  • In October 2023, Charles Sturt University held its first overnight schools immersive hands-on workshop day at its Wagga Wagga campus for students interested in an agriculture, animal, and vet science career. Featuring schools and students from Tamworth and Armidale government and non-government schools.
    Check out the workshops and activities the students got up to, and view the amazing on-campus facilities, and most importantly hear from the high school teachers and students.
    • Welcome to Wagga Wagga - ideally located in the heart of the NSW food bowl and centre of diverse farming systems, broad acre cropping, irrigation, and mixed farming.
    • Tour the Charles Sturt Global Digital Farm - equine facilities, rhizolysimeter, cattle yards, sheep yards, gen z drought resistance farmlets, digital agriculture technologies and more…
    • Learning sessions on:
    o Understand digital agriculture and how data collection and interpretation can be used to increase productivity.
    o Red Meat Innovation Centre - learn how meat is assessed in terms of quality, fat, muscle content and colour and see some of the lates technology developed for the meat industry.
    o Viticulture and wine - take a tour of our experiential winery and learn more about the chemistry of wine production.
    o Soil saves the world - understand the role of soil carbon and identify types of soil organic matter.
    o Brush up your animal anatomy and get up close with our animal skeletons in a hands-on workshop.
