  • Today tells all! Aldi, Woolworths and Coles go head to head in a price comparison video!
All totals are based on a "one stop shop" concept. They have been calculated based on the items I would personally pick off the shelves if I had taken my list to each store and done our weekly food shop.

No part of this video is sponsored. Prices mentioned may vary from the time of filming and not necessarily always correct. This content is for entertainment purposes only.
All prices you see in this comparison were collected at the time of filming this video. Prices change frequently due to the supermarkets promotional schedule. Some days you can get an absolute bargain, some days you are paying top dollar. The totals were calculated using the figures shown on screen during the video at the cost they were at the time (sale items were added at their sale price, not full price).
I always go for the most cost effective option and not afraid of going for the home brand items, in some instances I have tried the home brand items in the past but didn't like (as per the dish washing liquid mentioned) and no longer purchase, therefore have added the cost of the item I would purchase to the totals today.
Items have been chosen on a like for like basis - down to ingredient's, protein content or organic goods and have been matched comparably.

I go to all 3 Aldi, Coles and Woolworths and get what ever is the best deal at each. It's cheaper than shopping at just one. Fruit and veg is cheaper at local fruit and vegetable shop than any of the supermarkets

    I love Aldi!
I know they don’t have everything but still makes a massive difference on how much you save.
The prices you ended up with also included quite a few ‘special’ prices from Coles & Woolies whereas ALDIs prices only really fluctuate and go on special with the fruit & veg and everything else you know is pretty much going to stay the same price week to week.
If those items that were on special had not been it would’ve made both totals even higher.
I used to do the majority of my shopping based on the specials at both Coles and Woolies and I was still spending more than at Aldi 😆

Yeah! Absolutely Aldi is always consistent and just makes it so much easier, a great one stop shop! I love going to the farmers market to support local but at the same time if we happen to have plans at the same time the market is on it makes it tricky! Aldi has amazing finds too! They really are Good different 🙌🏻😂💃🏻

Great video! It should be emailed to every household in Australia. Coles and Woolworths are a rip off. They play marketing games with their prices while Aldi just generally sticks to cheaper prices all the time. Quality is if anything better at Aldi too.

Someone reacted to your video and I had to come and ‘like’ your original, you put in so much work! Sadly there isn’t an Aldi within a hundred kms of me, but since Covid we have been bulk buying a few of our most used staples online for home delivery. Makes the weekly Coles shop a bit easier and cheaper.

I love shopping at Aldi too! I didn't know there were Aldi locations in other countries too :) They seemed to have the best prices overall compared to the other stores. I was so surprised that avocados only cost .99 cents! The prices of bacon and meat were great here too. It's so expensive everywhere else! I wonder why the sweet potatoes were so expensive at Aldi compared to the other stores, haha! Ooo, I will have to go pick up some shampoo, soap, and shower gel at Aldi now! The prices there are great. Interesting that the chip prices were about the same overall :)

Woolies & Coles actually do have in store bakery and make their own melting moments however when you are online shopping they won't always show you homebrand / on site products which can be very frustrating for online shoppers! There would only be a few dollars savings on some products for the totals but still the overall results won't change.

