When trying to introduce people to AoS the answer I usually get is "I'm not into the lore", but when I question further they usually only have a very vague surface impression of it mostly from hearsay. I think that's AoS's largest problem, it's lore needs to be more visible, because it does have cool lore, but it just doesnt get to those who don't give AoS a second chance as it's buried in books and codexes, especially with the stormcast eternals, which are just "sigmarines" to them. I think this video is a good help in changing that honestly. It's good stuf.
Honestly its mainly due to absence of secondary media. 40k has tons of video games and fan animations that get people interested in it. Even Warhammer Fantasy got a revival in popularity thanks to Vermintide and Total War that no doubt is a major reason behind its return as The Old World. AoS had a few video games but none of them are really big hits like those games or Dawn of War was, and high-quality fan content requires it to already be semi-popular in the first palce.
@@Dreadnautilus I'm hoping that in the future AOS gets the recognition it deserves. In addition to the lack of secondary media, AOS had an awful first impression. The mess that was the End Times combined with early AOS's meh lore and bad rules is definitely a factor in its popularity struggle. But AOS is still younger than Fantasy and 40k so there's a good chance we will someday get something that brings a ton of new people in. Hell, a lot of people who have revisited AOS have complimented on how much it's improved, so I think there's a good chance we could get a surge in popularity sometime in the near future. Also helps that a lot of the toxic assholes have either left or burned their armies.

Apparently Frontier, the company who bought the chaos gate developers, is working on their own AOS RTS that's supposed to come out late this year, that sounds promising imo... and apparently Nexon is developing some kind of games that supposed to play like genshin impact, but idk how that ones going to turn out.
@@derpherp7432 My personal issue with it, is that 40k is cool as hell and they killed my fantasy rank and flank game to make this, a game that seems to be fantasy 40k.
@@hades_deathgod9496 Fair bad faith take on what I was saying. I meant from a mechanical point of view. It replaced the rank and flank wargame with a game much closer to 40k with heroes, battlefield rolls, loose units etc but without the history, gravitas and "cool"ness of 40k. Thanks for your reply, it called for me to explain a little better.

This is such a fantastic rundown of SCE. You're dead on with how hard it is to approach due to quantity of model kits. This makes them so much more approachable and understandable, BIG thanks!
Also, I love the realization that each SCE is basically living Doom Guy's best life.

I didn't care for my Stormcast army once I started playing, but this came down to still trying to learn. Utilizing the toolkit available to me I genuinely love my Stormcast now,
Dude this makes me want to play Stormcast so hard. Like, I don't actually play the game, just casually collect and paint at a very slow pace, but some of these models look absolutely swag, especially those Graeco-Roman halberd dudes. Your content is the best, and keeps me interested in AoS more than most GW stuff.

With having a SCE collection of at least 10k, you are aggressively accurate. My only point of contingency is using Yndastra in Knights Excelsior to bring back back the bricks of Protectors and Retributors I run

Yndrasta isn't good for every list, but makes for an excellent pairing with Lord Relictor and Lord Imperatant in a Knights Excelsior list. Being able to revive a Paladin model every hero phase is pretty amazing, paired with reinforced shield Annihilators drastically improves the utility of both.

Really happy ya made this one... as I am finally painting my stormcasts so they arn't just primer black. I like playing them casually. It's a fair army that doesn't just table the enemy but also has good ways of fighting most matchups.

Hey dude, just wanted to say your content has made me get into AoS, specifically Stormcast. Their models and lore are rad as hell, and with a little kit-bashing, they make awesome looking and easy proxies to go along with my Custodes army in 40K. Some of the Custodes range being finecast is mildly annoying. Also probably vice-versa when I start AoS games.
I'm working on a Bastian-Trajann kit-bash right now that I'm quite excited about. I'm magnetizing his arms to swap out their respective weapons and adding some other bits and bobs.

I really like the Sacrosanct models, even if they are still chonkers.
Personally I think any rules that let any unit shoot twice or fight twice in a turn need to go away.. If there is a unit that "needs" to do that, just make their rules a bit better so they no longer need to lol.
I believe that Anvils are currently suffering from a case of "being too popular in the last book".

I think you do a really good job with these, both as enjoyable videos (must be a looot of work...) and as a quick run through of the essentials. I would rewatch the ogor one if I was playing them, would love to see more of these. Cheers. (BUTBUT my [insert favorit unit] isn´t rated high enough!)
Honestly, while I agree that their battletome is way too bloated to be a great introduction army. I am still kind of happy I started playing AoS by buying dominion because I love the Lord Imperatant + Annihilator combo. Very solid and dependable, especially if you mostly play 1000 points.
I do still wonder how, if at all, they are going to handle the bloat issue next edition. It's like they looked at how thick the Marine codex is and decided that is the part that made them popular. Then again, at the very least with Marines you could basically cut the codex in half if you just remove all the firstborn stuff. The only way I could kind of see it work is if they make sure the chambers are VERY segregated and only really synergize with each other.
Yeah stormcast are great, its just everything costs just a bit too much

tempestors actually are really good
judicators with crossbows are mega underrated. They do more damage than longstrikes at any saves above 3 up and can count as GC retinue this season and can score battle tactics.

I do like all of the models in general, I have played SCE since 1.0 launched, but the aforementioned are my favorites

That wasn't just a throwaway line at the end about stuff becoming good. The average quality of their guys trends upwards and more balanced over time. For instance 2 weeks before this video came out sequitors were legit bad.
