This is they way the Hellraiser set should've been released to begin with. 4 individual cases with the option of the original artwork, so i'm happy they're doing these.

Glad these exist.
I can be a package collector, but only for the right price. I prefer spreading my money around on multiple movies, so this re-release is calling my name, especially since I was saving all my money up this past year for black friday to get caught up on all the releases since March, lol.
This Hellraiser pack having individual cases for each film are great, too.
They are re-releasing Witness on 4K too. I think it is another limited edition in February around the same time as the others.
I’m happy with the earlier releases. Saving my money for something down the line. I’m sure something that’s a must have for the collection will becoming soon.

@@RealDyl18 LOL. All the same discs. I don't really care as much as some over a bit better packaging, lots of people's level of obsession with that stuff is a bit weird. A lot of the people that get giddy over that crap the films themselves are a secondary thought which is just dumb.
To be honest I hated that the Quartet of Torment set didnt have individual cases and the artwork was ok to me but this one with cases and 10x better artwork imo including all the cenobites is heaven sent.

I like the cover art on the quartet better but I feel you on the separate cases. That's the main reason I didn't buy it. This is exactly what I wanted. At least the covers are reversible and we can have the original art
I think you just answered your own question Ken. It was totally a rights issue. I think that Universal would've charged Arrow again to include the original Psycho again.
Yup. I remember being shocked with how heavily promoted Universal's 4K was for Psycho on 4K, from Slipcover editions to that gorgeous OG One Sheet Steelbook, it seemed that Uni was having fun with it. When I saw it in the box, with unique artwork, I thought Arrow got a bit of a steal getting P1 in there with newly pressed discs. Clearly because it was an LE, they gave it a pass. Wouldn't shock me if Uni is prepping Psycho for the next round of "Universal Essentials". P1 seems right in that wheelhouse.

The artwork for the Hellraiser set is lacking imo. It looks like artwork you'd see on a cheaper release coming from the studio directly, rather then something you'd see from a boutique label like Arrow, SHOUT Factory etc.
Why would anyone complain about this. If you want the cheaper set sell the previous limited edition for triple what you paid and buy the new one with the profits.
News flash ken. They used different art so dopes would double dip.
If you go to orbit DVD you can buy the 4K set for $80. They still have them in stock. It’s the trail of torment set with 1,2 ,3 and bloodlines.
Ordered the Tetraology , and Psycho 4K boxsets in the Arrow sale. I have the first Psycho in the Hitchcock collection . Got them both for £70.
This new release of PSYCHO has only the sequels II, III and IV ! For me it is not complete set as it doesn’t include PSYCHO! Also the Box set doesn’t include the booklet , the posters of each film and the cards. I am happy to picked up the PSYCHO Box Set with the four movies!!!
literally crying rn lmao. I would have preferred to buy both of those over the other sets, Individual cases for hellraiser and i didn’t need the first psycho on 4k. Ughhh oh well

The Quartet of Torment box set is way better looking, but I know I'd get annoyed having to unravel it all every single time just to watch one movie. Really hoping they continue with the individual releases while using similar artwork with the original Cenobites on the cover. That would be one hell of a collection!
I like the early Hellraiser films best , but didn’t care as much if I did or didn’t get the limited edition elements . Luckily , I seemed to notice the unlimited being solicited and held off in buying the LE. I got the standard arrow Hellraiser 4K box …… and saved a little more as I ordered after available , and used my points from prior purchases . Very pleased .
I also got the Psycho limited box when it first came out …… all the early films in one place , remastered and on 4K !!

I didn't know the heraiser set sold out so fast. I feel lucky to have both the hellraiser and psycho sets now. I haven't gotten around to watching either of em though 😂
YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!!! PSYCHO II AND 3 ON 4K!!! Both movies took the top spot for my 4K wishlist after The Lost Boys and Prince of Egypt got 4k releases, but especially Psycho 3! Such a grimmy, contrasty, and colorful film that is made for a Dolby Vision transfer. This set and Aliens are my most anticipated releases for 2024. I don't know how the limited edition Psycho set flew under my radar, but I'm perfectly happy snagging this and the original on its own down the line. Somebody please give me Secret of Nimh next :)
Physical media is soooo much cheaper in UK!
I live in Brazil and UK Amazon is much chapear than the US one, even tough pounds are more expensive than dollars. But most blu rays are region B, such a shame.

