Fans 2016: "The DC hero-verse is too dark, Marvel don't take themselves too seriously and their films are better for it"
DC: "Fuck, we need to add more comedy to our hero-verse. Quick! schedule another year of re-shoots"
Fans 2017: "I can't take these Marvel films seriously anymore, too much comedy"
DC: "Fuck"
hayabusa1x 😂😂
SO TRUE
hayabusa1x it's not about being funny it's about when to be funny. Not every 5 minutes. Understand???
Yes, I'm well aware that humour requires context and timing. My post was more to do with how DC are desperately trying to play catch up, and subsequently are mostly trailing behind. DC's always been good at taking their hero films seriously, and they're doing a damn fine job doing some serious story telling with some of their recent films (thinking of Mad Max and Blade Runner).
Nolan's Batman films were great because they took themselves TOO seriously, which fitted the theme. Warner Bros are good at dark/gritty story telling, which is why I wish they would focus on that tone for their super hero movies instead of trying rival Marvel's magic. Marvel are great with the lighthearted/funny stuff as far as movies go (kinda fits their style of comic books too if you ask me) which is why I loved Ragnarok more than any other Marvel film to date: it went full on space adventure comedy with imaginative sets, an interesting story (though it could've been executed better) and some cool action. They're doubling down on what they're good at. Wish DC would do the same instead of trying to appease MCU fans :/
LOL
Asgardians of the Galaxy
MegaSoulHero *The Revengers
Assgard
surprisingly, it was nothing like GOTG imo
Ass guardian of the Galaxy
it was alike imo
RIP MIEK
Ah nevermind he's alive
That shit was funny
Earth it is. 🙂
To be fair, you have to do some real work to make Cate Blanchett NOT look sexy.
Ikr, 48 years old and she still got it.
I saw the film early and my review is up now on my channel, it would mean a lot to me if you would check it out :)
Rohan Kishibe and 『Heaven's Door』
Lol, true. But in this movie, she looks INSANELY HOT!
Hela - one hell of a sexy hip-swaggering walk!
Cate's still hela sexy.
Pretty sure Thor tells people he thunderstruck it.
“He knows I liked snakes. So when I picked it up to check it out, he changed and he jumped out ‘Woah, it’s me,’ he stabbed me.”
NightBot Ban lol
We were 8
It was more like "BLEEEUUUGGGHH, IT'S ME!!"
Korg is my favourite marvel character now!!!
Aussie Zer0 *Korg
+Basement Dweller
*Porg
Best dude
He was amazing!! So funny! I saw the film early and my review is up now on my channel, it would mean a lot to me if you would check it out :)
The way you spell zero makes me think you meant Torgue (explooooooosions)
“And what are you the god of again?”
Jeremy: “Porn!”
You copied this comment from some1 else in this very same video lol. How clever.
Diego MV lol what? I didn’t even see that comment
I would never copy a comment I’m not desperate so idk what he’s talking about.
THE KING IS BACK
Jeramys review of 'Thor:RockHard-A Porn Parody' will be out soon.
Thor Ragnarok it's not only one of my favorite movies I saw this year it is the best Thor movie
You could have switched the SAYING tho!
You have not seen that many movies tat year, I suppose.
1>3>2 in my opinion
@@antona.8659 he's seen all the marvel movies i bet lmao
It’s one of my favorite movies of all time, it’s a great superhero movie and it’s shot beautifully, great character arcs it’s very rewatchable
I really hope they tone down the comedy for Infinity War. Sure, levity is great from time to time. But Infinity War needs to be a serious, darker movie. There shouldn't be a happy ending to that movie.
Very much agree.
Why it has worked for this movie and it was about the end of Asgard yet they still made it successful and a comedy why not the same with Infinity War. you can still make things light out of a bad situation plus they will have Star Lord, Spiderman, and Tony Stark together their is no way you can avoid the comedic aspect at that point...haha
As I said, keep *some* levity, but it needs to be the most serious movie of the entire MCU. Everything has been building to this point. They've been teasing us with Thanos for years, it's time for a serious, heartbreaking payoff.
Baconator true I guess we will have to wait and see.
That we must, my friend. I can't wait.
I really hope Marvel could take out the comedy just a little I think is WAY TOO MUCH
thulk and Hor best duo in the mcu lol
Like in Man of Action's Avengers cartoon
Really love GEFF JOLDBLUM in this film
The guy who's been around hundreds or thousands of years fighting monsters and traveling to different planets over the universe is the least interesting in the Avengers?
Bruce falcon is the worst...
Bruce not the least interesting... just had the least interesting movies especially with Dark World.
Bruce Don't forget that his also a god.
andyfourtweny precisely the point. He is invincible, he does not have a kryptonite, that's why he is boring.
Bruce his movies were just really boring.... this movie was a lot more fun
The movie was good, _shocking_ .
Rohan Kishibe and 『Heaven's Door』 pun intended😄
it was shockingly average.
