    I had the opportunity to meet him at my University in Puerto Rico and I can say what he mentioned about journalist is somewhat true. This guy with a recorder just kept following him, insisting about being a journalist and other questions that clearly made him uncomfortable, and he did not stop. I only asked him one question and backed out and took a photo with him, but he did not look happy with that guy's assertions.

      A Cuban gentleman named Pierre San Martin was among those jailed by Che Guevara in the early months of the Cuban Revolution. In an El Nuevo Herald article from December 28, 1997 San Martin recalled the horrors: “Thirteen of us were crammed into a cell. Sixteen of us would stand while the other sixteen tried to sleep on the cold filthy floor. We took shifts that way. Dozens were led from the cells to the firing squad daily. The volleys kept us awake. We felt that any one of those minutes would be our last.
      One morning the horrible sound of that rusty steel door swinging open startled us awake and Che's guards shoved a new prisoner into our cell. He was a boy, maybe 14 years old. His face was bruised and smeared with blood. "What did you do?" We asked horrified. "I tried to defend my papa," gasped the bloodied boy. "But they sent him to the firing squad."
      Soon Che's guards returned. The rusty steel door opened and they yanked the boy out of the cell. "We all rushed to the cell's window that faced the execution pit," recalls Mr. San Martin. "We simply couldn't believe they'd murder him.
      "Then we spotted him, strutting around the blood-drenched execution yard with his hands on his waist and barking orders -- Che Guevara himself. 'Kneel down!' Che barked at the boy.
      "Assassins!" we screamed from our window.
      “I said: KNEEL DOWN!" Che barked again.
      The boy stared Che resolutely in the face. "If you're going to kill me," he yelled, "you'll have to do it while I'm standing! Men die standing!"
      "Murderers!" the men yelled desperately from their cells. "Then we saw Che unholstering his pistol. He put the barrel to the back of the boys neck and blasted. The shot almost decapitated the young boy.

      I'm sorry, but you're going to have to source more than just "An El Nuevo Herald article" I've researched the article you mentioned and not only did you miss-quote it (you rewrote what the boy said and you skipped over the part where Che admired his bravery), but there doesn't seem to be anymore information on Pierre San Martin or what his crimes against the new Cuban government he might have committed. You are truly not a student of history. You accuse others of only believing in 'convenient history', yet you only read one article that agreed with your already existing views on Che and assumed that it's fact. You might want to do a little more research and provide some links before you try to shout down others beliefs or else you'll embarrass yourself again.

    • @alcatraz1147
      @alcatraz1147 Před 7 lety +22

      Josh Potts Right, so when the allies executed the Nazi party leaders at the Nuremberg trials, were they murders? Or when an army executes a deserter, are they murderers? No. This may come as a surprise to weak stomached people like yourself, but war is as violent as it is necessary. This is exceptionally true in a revolution. In a revolution, it is a struggle to the death for both sides, simple as that. Could you imagine if after the second world war, the allies allowed Gobbles to still control Germany? It would have undone all the war had just accomplished. Don't fool yourself into believing that Cuba was a paradise under Bautista either (a capitalist by the way). The Cuban army preformed executions on the civilian population for "suspected rebel activities". While yes, Che did receive appeals while commanding the garrison at La Cabana, he did not directly contribute to the trials and executions.
      books.google.ca/books?id=x635XRaM40wC&pg=PA92&lpg=PA92&dq=Revolutionary+tribunal+in+Cuba&source=bl&ots=8N2-7M6j2o&sig=6waPNTCaQmt85vAni3G2yF1_ulo&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj3-LbF5J7RAhWk7YMKHdzfBb0Q6AEIPTAJ#v=onepage&q=Revolutionary%20tribunal%20in%20Cuba&f=false
      If you don't have the nerve for war and revolution, that's fine. It's a violent and ugly thing. However, you cannot claim with any validity that Che or other revolutionaries are "Murders" just because you don't like the ideology they fought for. Oh and a quick heads up, the correct spelling is Communist.

      Ha. I guess all of history is "hearsay" if you don't like it.
      When I make comments in favor of the Iraq War, you can try to use that distraction. Otherwise, it is irrelevant to this discussion.
      One thing you're right about, though. Che did die like a filthy, flea infested dog. Those who saw him when they pulled him out of Churro Ravine said how pitiful he appeared. Like a bum.
      Finally, plenty of people have the "cajones" to do what Che did - which is to say, the picked up a rifle in defense of their country. I'm one of them. I doubt a true keyboard warrior like yourself can say the same.
      Che was a murderous thug who got what he deserved at the hands of Green Beret-trained Bolivians. After he was killed, they chopped off his hands and buried him in an unmarked grave on an abandoned airstrip, given exactly the military honors he deserved.

    I'm specifically referring to this nonsense "the embargo doesn't allo Cuba to trade with the US. However....Cuba is free to trade with any other country in the world and buy anything they need from any other country. " First of all you're right every single country in the UN except the US and Israel are against the "embargo", however if a country/company trades with Cuba they cannot trade with the US for 6 months. That greatly hinders who trades with them.

    Pay attention. I said that he never killed a civilian, which is consider to be a fundamentally different social category than that of soldier, politician, or any other rank that serves the state. It's the oppressed versus the oppressors, and Che absolutely executed oppressors as any true revolutionary ought to. If he didn't like blacks, then why did he risk his life for the Congolese? If he thought Mexicans were stupid, why did he fight for a unified Latin America? Etc., etc., etc.

  • @MissySurya
    @MissySurya Před 14 lety

    For those who say Cuba is in bad shape nowadays and blame Che... if he was alive, Cuba would be totally different, and so would the rest of Latin America. Cuba is like it is because Cubans didn't have the guts to continue the revolution and many fled to America while those who stayed were too afraid to show their discontentment .

    You can see that with your eyes, theres pictures of Che doing "Trabajo Voluntario" (Voluntary work), wich basically is a way in wich people themselve construct what they need, and the state just supplies the resources. Many of the biggest community these days, (great example Alamar) were done trough this, and he was the ideologist behind making this a reality. No matter if people like communism or not, Che is beyond that, he was a Hero, an example, to all generations.

    @murfdasurfer Yet he is top 100 of the most influential men of the 20th century. Thanks to him now in modern time governments realize that if they commit the same mistakes they did back when, people will react cuz they don't forget. Government knows what unions, syndicates, organized commoners are capable of if their rights are violated. And there's many other civil rights organizations based on Che's ideals not from a political perspective but the fact that we all deserve equal opportunities.

    “If the nuclear missiles had remained (in Cuba), we would have fired them against the heart of the US, including New York City. The victory of socialism is well worth millions of atomic victims.” Guevara

    he was aiding the black panther party and was freinds with malcom X and jessie jackson praises him.and envisioned an independent african american state in michigan or ILL.

    @TheTnuggs I see what you're saying: they were both fighting for what they believed in. I wouldn't put him on the same level as GW tho. Or the same category.
    Like when GW won his revolution there were revolts from American citizens, but GW didn't start rounding ppl up to be tied to a pole so he could personally blow their brains out in public like Che. I think GW actually pardoned the only ppl brought to trial after the Whiskey rebellion. I don't think anyone in Guanahacabibes got pardoned.
