So it seems like a lot of people are confused about this video so I'll explain. This is from the annual Russian tank biathlon, which has lots of countries friendly with Russia competing (western countries are invited but they don't participate unfortunately). Most countries use the Russian T72B3, China decided to use their own type 96b. None of the tanks are the most powerful or advanced versions these countries have (t90M or type99b), they're actually downgraded to have a manual fire control system however they have the speed limiter removed which allows them to reach speeds that they wouldn't in combat. The reason why the speeds are limited in combat is because it wears out components like the tracks and suspension too fast and it's also dangerous to drive this fast in a combat zone. These events also have a marksmanship stage during each lap, with machine gun and main gun targets as well as obstacles which must be avoided, all of which carry time penalties for mistakes. Overall it's pretty fun and you can watch the games on CZcams. I'd personally like to see a version with more modern tanks tho
I heard they turned the boost up on the turbo to extreme pressures, and the engine is cooked after this one event. Don’t know if the Chinese thought to do the same.

I guess that could make sense - with professional racing events at the highest tier of competition those engines are tuned to only survive that event...top fuel dragster engines have to be completely replaced after running three or four miles or something. So if you're taking a race seriously and have the funding you'll push the engine to the breaking point, whether its in a car, a bike, or a tank.

Not surprise, Russian tank are generally lighter than western so it accelerate faster (also that Chinese tank have the similar if not lighter weight than the Russian one but didn't accelerate fast enough)

The Chinese tank was accelerating while Russia was already on a second lap with much greater initial speeds, not saying Russia's tank is doing anything bad or wrong, it's just that this is not a comparison of the tank speeds.
It's funny, but the Chinese tank is probably better then our (I am from Russia) in terms of speed, especially the reverse speed.