Rohan Kishibe and 『Heaven's Door』 fine. Not good. Like guard 2
Very fucking funny, Manga Man.
I don't get it! ( °^°)
I like how Thor tells both Banner and Hulk that they're his favourite
“Does he tell his friend he hammered it or nailed it?”
Jesus Christ take my money
Cate Blanchett is Hela hot!
I saw what you did there👌
FryedPidgey I see what you did there!
Billy Wintergreen lmao k
Billy Wintergreen wtf is wrong with you nobody asked about your opinion on darkskinned black girls
agreed.
Thor Ragnarok was amazing I really enjoyed it
i actually lliked it more than guardians

Korg was freaking funny in this movie. Loved his scenes!
TheLivingWeapon I liked the scene at the end with miek
That scene made me laugh the most, but in general everytime he opened his mouth I cracked. His voice was too funny for a big bulky stone dude. Taika Waititi did a great job voicing him
Yeah as a New Zealander myself, it was hilarious seeing an alien rock creature speaking like a cliche Maori kid. Not sure how that will play outside of NZ, but the audience I saw it with loved it. It's great that Marvel let Taika do the character that way considering how intentionally off-putting it is.
poida it's his opinion, let him be. Just because he has an opinion doesn't mean you have to spread yours like its a fact.
Korg was voiced by the director himself
What do you call Thor when he's drunk?
HAMMERED!
Nailed it ;)
That's what you call anyone that's drunk you dumbass
The first movie already made that joke.
Josh Navarro are you dumb or cant read
Drunk Thor
My favorite hero in the Marvel world, I was glad 1 and apparently 3 turned out well. I was not a fan of the second however. But again glad this was a fun click.
Best Thor movie, but not the best THOR movie?
Thor: Ragnarok 2017 >>> ow.ly/OImD30gk3bD
Thor's my favorite Marvel hero as well, and frankly I fucking hated this film. They could've just filmed someone pissing on Jack Kirby's grave and gotten the same result. If Kirby were alive, he would've punched the fuck out of Taika Watiti for making a joke out of a character that meant a lot to him.
JimmyDaKoik who did they make a joke out of?
JimmyDaKoik
Actually, I think Kirby would just be rolling around hysterically happy and stoned on a mountain of money like Scrooge McDuck in his vault.
Jeremy Jahns to play the riddler in the next batman movie?
Leo Morgan yes plz
Thor and Justice League! What a great month!
UnWantedNightMARES don't forget The Punisher.
Varinder Bhandal
After the mess called The Defenders and Iron Fist..........who is puni.....sha ?
Devocrank seven Defenders wasn't that bad. Not gonna say anything about Iron Fist, though.
joshua kusuma even Iron Fist wasn't that bad, was it the weakest of the Netflix MCU? Totally.
It does need improvement in A LOT of places but it's not "garbage" levels of bad, it can be saved the same way AoS was saved after they got to the halfway point of S1.
UnWantedNightMARES For me it's Justice League and Punisher
I get why the comedy is getting old in the MCU (GOTG 2 way overdid it to the point of it getting annoying) but I felt it really worked in this movie for the most part. I'd say 90% of the jokes landed perfectly/very well and 100% of the action was amazing. I loved this movie!
imaredhel Couldn't agree more. I didn't like GOTG 2 at all because its like it relied on the humor. This movie still had great action and characters and humor too. Happy Infinity War seems a bit darker though
It's a canonical parody, that jumps all of the sharks.
Never understood the hate for GotG2. Personally thought it was great. Humor is what makes GotG...GotG. Not saying it has to turn into Deadpool or anything, but I loved the humor.
Well...its about damn time
I saw the film early and my review is up now on my channel, it would mean a lot to me if you would check it out :)
I got that Ant-Man reference.
Oh my God, the hammer pulled you off?
no you see, off the ground
My favourite line.
😂😂😂😂
I swear if Black Panther turns out to be a comedy... (I'm hopeful it's not judging by the trailers, that's why it's my most anticipated marvel film rn)
It should have a very serious vibe and soulful with the Black community.
Accel That's what I'm praying for.
knowing the director is black gives me hope.
Boring character, Thor is better.
Elias Crooker Only in the comics. The MCU has ruined Thor, the savage thunder god that he was supposed to be.
Should've been uploaded on Thorsday?
Kenjong Mendez the movie released on Thorsday
Get out
Thork: Ragnagoose
SPOILERS:
I Felt that Odin's Death wasn't emotional but i liked the rest of the movie
Santo Sibi Anthony Hopkins said that Odin died when The Dark World came out. That's not a spoiler.
Starhunter but he wasn't actually dead then
Santo Sibi It wasn't emotional? Sure it was. At first I thought Odin was going senile but for him to pass away like that was classy. Chris and Tom sold that scene very well. Their chemistry was the heart of the movie. I guess you expected them to fall to their knees and yelled WHY?! Lol
I think it would've worked far better if he was killed by Fenris like in the actual story, rather than just fading away.
