There IS a latch. He even took the camera to the back, pointed it at the keyhole where the latch is located behind. Semantics aside, what Ford DID NOT DO is include a trunk RELEASE button, cable, actuator etc., that releases the lid from the latch. Don’t pick nits unless you want yours picked.
If your key worked originally in the keyhole, then take some WD-40, with the straw on it, poke it through the key hole, spray the crap out of it. Put your key back in, wiggle it around, left and right, a little. You do not want to force it. Repeat, repeat and repeat, until it finally breaks free. The key pins inside the cylinder are gummed up with crap and just need some lube. If the Key did not work, in the beginning, your cylinder may be damaged, internally. But it's still worth a try, to spray it with WD-40.

In my daughter’s 2007, trunk release is in glove box on left hand side outside of the box but still have to open it to get to it
