  • Esperanza offers a little background on what Western Pleasure is all about.
    Esperanza is training to be the first Black woman to win a World Championship in APHA history. But first she’ll have to learn to ride western pleasure, attend a bunch of shows seasoning herself and her horses, and manage the emotional ups and downs of putting your all into a life long dream. Thing is... you get to watch it all on fold on the Riding To Win At 40 CZcams Series.

    The horse’s movements are so beautiful! My horse is a speed demon so I’m working on teaching him how to collect.

    I did western pleasure and I never used spurs.

      And it’s not painful to the horse.. contrary to popular belief.

      Yea when you use spurs is mainly when they still have there balls and that’s what the Mexicans use when they dance with the horses so I find that pretty cool

    Oh yes lets use draw reins and spurs to force collection and move painfully slow. What happened to AQHA? They were moving much better in the 70s.

    It looks painful in the hind ends of these horses. Hope they have a good chiropractor and massage therapist

    1:07 is that a scar from spurring?

    • @grace953
      @grace953 Před 8 měsíci +2

      Nope! It’s a paint that’s just the horses markings, a scar mark would be more pink and most of the time depending on how bad the scar is the majority of them have no hair.

      yes, they develop white hair where a scar is

    Why do the horses not move their tails? It is because they are numbed because they are not supposed to swish it?

    • @coraleed8554
      @coraleed8554 Před 2 lety +5

      Horses will only swish their tails if they have flies on them or if they are anxious/uncomfortable. These horses are relaxed so they don't move their tail.

    • @kristensizer
      @kristensizer Před 2 lety +5

      @@coraleed8554 Most of the tails of the western pleasure horses are unusually limp for extended amounts of time though. It seems very odd that they all do not have at least a small tail reaction to an itch, leg cue…

      @@kristensizer the western pleasure community (just like the dressage world) is flawed in many ways. Humans overuse their control over horses but in this case in breeding. QH's used for western pleasure are disproportionate their hooves are small, legs are long and thin but their body mass is too big for them to carry it without effort. Because of that they struggle with joint pain and their body literally cannot hold them up anymore. Maybe that has something to do with their tails being limp for so long? (btw all I've written may sound ridiculous but when you dig into info about horses from All American Quarter Horse Congress, or quarters in general you can find some sad things happening behind the scenes)

    • @knk4ever83
      @knk4ever83 Před 11 měsíci +1

      No they’re not numbed!

    • @ceilingunlimited-cp5kq

      Most don’t move their tails because they are wearing fake tail extensions that have steel weights in them. Some extensions the weights are removable so you can adjust the weight. Just Google weighted QH tail extension and you’ll see photos of what they look like.