Odins death was rushed because of the reshoots
PLEASE REVIEW STUDIO GHIBLI MOVIES
That would be awesometacular!
andrew southward he’s not much of an anime fan
andrew southward we dont need another guy telling us miyazakis work is flawless and worth watching.
Nausicaa is one of my son and my favorite movies of all time
His taste is striclty mainstream hollywood.. why would you ask?
Honestly, the other Thor movies were super boring to me, so I'm really happy they're trying something else now
Arno goes Online even Chris Hemsworth didn’t really like the first two
The Vagabond really? Man he must be really relieved now then
Not only is this the best Whore movie but so far this is the best film in the MCU for me.
#WhoreandThulk
The first Was Really good
Thor 1 is actually boring but its better on more watches, loki steals the movie and asgard scenes are beautiful.
Dark world tho.... straight up worst in mcu. Just boring and even loki cant save that film
i have to say, it was awesometacular... my favorite MCU movie... The hulk was at his best, Thor was at his best, even Dr Strange was at his best for all 10 min of his screen time. i’m sure if you watch it again... you’ll see i’m correct
You are
Am I the only one who is getting a bit tired of the amount of comedy in Marvel movies now? I'm fine with comedy, but I also really miss the sincerity earlier superhero movies had.
Just speculation i dont think black panther will have much comedy
You're not the only one, I don't like marvel comedies, if I want to watch comedy, I prefer watching American Pie
Mainly one of the reasons why i stopped watching anything superhero related. They try to force comedy down your throat instead of telling a serious story.
Joshieboy Studios I am too dude, like because of it I never felt like Loki or Thor faced any major threat.
Also the first minute that whole humor was kinda cringey esp knowing that that guy is the one who brings Ragnarok wtf misplaced humor
In general, I'm not so sure. I mean, if you play Guardians completely straight it gets weird.
With this one it was especially egregious though. They're adapting a pretty dark comic arc that's literally illustrating the meaningless of the Asgardians existence. In hindsight the book actually reads like a slam on Marvel editorial, for always killing of and resurrecting characters for cheap "drama" effects.
But hey, wasn't it funny when Thor said the name of the new team was "revengers". You know, like Avengers but not really? 'Cause he couldn't think of a name? Hiyuck yuck yuck!
Completely agree with you. I was also let down a bit by the characters having no real depth, especially Hela. She could have been so much more!
Thats the thing about Marvel movies, they are fun and well done movies but the villains have never been very interesting. Thor: Ragnarok is no different
smiley17 I thought Adrian Toomes in Spider-Man Homecoming was up there with the best. Such a well fleshed out character.
Hisoka 女 Gotta be honest, reading your description made it sound a lot deeper, haha. I just didn't think her story felt that important in the context of the film. Maybe it was because the comedy overpowered the drama, but I just really felt she came across as a one-note villain. Glad you liked her, though!
Hisoka 女 lol no
She had daddy issues and a god complex and that's not depth. During the whole movie all she did was kill people and that's it.
They even had to give her character depth through exposition lol
I WANTED HER TO BRING CHAOS!! kill asgardians brutally!
IMO-
Best thing about the movie: It's by far the funniest MCU Movie.
Worst thing about the movie: It's by far the funniest MCU Movie.
Those tonal shifts are kinda jarring but when the 2 clash at the end it kind of made sense to me.
I didn't find the comedy out of place at all. Usually I agree with your reviews but this movie had me in stitches. I rate it as one of the best Marvel films yet.
Movie had you in stitches? Sounds like it was a comedy to me
People saying a comedic MCU film is a bad thing are really closed minded and hoping for more Winter Soldier, I too thought it was refreshing and hilarious.
Mass Acceleration a lot of people consider winter soldier the best MCU movie
The Winter Soldier is FAR from the best MCU movie!!! xD
mikeaprice09 looooooolll
Kinda gives a new meaning to 'hammer time' 😂
Vk Deen
That loki was funny ...
JEFFREY u'll need great 'vision' to watch it. It's going to be 'ze-mo'st amazing film to date. U'll have to 'sif't ur way through the adverts and 'klaw' ur way through crowds. Dont forget to inform your 'doctor strange' things are happening to your body with excitement. Looks amazing, that's the 'stark' truth. In the future I will be more 'loki' with my puns so not to incur your 'fury'. I'm glad we could get to the 'groot' of the problem before it 'rocket'ed out of control. This is just an 'Odin'ary conversation, there's no need to put too much 'thor't into it. But anyway once u've seen the film, your dad will be able to say "I've got a coul-son".
I really hope he says that in the movie.
The reason why Thor is more funny in this movie because he know spends more time with the avengers and on earth he now has a sense of humor. In the first two movies he was unsure and serious. He has spent more time being a human that he now is more light hearted, like humans.
The reason why these movies are comedy is because comedy is a formula that sells tickets. The casual movie goer who doesn't care about the MCU that much goes into these things not worrying about about lore or depth or themes. They just want to laugh and watch cgi for 2 hours.
