- What do you get when you combine seven fantastic musicians, great writing, and the joy of performing together? Styx’s 17th studio album Crash of the Crown, produced by Will Evankovich - the man behind the boards for the band’s previous studio masterpiece, The Mission.
The recording sessions for Crash of the Crown mainly took place in Tommy Shaw’s home studio in Nashville, where the frontman experiments with a banjo for the first time. And, of course, it includes the legendary sounds of his guitars, a mandolin, and his undeniable voice.
It’s catchy, uplifting, and harmonious, ironically the same key adjectives that seem to describe the bands’ passion and zest for creating not only in the studio but live on stage for their legions of loyal fans; old and new. We were fortunate to catch up with Shaw recently while he was on tour to hear all about it and more. This is a LifeMinute with Tommy Shaw.
