean fried chicken takeout place, and once I saw "Korean Fried Chicken" in another caption for an American recipe video I was ready to be disappointed but this was the closest I've seen someone do it! 🤍🤍🤍
Random observation- I haven't watched a ton of Avlin's videos yet, but so far I don't think I've seen a single one where he hasn't used honey!
I love watching these videos
Eyy, this actually was simple enough that I think I could make it! (Erm, though I only have a slap-chopper and no food processor or blender at the moment. Working on that). Only thing is, I don't like cooking every day and would want leftovers. I feel this chicken would taste best only on day one and after that, it would lose that crunch in the skin.
Korean fried chicken looks amazing!!
Petition for an ASMR with Alvin series.
No commentary. No music. No intentional scritchy scratchy sounds.
Just natural cooking ambience.
Low-key just his own channel's content but with no music 🫢
I would LOVE it if the "Anything" with Alvin series was more like Alvin's old CZcams stuff. I miss that style so much. I made his 100-hour Lasagna once and it was incredible.
As a south korean myself, I can tell there is not such thing as too much garlic. For instance, the amount of garlic you used in this recipe is just normal. We just put it by our stainless bowl full of pure garlic goodness.
Nicely done, Alvin!
The ingredients reminded me of something I've been wanting to request. I want to see them make a gourmet version of Markipliers "perfect meal" from Distractable. I know it won't happen, but I just have a fun time trying to imagine it.
Great video! I also seen those straight vendor videos on yummy boys. I subscribe to their channel great videos to see how people in Korea make they're interesting food.
We need a cocktail series called alcohol with alvin 👀
i will always, every time, watch ANYTHING with Alvin. i LOVE Alvin.
You could do the pizza pasta from Fears to Fathom - Ironbark Lookout!
The thing about Korean fried chicken is that they’re double fried
A chef with my rl first name?! Gotta love it!
Guru Pathik would be proud of that garlic and banana... "juice" LOL
Thank you for crediting the ideas of the recipes. This was not something that was done on this channel for many years especially when many recipes were very similar to Serious Eats blog posts. Serious eats fans know.
In the immortal words of A.C.E, "Chicken. Is. Destiny."
Hi Alvin, there are a lot of south Asian foods in video game “Venba” and “Thirsty Suitors”. It would be great if you can try some
Yes to this. Venba is such a gorgeous game and deserves the love
Yes to this. Venba is such a gorgeous game and deserves the love
The ASMR in 0:30 - 1:00 is palpable.
Anything with Alvin? Thats it, we won
Purée banana might work as a dairy substitute for sauces that don’t need the protein.
Been addicted to watching all of your videos 😅, btw how is your skin so poreless?
What do you do with the oil after frying?
"I can't go to Korea right now." Said like a man wanted for question by the police 😂