I mean Blade Runner 2049 did awful in the box office, that should be evidence that the average movie goer doesn't care much about depth or art.
DirtyMilkMan this is so true and so sad because i absolutely loved 2049.
The MCU is not comedy dumbass.
Harry Symbiote15 mcu stands for meadicore comedy universe
DirtyMilkMan. Sad, but true.
@DirtyMilkMan, that's not evidence. Look at Kubo and the Two Strings. That's an animated movie that came out last year, which has story and depth. However, it did poorly in the box office. Want to know why? Because Lakia's marketing for the movie was terrible. There are other factors that determine whether a movie does well in the box office than the typical argument "OMG, people don't like depth, hurr durr!!"
Finally a review that is not overrating the movie way out of proportion. Good job Jeremy
Try Mr. Sunday's
Barry 234 everyone knows your a Snyder fanboy, you praise BVS like its gold. Your here to hate we all know that.
Also you can't blame people for liking the film lol, if they like it then no need to get so salty.
Alfz Vzx dc fan spotted
barry 234 dc fan spotted.
Marvel is starting to depend on comedy because their movies are a bit shallow these days. Make more like Iron Man 1 & Winter Soldier guys. Let guardians be guardians.
You must have a sorrow life. Chill out girl.
Tee F there's like 5 of these a year.... Not all of them have to be super serious. It's guys in costumes fighting, it's allowed to be fun sometimes.
Percy Castle u good?
Percy Castle why?
Yeah because iron man 2, 3 avengers 1 and 2, were serious
I disagree about the comedy, it killed for me and it was nice to see Thor actually have charisma instead of being a bland strong guy
Agreed
DC proved you can make a bland strong hero be interesting.
Reminder that a movie critics opinions are just opinions.
Goraka91 absolutely agree, I was just giving mine.
Hawkeyes movie comes out in may 2020 no lie
Thor 1 is still my fav Thor movie. At least I was able to take him seriously in that movie without having to eye roll at the forced humor
Devin Y the humour isnt really forced here, its legitimately funny i will admit. Especially that rock dude in his first few scenes
It isn't force wtf Hahaha it was amazing the humor.
Dizzy Blu he was great! That ‘Piss Off Ghost’ bit had me chuckling to myself through the whole movie.
Mr Nameless nope its way forced
*2013* Thor 2 is 3 dark 5 me and has little humor I h8 it
*2017* Thor 3 is 3 funny 5 me and has little dark moments I h8 it
At least Loki is still attracted 2 those mcu fangirls.......
I tried again to watch Thor: Ragnarok and again, I can't get through this slap stick comedy that wasn't funny but only annoying. WTF!? SMH.
Did he say thor is the least intressting avenger when theres a guy with just a bow and arrow?
My dad is A cück. Lol!
My dad is A cück I mean people make fun of hawk eye but if you think about it he is on the same team as a demi-god, a super soldier, a billionaire genius with a Super suit, a giant green man with Super strength and a bunch of other abilities, a person who can control people/levitate things, and The physical form of Jarvis’s which is AI. So if he is able to keep up with them makes him pretty interesting. Also the Thor movies aren’t really that good when it comes to avengers I like captin America movies, hulk movies, Iron man movies, and the actual avenger movie.
Hawkeye is great.
He's the coolest revenger at least
Least interesting Avenger with their own movie XD
People complain about everything these days
... jeez
Better call Paul Not loving the same repackaged thing being given to you over and over doesn't mean I'm whiney, it means I'm critical and make up opinions for myself. If you liked the movie then fine, but don't invalidate everyone else's opinions by saying, "Ah, you all complain too much! Just like anything you're given by Marvel."
@Jason paul Thor ragnarok absolutely shits on BvS. The Martha line alone disqualifies the whole movie from even being brought up in conversations about great movies. And that’s without even mentioning how completely rushed jumbled and absolutely dog shit plot😂
This movie was entertaining and enjoyable and even the credit scene was amazing 👌👌👍
I just had about a 20 minute debate about the hammer and nail. Best 20 minutes of my life.
Hela was bar non my favorite marvel villain! . She was straight up brutal in almost all her scenes!
Portrait Thor as a stand-up comedian and no-one bats an eye, show Superman as cynical and whole world is in chaos!
Baibhav Kumar Exactly. It's because most people are stupid & just want to laugh without thinking too much.
To compare Superman and Thor is wrong!
FuNot FuMe Thor is comedic at all in the comics.
Its because Thor being funny doesn't conflict with his character whatsoever. Thor is STILL Thor, he just cracks slightly more joke this time 'round. Superman being cynical completely clashes with what it means to be Superman and destroys his character.
@@Crunch_Buttsteak lmaoooooo imagine thinking you're smarter than someone for preferring the portrayal of Superman in MoS get your head out of your ass buddy

“Get up, you’re in my seat.”
Yes, and?
