Less than 300 hp can be easily managed with FWD, more than that becomes harder to control and AWD comes into place. I knew the Accord would win, hands down. The Subaru Engine is strong, but the CVT kills the performance and the AWD loses power to the wheels in performance testing. However, this race is pointless because no Legacy owner would buy one to race, they are mature, family cars, soft, comfy, roomy, smooth, stable, built for safety. The Accord still has that racy Honda vibe, it's more childish and surprinsingly fast for it's looks, it depends on what you want.

Except for the WRX and WRX STI Subaru have been de-sportifying their Cars. They stopped making Turbo charged Legacies and then started back because of public outcry but made them less performance than the GT/GT Spec b models and the GT models from the 5th generation. Then they stopped making Turbo Forresters. So there is a general theme of making their cars less performance oriented. While other companies have been increasing their power output Subaru has maintained the power on the STI @ 305 HP for 10 years.

My 2018 Accord 1.5T just had a fuel injector fail at 58k error code P0172 (posted on my channel). Modern Honda look amazing but once the 3yr/36k warranty expires you're on your own and you have no idea how expensive modern Honda engines are to fix. Oil changed at 80%, Shell regular used 80% of the time, always did warm up the car in the winter. Dealer so out of touch they recommended brake fluid replacement at 30k. I've never seen this part fail in ANY of my past cars. When asked why the injector failed so early Dealer said they see them all the time and cost of replacement is $1600-$2500 (must replace all 4) and the new injectors warranty is only for 12k/12mos! I was in love and bought the 1st Accord on the lot with series ending in -0001 but when I made a case with Honda to see if it could be part of a bad batch all I got was the VM of the case manager for weeks on end. Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice...

You can't really brake torque that CVT. I have a 3.0r outback and I have the accord 2.0t until 45mph or so where he starts catching up again if I launch well.
The legacy is bland. Also my outback has a horrible dead spot between 68mph and 80mph. It then hits harder and you can feel the timing change. But most cars with equal power catch up slightly around that speed and and then after 80mph it starts pulling again. Weird ass car. Might be something wrong with the VVT.
