  • How does the new DJI Inspire 3 compare to the Inspire 2? The comparison between these two drones is big and the upgrades on the Inspire 3 are massive BUT the inspire 2 still holds its ground in a few areas. We will compare image quality in video and photo modes of the Inspire 3 vs Inspire 2. and some of the biggest upgrades are in the flight handling, signal link and FPV camera feeds.

    The Inspire 2 had SDK support with 3rd party apps like Litchi with a far more advanced Waypoint system that actually allowed you to plan perfect orbit missions and also visually see the curved route with full control over the curve degree, along with a plethera of other features and waypoint controls. The I3 lacks this.

    There is one major drawback to the new I3 SSD, it's read speed is about 2.5x slower. I noticed you were showing the original I2 SSD reader, The newer version thunderbolt reader would read at close to 2500MB/s where the I3 SSD only reads at close to 950MB/s. The difference this makes is noticeable when using the card to edit directly from and also the offload times. The I2 SSD with thunderbolt reader would have no issues or hiccups when cutting 4K RAW footage directly from the card... this isn't the case with the I3 SSD which is much slower. It's a pretty big tradeoff for the convenience factor of not having to use a reader.

  • @srandall31
    @srandall31 Před 9 měsíci +1

    I like the portability and form factor of the new charger for the I3, BUT, the DJI Charging Station for the I2 had a major advantage over it. It could discharge unused fully charged batteries for storage. You cannot do that with the I3 chargers. You must rely on the auto discharge feature is starts at a 2 day minimum and takes an additional 5 days to discharge to 60%. This is not ideal as the longer a battery stays fully charged after 24 hours, the harder it is on the battery and reduces the life expectancy, and at double the cost of the TB-50s, this is not good. Also, it would be nice if DJI offered the ability to re-charge a lot of batteries at 30% or less back up to 60% (the ideal storage percentage). You have to monitor one set of batts at a time to do this manually.

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  Před 9 měsíci

      True however I found that I almost never put the drone away for any length of time with the batteries fully charged.

    • @srandall31
      @srandall31 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Another disadvantage is that with the TB-50s, you could reset the auto discharge cycle back to zero just by pressing the button on the battery. You cannot do this with the TB-51s. So if you have fully charged batteries left over from a day's mission, and they're set to start to auto discharge in two days, and you have another shoot in two days, you can't simply reset the timer by pressing the button. Those batteries will start to auto discharge on the day of your shoot.

    In addition to the I3 lacking AEB, it lacks burst and pano features. DJI reps have even openly stated in their own support group that they feel these features are not professional features and that's why they are in the consumer drones. This viewpoint from DJI is a sad one. At least we got them to see the light on 'timed shots'.

I find for recreation use it's great but I can see by your comparison the i3 would be a great upgrade, as it's more than 20K here to buy I feel tempted but remember just recreation. Great video as always Jake. That night footage in particular is insane.
    I cannot afford, nor would I want to fly, this beast but I like to keep up with the cutting edge so I know what might be coming down the pipe to the smaller drones. So, with that in mind, one thing you didn't cover in the video, but that I'd like to hear your thoughts on, is which of this tech is likely to come down the model line and when (in your opinion obviously :) ).
    Another thing I'm curious about (and may have missed if you mentioned it) is how feasible is something like this to fly/use as a solo operator? Can one treat it like a big Mavic essentially if one wanted? This question is mostly just out of curiosity.
    I am passionate about landscape photography and time lapse and I use my Sony cameras and Mavic 3 Cine to get the best shots I can. But, in the future, my ultimate dream is a drone with a full frame camera, with enough resolution to create 8k hyperlapses. This drone meets those needs, but alas, is way to huge to realistically use (not to mention the cost is high for a non-professional like me). If only I could figure out a way for my Mavic to carry up my A7RV!

    • @JakeSloan
      @JakeSloan  Před 9 měsíci +2

      You can operate it like a mavic if you are flying it solo. But it also lacks the ability to do hyperlapses etc which I find odd considering the rest of DJI drones all have that functionality

    The problem is the Inspire 3 is made more for professionals and is ridiculously expensive as it's not for personal use, I think they made a big mistake doing that considering that anyone who wants to buy the Inspire 3 we'll have to pay a really hefty price for it, they should have had an affordable version of the Inspire 3, the Inspire 2 was at least affordable for personal consumers, in my opinion they screwed up with that price jump, the inspire 2 was normally priced.

    Hello, I sent a PM on facebook , the main #1 problem inspire 2 day one out of the box is the propellers, which because of vibration just destroys many components, DJI never offered any solution this problem!!! And made it worse by red locktite propellers bases to motors , causeing the user to change motor to just put Carbon Fiber props on or just change bases, i changed so many bases and never worked without vibrating even new bases and propellers after one flight I would be grounded!!!!

      @JakeSloan  Před 7 měsíci

      I flew for years with multiple units most without a patch. The one I used for comparison had a patch only for this video. The range is night and day difference. The battery charge is a massive upgrade. The batteries I don’t think are an upgrade in flight time but they do perform better so far. We will see over time. I went through over 100 I2 battery pairs because they became puffy so easily. Time will tell with these but so far they seem better. I didn’t get paid a damn thing for this video instead I took 2 days of my time and drove around to film this then another day to edit it. All to help people who get to watch the video for free.

    Really disappointing about the speed control dial for gimbal control (and flight control) not available on the new remote. Also the fact that you don’t have SDI out! Unbelievable that it doesn’t have it! Well I know why it’s because they took the, I think the M30/M30T industrial controller and made it compatible with the Inspire 3. Very very disappointing for not just adding that interface. But other than that, the Inspire 3 is a beast, everything else is just in another level. Such a welcoming upgrade after 7? years? One cendance remote there is a small dial on the side that would control the max gimbal speed so you could start with very slow movement on the gimbal but then if you needed to speed it up (tracking cars etc) you could roll the dial on the side and have the gimbal speed ramp up to max. I hope they are able to give us AF-continuous some day

      @@SkyPathProductions the cendence controller had a dial on the right side of the controller which you can set to be used as a speed dial for the gimbal speed (or for the pilot to limit the maximum speed, which is useful for example where you need limit your max speed to match say a tracking vehicle in a commercial when he/she is driving at a predetermined speed). This dial you get on RC transmitters(controllers) like the Futaba for the Alta 8 or Alta X for example.