@@eliaswilliams971 it's horrendous and doesn't fit with the world and its character.
@@antona.8659 Thank you for sharing your opinion with me.
Marvel movies are lacking seriousness and emotion because they want to make everything comedic. Not exactly a good strategy. It's ok to have a few well timed jokes, but when everything is a joke it takes away from the drama....Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Spiderman lacked seriousness. Nothing could be taken seriously.
The intro was hilarious!!
2nd Favorite Marvel film under The Avengers. *keep in mind that doesn't mean 2nd BEST. It just means 2nd favorite. Really enjoyed the ever loving hell out of this movie.
Thulk and Hor! Haha gold!!
I think he is subconsciously shipping them. ;)
I’m not gonna lie. That little slip up made me interested to see this movie. That and Jeremy mentioned it’s an all out comedy like Guardians. I’m calling them Whore and Thulk from now on.
No no no, "Hor" and Thulk.
You're missing two letters there.
I'm glad someone at least acknowledged it's a little weird that it's a comedy about Ragnarok. Thor as a character is not a funny dude. That being said, I'll see it and always support trying something new. If it works.
Tosin Adekanye Fair enough... but I can point to countless times in movies, comics and animation where Thor has been funny. They step it up a gear for sure in Ragnarok, but remember Thor was a frog once....
"Life is beautiful" is a great comedy and it's about Holocaust and a child in a Nazi Death Camp! Comedy often works best in terrible situations. When it's armagedon what can you do but face it and laugh?
Tosin Adekanye ive seen it. The comedy works about 80% of the time. There was once or twice where i didnt fit imo.
Have you seen Hemsworth tho?
"Thor as a character is not a funny dude." Have you seen his representation in comics and cartoons?
Saw the movie yesterday here in Sweden and it was fine, way better then Thor 2, sure its a bit of a comedy but then again.. its Marvel. Ragnarök isnt about death and darkness, its a reset, a new beginning and I thought they did a good job showing this. And for anyone asking, it has two post-credits scenes :)
The movie was so sick! Easily a 9/10 for me!
Majin Kid buu Lol says the anime fan
This comes out on November Thord.
Anthony Cast 🤣
*”Another day, another Doug”*
sooooo another colorful Disney comedy with Marvel characters?
beats the shitty dark boredom of WB's DC movies
huh? Civil War, Doctor Strange, Homecoming, Age of Ultron, Winter Soldier dont look colorful dude
So no one gonna talk about hela just popped up out of nowhere?
*Spoilers for the beginning of the movie*
Yeah, the plot started way too quickly. They could've at least have Fenris kill Odin like in the actual story, maybe have a large fight ensue in Åsgard, resulting in Fenris being slain, Hel arriving, becoming furious that "her wolf" is dead, and THEN have her unleash her wrath over Åsgard, rather than Odin just fading into the wind and Hel taking the nearest portal to Norway right as it happened.
It would've been even cooler if Sköll and Hati were there to devour the sun and moon, but I do realise there's a limit to how accurate they're going to be.
I thought it was weird how odin was all good before they showed then just died out of no where like really he was just sitting talking then boom just dead no big fight like someone else said where he dies in battle he just turns to pixie dust then hes gone
they showed odin through out all thor movies that he was weak and sick... but you want him to combat... nah he waited that is children came to speak with him and he let himself be taken by death.
Dany Jolicoeur What are you talking about, Odin wasn't weak and sick in the first Thor film. The dude woke up, flew across Asgard in like 3 seconds and caught Thor and Loki before they fell. In Thor: 2 they implied he was weak but that film was complete dog shit. Thor 3 was basically a parody film.
cuz odin died and therefore she can return from her banishment
The action scenes are completely astonishing. Sometimes you almost stand up from your chair like watching one of your favorites sports live!
Jermey looks like Raider entering the arena in the thumbnail
Fun is the right word. it is funny throughout, but you do get to see Thor in action as if straight from the comics. It's the best Thor movie and the best Hulk we've seen. Banner's description of his relationship to the Hulk is probably the best it's been explained in an MCU movie and the images are tremendous. This might be the most Kirby-esque superhero film to date. Never a dull moment.
This is a really big-eyed fun spectacular and I'd say enjoy it because I think Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War are going to take us into more serious and darker territory.
Chris Valentine. I hope so.
1. What comics?? Point me to those comics, Chris. There is nothing in the comics that's anything like this horrendous joke of a movie. In comics Ragnarok is a scary LOTR event that has rain, snow and blood. Not this corny flat looking nonsense. In the comics Thor fights like a berserker and makes Hela, Loki's and Angrboda's daughter, run away from him in fear after Odin turns to giant and fights off Surtur at Vigrid Battlefield. Does that sound like what happened in this movie? 2. No, it isn't. It turned Hulk into a joke. 3. Stfu, stop bringing up the name of the King of Comics to validate your love for sh1tty MCU movies. Believe me, if Jack Kirby had a favorite superhero movie, it wouldn't be this one. It would be Man of Steel. That movie had a giant robot fighting Superman in the ocean, had shockwaves when super beings were fightings, and that whole sequence on Krypton is more Kirby than anything in the MCU ever was or will be.
