When we focus on how we can use what we learn for our own benefit or to make us look better, this is how ego gets a credential from learning. Some people have incredible memories, but it doesn’t take the place of just looking at what something is before the accumulation of concepts and ideas takes over. The way we study the Dharma encourages a deeper understanding.