I'm not a fan of that Tetralogy artwork but I guess if you just want the movies then it's a good price. If the 4K of Quartet hadn't sold out so fast I'd probably have picked that up 😞but I'm not paying silly prices on ebay for it. I was expecting them to do that Hellraiser individual release with that great artwork from the Quartet on it...I'm certain they'll also do Hellbound and will use the great artwork that was on the "direct from Arrow limited edition" Quartet set (chatter cenobyte ?). I'm not sure if they'll do three and four individually but if it happens I expect they'll have cenobytes from 3&4 on the covers (which don't look anywhere near as good...Amazon prime are using these images for 4K rentals).
For Hellraiser, I still plan on making my own custom covers and put them in individual cases.
The Hellraiser set makes sense to me, they probably went with the 4 individual cases because they’re cheaper to produce than the digipaks, this then required them to come up with new individual art for each case and since the design of the last boxset didn’t really provide that they went with a new idea to make this set feel more cohesive. Just a guess but that makes sense to me. They could’ve used the chatterer image from the Arrow exclusive cover and had two more cenobites drawn up in that same style for this set but I think that would’ve made people more upset who already bought the other box because it would then be including artwork that wasn’t present on that LE version. I prefer the packaging on the scarlet box with the individual cases, I wish they’d done that again with this set and utilized the original posters but I do appreciate the design they went with still.
Ok let’s step back and think about these releases. Hellraiser this new set doesn’t have the hardback book and less exclusive packaging. The Psycho set are just all the sequels without the original which has had an individual 4k release for a while, saves double dipping. I think it’s easy to overthink a double release such as this. A bit random but not the end of the world.
I just received my tetralogy on 4k and I didn't realize the sleeves are reversible. One side has the cenobites the other has the original movie artwork. I am so happy about that because the cenobites purple cover is awful. The original movie artwork is where it's at. Happy I bought this and not the quartet which doesn't give the individual cases.
I'll definitely pick this hellraiser 4k and pyscho boxsets up. I couldn't justify buying the other boxset for like $120 plus. I'm good with just having them on 4k

I prefer the Quartet of torment because having them all together in the box connects them all as a full story. I already have the individual cases on the dvds. Buts thats just me. Plus the 200 page book that comes with it.
I purchased this set . It’s fantastic ! Unfortunately I missed out on the first 4K set , so it gives people like me another chance ❤

Geez, I got the Quartet, now there’s a “tetralogy” (what the heck!)?! I really wish this kind of titles were handled by a different company, for example, Vinegar Syndrome. VS makes so beautiful slipcovers and booklets that make you fall in love with the movies even if they aren’t that good.
I own the Quartet of Torment. I am a little salty that it didn't come with individual cases when they had this standard edition likely in the works. Like huh? The more expensive set should come with individual cases and the cheaper standard should have a digipak.
When I saw the announcement for the hellraiser the tweet came up on watch while I was working and I thought initially it was a bunch more of the sequels
Sadly the companies that own those ones will not give them the rights
They had bloodline from the start they just didn't have enough resources to release a 2k scanned version next to other 3 and they didn't feel like it was worth trying because 3&4 rights are u.k only

Don't really see the issue. If you have the original releases which are superior. You can sell for a good price as they are out of print.
And get any of these if you prefer.