Saw it n Friday. It was all around excellent movie. I was so surprised how much was actually in the movie. It was a welcome change from the other Thor movies while still leaving some of the brilliant parts in. This universe feels huge now. Going to exciting planets with interesting/weird new characters was exactly what our heroes needed to revitalize the story. With terrific visuals, exquisite character interaction, high stakes, deep belly laughs and a killer soundtrack, Thor Ragnarok is my favourite Marvel film and funniest film I've seen this year.
Give this man a cookie , he cannot be soooo right...marvel is pushing and squizing too much the comedy.
Maria Teresa Bettolli They’re saving it up for Infinity War!
Agreed. In Norse mythology the Ragnarok is like their version of Armageddon and Reincarnation I guess with the destruction of the Gods ( and I imagine civilization) and their subsequent reincarnation/ revival (I cannot recall the exact circumstances by which the Gods are reborn.) Nevertheless this seems to be a serious topic and hardly one for the level of frivolity seen in this film.
They put 80s comedy in there because the 80s was the best decade ever! :)
I never saw Hela like the trailer made her out to be, to be honest I felt bad for her she was born into death and blood not to mention oden lock her up for years with out trying to help her see things like him, let also just forget about the fact he erased all traces of her because she defended her self from the elite attackers which oden sent in his place and to add salt to injury the names of the fallen were never written or bodies buried with the originals soldierd. If they were they would noticed one was missing
Man, Jeremy. I had you all wrong. Now that I got to see you contrast with the Collider people and back as a lone rider again, your reviews are no-nonsense and grounded. I like it that you don't go full-on hyperbole mode as other youtubers tend to do. To the point without giving the movie away. Rad review, blood.
Ugh the Collider people hype up every marvel movie
yes. the most certainly do. they're not as eloquent and spoiler-free like our favorite homeboy here.
I felt like this was half-shit review honestly, he spends half the time complaining about this movie being a comedy, instead of judging the movie on its own. I'll gladly take any other reviewer
He did judge it on its own merits. The movie was filmed to occupy a spot in the comedy genre. Therefore, the movie was reviewed as such. The previous two movies were nowhere near the tone that this third installment has taken. For continuity sake, and for everything you've known about these characters thus far, the change in tone is too dramatic to ignore. That's where Jeremy is coming from. He made a very accurate statement that IM3 was that cliff where all things Marvel started jumping off towards a certain direction. IM3 was a huge shift, and its box office success green lit everything succeeding it to go all in on comedy to make the films fun. No other way to describe it.
+aydooknow oh, please. It is what Jeremy finds enjoyable to him which has absolutely no bearing on what you enjoy. His opinion is not tethered to what you consume. As an independent entity, you are free from anyone's influence to enjoy or dislike anything. The caveat is that you should not expect someone to fall in line with your sensibilities. [Ask] yourself: why does it bother you so much what someone else thinks, when you have decided that you are happy with what you think?
I like the fact that Jeremy didn’t simply slap “awesometacular” to this movie
Joe V Because this movie wasn't that good and felt like a parody of itself.
Who cares if he did? Would it have affected your life in ANY way if he did?
Allan Alberts, the fact that you trust people (especially fanboys on the internet) to be smart enough to deal with other people's different opinons, is something I honestly admire. You sir, are a better man than I am.
Theres so much comedy you dont give a fuck that asguard got destroyed....let it sink in.
BATBR0 Should we? Other than Thor 2 we didn't spend lots of time on Asgard so it's not like a big deal
surprisingly a good film, its what you'd expect from the MCU,good action, engaging story, a bad-ass soundtrack with some synthwave thrown in,plus a strong supporting role by the hulk and another marvel character that shows up
and DC's movie universe is a complete clusterfuck, keep on the treadmill DC you might just catch up,might
Jeremy, I love you, but this movie did nothing different than the other marvel movies lol. The only “standout” is guardians but even then it was just more humor not a different take
This dude gave Thor the dark world buy on Blu Ray and he give this one no alcohol required
Hela, well interpreted, was diminished by so much comedy (and not of the best quality).
WTF are you talking about? You're saying Hawkeye is more interesting than Thor?
Your Mum yes ? Something wrong with that little toddler.
Kevin Reynart butthurt kid spotted 👎
Hawkeyes pretty cool. This whole bandwagon thing is a bit lame.
This movie focused way too much on comedy. It was really tiresome having the flow constantly interrupted to pull of a comedy stunt.
Hella draws her power from Asgard ? So where does THOR n Loki draw power from ??? And afterwards they say Asgard ain’t a place it’s a people ? Then where the fudge do they draw power from
Shinkeishitsuna you can call me a fanboy if you idc I still went to watch Thor ragnarok cause I like Thor but that concept didn’t make sense to me at all
from the people, that's why they saved them, for slowly draining their souls
Explained in the movie. Thor draws power from Asgard too - she just gets more of it.
