@@greenpegatrix3773 Jeff Williams asked Monty what the significance of the gravestone was in the Red Trailer. Monty originally had no plan for it, he only added it because it would be “cool if she visited a grave.” Then when Jeff asked what if it was her mom, Monty came up with Summer.

I think that Oz sent her on a suicide mission either accidentally or intentionally. He may have sent her to go after Salem with the illusion that silver eyes work on her (summer wouldn’t know that she’s immortal/unkillable but Oz obviously did and didn’t tell her) where she obviously dies along the way, dies to Salem/her inner circle or gets captured by Salem/her inner circle. It may of been to purposely give Ruby a reason to become a Hunter. Summer might of outlived her usefulness to Oz.
Of course Summer could’ve acted independently as she thought that she could defeat Salem with her silver eyes.
@@Cooldude-ko7ps IIRC Qrow once mentioned that Summer's mission wasn't an Ozpin mission. It was her. So I may put my hand on that second one, she went to Salem because se thought she could somehow stop her with her silver eyes.
Whatever it was though I think we will get to see it eventually.

Yeah, that’s what exactly according to the Rwby trailer is showing up on CZcams and then Roosters Teeth to see the new volume 9 of the RWBY series early in 2023 years after this year.

Yeahhhh I feel like the concept of Summer would be just a slightly bigger emotional thing for Yang - who remembers and knew her - then Ruby - over a mum she hardly remembers… just slightly bigger
Everyone deals with grief differently. Both Yang and Ruby tend to put their feelings on the backburner for the sake of others, but Ruby does it much more often than Yang does. Leading up to the scene with Salem in volume 7, Ruby had already been holding in *so much* pain and the shock of Ironwood's betrayal certainly wouldn't help with it all just...tumbling out. Sure, Yang didn't cry at the mention of Summer, but she looked pretty damn upset regardless, if you asked me.
2:03 Moments like this, with Yang's expression, it's small subtle hints that Yang was clearly impacted heavily by Summer's passing, but keeps it bottled for a multitude of reasons. The biggest one , I'd assume, is for the sake of Ruby. It's only recently that we've finally seen how it's torn Yang up inside and I love to see it.
I agree with this thought but I also think it could be seeing Raven again, even in a photo. Cuz right after Yang makes that expression, Qrow, maybe deliberately, moves his thumb to cover her face. Which I really love cuz it gives the hint as much she has bottled up, Qrow sees it and tries, in his own way, to alleviate some of it
And now we have two more episodes of references for her.
I think summers final mission was an attempt to kill Salim. She realized she had so much in common with the grimm, her eyes might work on her. And if she realised Salim was the one killing siver eyed people, she knew Salim would come for ruby, to kill her daughter.
Qrow: “we were pretty well known back in the day”

Ruby isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer she later goes onto to Yang not to lose to someone in a skirt (Nora) when they arm wrestle only for Weiss to point that she also wears one.

So I ain’t the only one thinking that-
I HAVE THAT FEELING!!!!!!!!!!!! V9 will become my favorite volume if it at least shows Summer's backstory on the facing of Salem to possibly a fight scene and what happened to her. And in a way I want it to be as a hound grimm at first.
You know many complain that the hound reveal wasn’t summer but other silver eye warrior but I bet even if they did there still gonna be a lot of complain

The scene with Salem saying "her again?" kind of makes me feel that way.
Makes me feel like Salem COULD have her hostage or trapped some where.
But its probably more likely that she's dead.

I have a feeling that she may not be dead, but is actually in that place that Ruby and the others landed in.

When and if they find Summer, they HAVE to have Team STRQ be the ones to either kill or free her. Unlike Team RWBY all of them had a connection to her and her "death" was a major impact on all their lives.
To watch the moment Ruby contextually informs Yang that Summer Rose was ultimately turned into a Grimm by Salem....

You know funny thing salem said she heard those words from Summer. Not once has she actually claimed to have killed or converted her. I think salem said things to get under ruby's skin and summer's dissapearence is as much a mystery to her as anyone else.
I hope that when RWBY ends RT pulls an RVB and goes back in time to show us what exactly happend with team STRQ

Summer is alive, and reunites with Ruby and Yang after, what 12 years? This reunion is cut short with Ruby sacrificing herself. The heartache Summer feels of losing one of her daughters yet again is what cracks Salem, from mother to mother.

It would be nice if we got a Flashback with Summer, showing her time in team STRQ, raising Runy and Yang, confrontation with Salem, anything! Most importantly what exactly happened to her, because so far we have assumptions.

And yet we still know almost nothing about her. Her voice, her semblance, her history, how she died, if she actually died or simply disappeared, what her weapon was, all kinds of stuff.
In V9 we know what her weapon is ! It's a mix between axe and gun because she's the hunter in the same fairytale as Ruby

Now we finally know the reason. Raven cared, but she felt like she wouldn't be a good parent, and left Summer/Taiyang to raise Yang instead. I bet she regrets leaving now considering how things turned out, but is too afraid to face her family given what happened to Summer.

@@eren34558 Consider this: Tai may not have fathered Ruby, but he does raise her well. Qrow raised Ruby too, but Ruby does look more like Qrow and looks up to him more. And think of the interesting story they can explore with Qrow and Summer. Of course it would be a incredibly sad and tragic, but it adds another layer of depth to Qrow.