Very good video, but coles flybuys and Woolworths everyday rewards card are very good. coles also give free glassware or kitchenware every quarter for shopping frequently. there are lot more varieties in coles and Woolworths. more asian, indian Mexican and other cuisine items available. also you can self pay! you get at least $500-800 worth flybuys or quantas/rewards points every year if you buy for this much in coles or Woolworths. also do not forget 4c fuel discount at coles express and carltex stores.
I feel vegetables and fruits are cheaper in aldi. That reduced a lot from your bill. Also $11 was reduced just from that steak and $9 for that streaky bacon and $5 for water tank. You bought 3 so $15 extra. $8 extra for dove. Normally dove always comes for half price in Woolworths and coles at $7.50. its too dumb to pay $15 for Dove. which in total is $42 increase in coles and Woolworths bill. chicken breast has a bit more fat in it than coles/woolworths and its same price in aldi. butter same price. $2 added for that biscuit due to packet price which is double in quantity. There is home brand for pringles in Woolworths/coles and also that same price as in aldi. $4 added there into your bill. $5 added into Woolworths for organic eggs but they are 700g instead of 600g which you bought. you get organic paster raised egg for $9 in Woolworths, why get just organic for $11? you get free range for $5 which is same as in aldi.
i think $50-60 is bit too high for a normal person's shopping. if you exclude a bit of items you bought and do a bit more smart shopping choices i think I can reduce the bill difference to less than $5. which can be even reduced to 0 with flybuys or everyday rewards.
    My recommendations.
    1. buy affordable beef. like bolar blade or topside or chunk. its same price in aldi as well.
    2. buy extra lean(95%) or lean(90%) beef mince. its not available in aldi. only regular available(83% lean) and its same price in Woolworths and coles.
    3. buy different cuts of becon. there are cheaper cuts of becon/pork starting at $8.75 a kilo.
    4. don't buy water tank. buy water bottles which are same price or else carry water from home in a container. why tank??
    5. buy shampoo when there is half price.
6.buy home brand for chips. i think it was a comparison mistake in your video.
    7. Don't buy all the vegetables in the store. try buying carrots, spinach, apple, oranges, cucumber, pineapple, pumpkin, onion, its pretty similar price in coles and Woolworths.
    8. there are fruits not available in Aldi like kiwi, dragon fruit, nectarines, plum, raspberry, grape etc.
    9. you didnt buy any staples like rice, wraps, bread, pasta, noodles, ginger garlic, spices, oil, lentils. staples are same price everywhere.
my suggestions to buy from aldi are
    1. nuts
    2. chocolates.
    3. dutch pan and other high quality utensils.(not sure if they still sell them)
    4. fruits and vegetables. specially banana and tomato. Aldi keeps banana right at the front to make everyone feel that aldi is cheaper.
being a person who has bought for all the stores, i feel like i wouldn't recommend Aldi.
if you are a smart buyer then coles and Woolworths would be cheaper in the long run for a minimum time frame of 1 year. buy during half price, stack up and use flybuys points and reward points which can be converted to quantas points.
    all the best.

I have found Aldi from my recent event hosting experience for my birthday to be the best place to get items for the cheese platter. Their biscuits/rice crackers, cheeses, and dips are of great value and taste. 😀I shopped around Woolworths and Coles when I was planning event, because they used to have good specials on cheeses, but now there are hardly any. So I had to go back to Aldi and pick up a couple of them. Other things we buy are brioche burger buns, quick rice (90sec) in packets when doing a stir fry, sliced cheese, and protein bread (that's amazing and has lots of fiber).😄 I only shop for truss tomatoes, because if tomato has no smell - means that it's lacking the taste 😋

not anymore a lot of average food, it's more expensive now and their's very low variety with their packaged dinners. Hope Tescos comes to our town, Dunnes Stores are crap and too expensive. Lidl is just a more expensive version of Aldi and Super Valu are way to expensive.

Hey Jasmine, thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment! I really appreciate the support ☺️. Great question! I soo miss the wonder pure tasting water from New Zealand right from the tap. Unfortunately the water passing through our tap here isn’t pleasant to drink.
Here’s a snip from an article I found:
‘Queensland government admits that tap water in the state can be “discoloured” due to the presence of iron and manganese, contaminated by corroded service pipes, and sometimes have “an unusual taste or smell”.’ If you are interested to read more heres the link to the full article: goldcoastplumbingexperts.com.au/plumbing-tips/gold-coast-tap-water/

*How could you not show us the red meat 😢.* p.s. “organic eggs” means nothing. The healthiest eggs are “pasture raised eggs” these are chickens which have been fed an appropriate diet and not soy/corn feeds. It’s hard to determine which actually do it, but the more orange the yolks is and the harder the shell/yolk are to break are a good way to tell.

@@zeishasjourney I would recommend trying “raw milk” from Coles too. It’s not pasteurised with heat (which destroys all the beneficial enzymes and vitamins) but with water instead so it retains all the benefits. Thank you so much for this recommendation I am definitely going to try it out. We try to go to the organic market and butcher when we can to keep the toxins down and I do notice a difference on the weeks we do eat mostly organic. This is a poor excuse but it is so much easier just doing a one stop shop at a supermarket when under a time crunch during a stressful week so we don't sources this better food often 🙈. My "when I grow up" dream is to have land and a vegetable patch of our own to enjoy. It's worrisome we don't have the some connection with food like we used to and all the added ingredients.

Yes, aldi is cheaper and have LIVE people on their checkouts to serve you .
The old fashioned way, unlike coles and woolies who shuffle you onto their automated card machines. It seems funny that aldi can still make good profit and have cheaper prices and still have people serving on the checkout.

The water is definitely amazing here in Australia but the pipes it travels through to get to our houses are not so good. That's your problem right there, you're trying to shop for healthy fresh foods. You need to go for the cheap processed mass produced foods which are generally taxed lower, you're a bad shopper to Coles and Woolworths, they want you to stay in aisles 3 to 10 which contain these processed foods.
