are mana! hari, harijana nahim doya
O mind! God and Guru are not separate.
jaham hari taham harijana, jaham harijana, taham hari bilaga na hoya
Where there is God, there is Guru; where there is Guru, there is God.
Doü rahata dãsa douna ko, marama na jãne koya
Both are servants of one another, and this secret is unknown to even the greatest of scholars.
Doü kara para upakãra nirantara, patitana-mana mala dhoya
Because of Their benevolent nature, both are constantly occupied with washing the sins of worldly people.
jala, tarañga doü nãma upãdhi, vastutastu ika soya
As ‘jal’ (water)and ‘tarang’ (wave) are two names for the same thing, so are God and Guru two names for one and the same personality.