This is pretty much standard procedure for Arrow, you release a collector's edition first then the standard edition later. I'm sure they'll be a Tremors 2 and The Warriors 4K standard edition coming soon.
Very good move from Arrow. Probably half of the first limited releases were bought only to be sold on the secondary market, at inflated prices. That's just not fair for the real movie aficionados, who wanted to buy these box-sets at fair prices and were left empty handed. And no, I do not agree that we should have known beforehand about the company's intentions. The limited edition was a completely different package. It's exactly the same situation with the Scarlet Box edition versus the "standard" Hellraiser box set that followed it.
Already got the Quartet of Torment on 4K so imma be picking up the blu ray version of the tetralogy that way I can watch them if I ever have a roadtrip, go to a friends house who doesn’t have a 4k player, and I can sell off my old Hellraiser 1 and 2 blu rays now! But I’m not buying it straight up yet, gonna wait a bit cause of personal reasons
I love the box set with all four and it looks amazing with the shower scene on the side with that skeeve looking like a shower liner.... it's my favorite box set of the year....
As someone who didn't buy the first Hellraiser set, I'm glad the 2nd round is going to be cheaper. I do think the artwork on the 1st is better but me being more price conscious I may just pick up this rerelease.

I understand your frustration and some of your viewers frustration with companies like Arrow, putting out a big release and then later putting out the same content but in different packaging.
With Hellraiser, they've had the rights for the first 3 films since the Scarlet box set. Those 3 BDs got various reissues.
When any label/studio works on a box set, the will have a limit they want to release as a Collector's Edition. For example 5000 units.
However. To make things cheaper they will have 10,000 disc's printed.
If the box set does as well as they forecast, they can then release the other 5000 disc's.
Because the first release is stipulated as "Collector's Edition" (as an example) then any subsequent releases have to by law I believe, look different. To distinguish them from the Collector's Edition.
The difference only has to be small, like no Slipcover or no number where previously an Edition was numbered.
With Psycho. I imagine Arrow only had the rights to the 4K for the initial BD and UHD box set. Thus they've done the 10k print run of the disc (maybe different artwork on the disc face which they could stipulate to the pressing plant, 5000 like this and 5000 like this.
They wouldn't give all their plans and options incase they didn't sell. Then they'd be left with thousands of unwanted product.
The reason, for example the An American Werewolf In London had a BD box set followed a few months later by a 4K release exactly the same is cost affective for them.
10k packaging, then 5k BD box sets and 5000 4K box set. The remaining 5000 disc's from both BD and UHD press runs will become the standard edition later down the line.
Sorry for the long comment but I think you and your viewers will feel happier if you understood why these releases happen as they do.

I think after MaxXXine comes out, they'll do a 4K Trilogy boxset Exclusive to the A24 website. If I had to guess.
I own the Hellraiser 4K boxset, and honestly I kind of like the cover art better for this standard release lol. I’m not sure why peeps are mad, I new standards were coming before they were even announced. Arrow always does this, there is also the new 3 film Kung fu sets that covers the first Shaw bros vol 1 set and vol 2 will follow. Arrow always does this. The only stuff that is truly limited in regards to once they are gone they are gone are German mediabook releases and stuff of that nature

Yes, that disc is obviously not included. Limited Edition only.

I bought the Torment set because they re-released the Bruce Lee films separately without a outer box and wanted to keep the Hellraisers within a boxset. I still have the re-released 2016 Arrow Hellraiser set so they have done the same thing but added Bloodline. If Arrow had announced both versions at same time, I would have waited for this new boxset.
I think people have enough of these limited edition packaging and just want to go back to basic with cases.

Only somewhat questionable thing is the stand alone release of the 1st one. But I’m guessing that one is targeted for casual buyer. It’s the most popular one so that’s probably why

Are you new here lol. These are the standard editions for when or if not already the limited edition sets sell out and go out of print. And these are cheaper too for people who don’t want the limited deluxe ones. Arrow have been doing this for years
I understand that, but I think this is a little different then the norm, which is why I thought it worth commenting on.
The Psycho sequel 4K set is shady. Already had the original Psycho on 4K and it was the first title I doubled dipped on in the 4K format buying the original Arrow box set. I don't care about the packaging and extras. If the sequel box set was available back in September/ October at $20.00-$25.00 cheaper that would have been my choice.
I am a sucker and bought this set just so I can have the OG art. I'm a sucker because I did grab both versions of the Quartet. Would I have done it different if they were released in opposite order? Not sure. :)

I think the other sets are better and with the books make it worth it with me.

