If you want to really understand how to modulate between major and relative minor keys, 'Beautiful Love' (King/Young/Alstyne) is a great song to learn.
In this video I break down how the harmony relates to the minor scale.
I played 4 choruses of improvised solo on the vibes, and the whole transcription is available from my website (as usual).
I was kind of inspired on this one and got into some one-handed roll stuff towards the end ;)

That’s a good idea.. Monk tunes are so hard because they are so specific in character that it’s difficult to play them like regular jazz tunes. Round Midnight is a good place to start though.
