advice for competitors from an aussie skidder. 1. big rad 2. ditch the lsd's and lock your diffs 3. disconnect rear brakes 4. rig thermo fans to run off a toggle switch so u can have it run constant during your run 5. trans coolers for autos 6. pick appropriately sized tyres for your cars performance eg: don't try run 245 18s if your car only has stock or near stock power lol On my 89 commodore it has about 200hp so I run little 185/55/14s or 185 195 50 or 55 15s with 4.11 diff gears and get it into 3rd gear tyres pop in around 1min 30 as per our time limit for the local comps, 7. I forgot diff gears is dependent on hp if u have say 500bhp go somewhere between 3.0 and 3.10s if your like me and only have 200hp then 4.11s is the go it's also dependent on torque (unfortunately it's something you'll have to play around with yourselves it goes on car, engine, power, torque u want to aim for atleast 3rd gear at arount 500rpm off the limiter :) hope that helps yas out :D, these are just the absolute basics everything beyond this is completely personnel to you.
I wish I would have talked to you before this event. Tip #6 would have made a big difference in my run. I thought bigger was cooler but it really hurt me wheel speed. Thanks for the info!
@@dickysgarage7120 not a problem man 👍 yeah it takes time and a bit of experimenting with different sizes to find the optimal amount of resistance and wheel speed, took me quite a lot of yrs to get the perfect setup, lots of trial and error over several cars lol so my current car has everything that works and none of the weaknesses inherit in these particular cars 👌

@@brannonbarakat457 wheel speed is why ,faster u can turn the tyres the more smoke u make and smoke quantity is the highest of the scoring criteria 👍 doesn't have to be 3rd u can use any gear u want but u want the highest gear u can possibly get into for maximum smoke production. 3rds as high as my cars capable of with 411s and gives a wheel speed of around 160-175kmh ish.
@@5lcalais1 wow hmm is it harder on the tranny to be in a higher gear while sliding? Since a higher gear has less power? Is it also easier to keep angle being in a higher gear? I feel like sometimes its hard to keep angle being in first gear aince theres less wheel spped, so maybe 3rd allows for more angle because more wheel speed?

I got to talk to James earlier in the day at the event, and boy he wasn't lying when I asked him if Neighbor was going to catch fire again and he said "Damn right he is." I'll definitely be making the drive to November's C&C, this was amazing.
As much I love the burnouts, I feel pain every time I hear a wall tap.
Its OK if its a beater but makes me cringe when the car is half decent.

He just finished putting the car together and didn't really get to test it much lol. The weight and short wheelbase are gonna make it hard to get used to
it looked like he didnt try left foot braking while getting it sideways
with that much power and the wheelbase its extremely difficult to do a donut especially without left foot brake

I'm telling you Cletus, you need some 150 foot long rope lights running along the top of the concrete barrier so the drivers can see the wall through the smoke. lol they're cheap, it would only take 2, and would make it safer for the crowd and the drivers that dont want to run into a wall.
