This is stellar!!!! Do some guitarists that finger pick grow their finger nails out? If my finger nails are not super trimmed, they grab the strings and its a feeling I don't like at all so I try to trim my finger nails as short as possible before trying to practice any type of finger picking.

Thanks! Typically no, guitarists don’t grow their nails out unless it’s classical or flamenco. I keep mine super trimmed as well. Thanks again for the comment! Cheers!

Been playing 40:years, but it must have been under a rock because a live Stray cats video popped in my feed the other day. I’m hooked and can’t wait to get stuck in. Thanks for this.

Excellent tutorial! Thank you very much! One option that you may not have tried, is that there are now commercially available flat picks incorprated into either a flexible or rigid band that allows flat picking in addition to more conventional finger picking patterns.

Oh wow. No I wasn’t aware of such a pick. Do you happen to know the brand? I would like to check it out! Thanks for the comment!

Forgot to ask in my last comment... I've been trying to get better at finger picking for years. I find it so hard to play the bass notes and lower strings at the same time without messing it up especially when a hammer on is involved, in particular when I think about what I'm doing I end up messing it up. What are some ways I could try to get around that? Should I play bass note and lower strings independently for a really long time until I don't even think about it and then try to mix them together? At times I am consciously thinking to play the bass note and the lower string notes at the same exact time and it makes it easier to start off that way and keep it going until I start to think again.

Yeah I had the same issue for a long time. What I did was just practice two notes at a time. So thumb finger hammer on. Then add the thumb again for a third note, and play it slowly. And I would start to add one note at a time until I got pattern going. And over time my fingers and thumb started working independently. Wood shedding the Chet Atkins stuff really helped. Hope that helps. I’m making another finger picking video soon and going over this stuff in more detail. Cheers!

Hi, i just checked the links it’s still working. When you click on the link it should open a tab to the pdf in your browser, then you can download it from there.

@@theteledynes thank you so much for double check. I think it was my browser that wasn't updated. I've tried on another browser and finally could find the tabs. Really appreciate. Congratulations for your beautiful work. And thank you once more.