Having another chance to get the movies i'm 4K is awesome, and if an unhappy deluxe box set owner is ofended by these new releases, I will happilly exchange my new release for their deluxe. I"ll even give them the diference in cash (as long as they don't get greedy and decide their used set worth double the price)

Hey Ken! As someone who recently started importing boutique label titles- can region B blu rays operate on 4K UHD players?
While the 4Ks themself have no regions, the Blu Ray section of the player is sadly still region-locked. So no, an american 4K player won't play a region B Blu Ray.
Just get a region free blu ray player
... or a Region B player since your 4K player already plays Region A Blu Rays and Region C is rarely needed for westeners.
Missed out on both the limited edition versions, so I’ll definitely be purchasing both of these. Hopefully they won’t be flimsy cardboard out boxes.

The psycho original box set is better overall value due to the extra items. I do think the newer HellRaiser box set is better due to the individual cases. Arrow uk had to know they were doing this. Redicolous.
I like Arrow, but this is a pretty crappy thing to do to those that bought the initial set. I bought both the 4k set and the Blu-ray set. If I had known they were going to do this with the individual cases (and much cheaper) I would've waited. Thanks Arrow!
What made you think there would be no follow-up after the Limited Editions?
I think if you have the Quartet set then you have the best version but if you prefer this set you could always sell one of your Quartets and recoup what you paid for it (or make a profit, especially if unopened) and then buy this one to replace it.
Ken is heated I can tell. After getting the UK Hellraiser here's the US version!
As far as Hellraiser is concerned - and being a horror fan - I will probably never watch it again, at least none of the sequels. So having the first as a standalone is a tempting option.
I missed out on the original release definitely won’t be paying that crazy $200 price tag to get it. The repackaging of this does not look good at all. If I do decide to buy it I’ll wait till June July when Arrow Video has their next big half off sale.

None of this is new. They usually do a Limited Edition box set and then a standard edition. Look at Gamera. The LE boxset was big and had the discs in a slip kinda packaging, whereas the standard edition came in a box set with individual cases, which I have. I didn't even know about the Gamera set until a year or so later. I decided to research it and found the LE packaging was really cheap looking and the standard set had plastic cases, which I prefer to the paper sleeves that can damage a disc.
I believe the Hersahall Gordon Lewis set was similar. You already mentioned the Empire of screams set.
I didn't get the Hellraiser LE because I didn't like the packaging. I knew that they would bring a standard edition out with better packaging. At least the kind I like.

Oh, oh, oh! Regarding the Child's Play box set; I didn't get that either because I am sure they will be putting those out in individual cases, too, which I, again, prefer.

I'm going to sell my Quartet of Torment set, buy the Tetralogy, throw away the purple cardboard, and flip each case to its original artwork. I hate the fold out nonsense in the Quartet box.

Arrow have gone down the pan lately with these constant re releases, there's plenty of movies they could be covering like The Tale of Sweeney Todd 1997 or Dead End 2003.

Crumby cash grab. The fact that the Quartet is missing the poster and the original artwork is kinda bullsh*t. I like the Quartet but a poster should have been included originally.
I don’t know why but I own this set and the 4K transfer is garbage on this one. Sometimes it looks crystal clear and then all the sudden it looks like you’re watching a VHS tape I don’t know what they did during the transfer but it ain’t right.
If you’re talking about Hellraiser, I only saw that on the 3rd film. And there was some source material issues with that film.
@@midlevelmedia I noticed it on the first one and pretty bad on the second one very noticeable on the third one and I haven’t watched bloodlines yet. I just got it in the mail the other day and decided to watch them with my daughter because she had never seen Hellraiser and I own mini sets, but I wanted her to see it in 4K so I was a little disappointed, but the other set thatis all in one case that supposed to be a magnificent transfer so I’m waiting for that one to show up now. In the meantime, I’m either forced to watch it on Blu-ray or DVD although the Japanese did a great Hellraiser Hellraiser two and Hell on earth.