Trispar why does she get more of it ? Thor is a child of Odin too ??? Dafaq
Fr6nCaba idk which movie u watched
One of the more serious Marvel characters, turned into a comedian, great. And i heard they gave the basic plot for Planet Hulk to Thor, now you say the villain that runs the planet was lackluster? goddamn, i'll stick to Thor from Avengers: EMH, best portrayal of Thor outside the comics.
Finally, a review that describes my feelings of this film.
I did have fun, laughed sometimes, but this comedic mode of Thor just not my taste.
I prefer first Thor.
I found it ironic, thor the god of thunder flee his homeland and let it be crushed along hela, while his 3 friends heroically died defending it even as they dont stand a chance,
But people find this film amusing as hell
I think it makes sense that he fled.
Thor is a bit of a narcissist, and Hela bruised his ego something that no one before her has ever really done, which challenges everything that Thor believes about himself, which makes him lose his confidence.
At least in the other movies he had a fighting chance or he could blame it on the loss of his powers, but Hela humbles him.
She beats him at his best and as a woman on top of that, which considering the Asgardian, viking-like, hyper-masculine culture that was probably equally as humiliating to Thor.
The destruction of his hammer might as well have been the destruction of his masculinity, and when he flees and easily gets trapped as a slave to fight as a gladiator that reinforces his emasculation.
It's almost like a Greek epic. Thor after being defeated and emasculated goes on this journey to essentially find his manhood again.
This movie in my opinion wasn't about Hela destroying Asgard or Thor protecting it; it was about Thor finding out how to be a man or more accurately a god without his strength.
His worth doesn't come from his hammer, or his muscles, or the people that worship or praise him it comes from his belief in himself which he discovers in his fight with the Hulk.
The comedy in this movie was meant in my opinion to be used as a tool for emasculation, since a lot of the funny moments came from the juxtaposition of Thor's inflated god-like ego with the lack of a shit that people give about Thor in his new environment.
It's meant to humble him and to challenge him to redefine who he is. His brute strength and god status doesn't mean shit to these people nor does the environment itself care.
I think a brilliant scene that shows this is when Thor tries to break the window with a ball in order to escape, and instead of breaking the window the ball bounces back and hits him in the face.
This could easily be written off as an attempt at a cheap laugh, but when you think about it as a god who is regarded highly for his strength to not be able to break a simple window is extremely emasculating.
He is used to having control of his environment, Thor is used to being praised and adored, he used to being strong and taken seriously so it's brilliant that not only is he dumped into an environment that is set out to emasculate him and disrespect him, but he is also dumped into a foreign genre that doesn't respect him or doesn't give a shit about what his muscles or status has to offer, which is comedy.
If you look at this movie as a simple revenge tale then yeah, the tonal inconsistencies take away from the film, but if you view this story as one about Thor trying to gain his manhood back then I think the tonal shift is both deliberate and brilliant.
It's a comedy. period.
ragnarok is supposed to be serious not comedic i think the comedie in marvel movies is a little too much now they need to tone it down a little
SPOILERS:
Loki in this film was confusing...
Is he good or bad?
-1 point for impersonating Odin
+1 for loving Odin
-1 for not helping Thor on the Trash Planet
-1 for betraying Thor's escape
+1 for coming to save Thor anyway?
-1 For stealing the Tesseract maybe?
+1 For helping start Ragnarok! (Therefore fulfilling his duty)
Is he good or bad?!?!
That's what i don't like about the direction the MCU is going into... I prefer the action movie with comedic moments... but it seems like all these movies are turning more into comedies
But most Marvel movies as of late have been action movies with comedic elements.
Michael bay movies are funnier
SpiritWolf2K exactly.....its really taking what could be an epic movie and not giving it a chance by forcing comedy throughout....even if its the best comedy to date its a letdown....sucks
I'm glad Thor is getting some love, but I'm glad you're saying something about that tonal shift. I don't want a Thor comedy movie...just doesn't sound right when you have Hela as a villian and the plot of of Ragnarok.
Am I crazy?
This movie was friggin fantastic, and the drama and gravity was finally taken seriously as well as being more funny.
I wasn't really excited for this movie until I saw Hunt for the Wilderpeople. I can't wait to see Taika Watiti do his thing in this movie!
Kevin Reynart
Except it doesn't. But okay..
YO HUNT IS GREAT
lf you want to see Thor: Ragnarok 2OI7 fuII movie plus.google.com/+AzahraViona/posts/5YQmDc2uvyx
Kevin Reynart But it won’t be MCU humor, it’ll be Watiti humor
i don't think it had too much comedy, the movie let the serious moment be serious, unlike GotG 2 which undercut every emotional scene. i do think that some of the character development depened too much on dialogue and came off as expo dumps
THE BEST THOR MOVIE EVER!!!!
I knew this would fucking happen. So basically it's just a film about THOR w/ a dish of Hulk and an all-star cast of other characters as eye candy and nothing else matters? Nothing is taken serious after Asguard is literally destroyed? hmm so i'll recap this. No stakes, the tone isn't serious enough to make you feel like its authentic and Hela gets wasted? sounds like some typical Marvel shit. Sad thing is of all the characters they could've did this too..they did it to THOR.
So is just a stand up comedy
Ok I get that everyone is very enamored by Thor Ragnarok and erupting with praise, but there are things that Marveldom assembled still continuously fails to address which baffles the mind considering that fans take these movies apart inch by inch and devour them without even chewing…
First and foremost we must concentrate on the Hulk since he is my ULTIMATE fav character and always has been.
So why upon being reunited with the Hulk is Thor not puzzled that he is actually speaking now? Has Thor (or any of the other Avengers) ever heard him talk before?
All Thor is concerned with is why the Hulk wants to fight him, and we never really find that out either (other that fans want to see them in a battle royale, which is a lame excuse without a cause.)
Next why does the Hulk look like he is about to crush Thor into pulp at the end of the fight (supposedly to kill him just like “Doug” and countless others.) And Thor weakly puts his hand up to do….what exactly? Stop a thousand plus pound Hulk from pummeling him into oblivion? Really??? We never find out what happens because in the next scene Thor is looking good as new with hardly a scratch on him. From such an intense fight I expected more.
And why above all else did Grandmaster need to cheat? Did he not have faith in the Hulk’s abilities to win on his own? The Hulk happens to be the strongest one there is! Gets me wondering if he did this for all the Hulk’s conquests just to ensure that his champion would keep consistently winning? But the Hulk needs no help in that area! It’s making the Hulk appear weak and in need of the Grandmaster’s assistance.
Speaking of which the Hulk shows no overall impressive feats of strength in this movie of which he is capable. Hopefully Infinity War will rectify this horrendous misuse of the character and pit him toe to toe against Thanos. He may not win but he can stay in the game longer than any other Marvel superhero could ever hope to! And you don’t have a whole scene admitting that he’s the strongest Avenger and then don’t even give him props to prove it in the movie.
And the Hulk finally got to talk (why oh why has it taken so long???), but where are all his famous comic book catch phrases like: “Hulk will SMASH!”, “Hulk is the STRONGEST one there is!!”, and “The madder Hulk gets, the STRONGER he gets!!!” These were said countless times in the comics yet they appear nowhere in the film. And although this is the closest the Hulk has gotten to his comic book counterpart, this still isn’t the complete Hulk I’m longing to see. And at this rate I don’t know if I ever will.
But my biggest gripe has got to be this: Banner’s hair! Jeez, is it me or is Bruce Banner is looking more and MORE like Mark Ruffalo all the time?? Whatsa matter Mark, are they not paying you enough to dye your hair and shave your face to properly portray a Marvel character? You know you wouldn't look half bad if you did that!
Joss Whedon’s Banner was closer to the comics except for the fact that Bruce has BROWN hair! Mark Ruffalo loves his salt and pepper look in his everyday life and voila…. now we get to see MARK RUFFALO in Ragnarok! And we get no explanation on why Mark (I mean Banner’s) hair has gotten so gray for this movie. Isn’t there like supposed to be like….similarities…. between the Hulk and Banner? If we saw the Hulk with gray hair he would be laughable. Unless of course it was the Gray Hulk, which it seems many fans would love to see anyway. Well Marvelites, I think now you’ve finally got him!
So I know there’s those out there who will say “I’m too uptight” or “It doesn’t have to be like it was in the books” and all I have to say to that is… well there’s two of my tallest fingers who would like to do the talking for me ;) Thanks for reading. Please leave your thoughts and comments.
vicctornight uptight
Ragnorak is supposed to be a dark event not a shitty joke fest
''The Marvel movies have way too much comedy'' Well if they are done right then why are you complaining?
Johnny1248 except in this movie it wasn't done right
@@UnifiedEntity i respectfully disagree.
outside from the moment Korg decides to make a joke after Asgard was destroyed, i thought the humor landed for the most part and it's because of Taika Waititi's unique approach to humor which is more ironic and off kilter and i thought it worked in the film.
"Thor: Ragnarok is Hella funny" --- Jeremy Jahns
Logan is still the best marvel movie and character
Made by Fox
anshik gupta
Abso - fucking - lutely
LOGAN, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man, X-Men: DOFP, & Captain America: The Winter Soldier..are | Marvel At It's Best |
well logan is fox
Nick Sketch don't include movies like spider man with logan logan is way better
'Spider-Man 2 is a fantastic masterpiece' - Couldn't have said it better myself
'Hey, you forgot to include Iron Man' - Although it's an awesome film...I had issues with the villain, and the 3rd act. Reasons like those make me like it less than films like The Winter Soldier, or Spider-Man 2. Aaand LOGAN goes without saying...
