So I did the test. After 10 minutes I got bored and decided to push the hair 1cm down the jar. It started sinking, took about 1 minute to reach the bottom. Imagine my surprise when I came back 5 minutes later to find it floating on top again XD. Guess I'm low porosity.

I took out three strands one was high one was low and one was medium😅
I started using eco style gel and my hair started to be more moist for way longer than expected

As a woman who's been natural off and on since 1990, I knew this test and know a lot about my hair. BUT, it's great to have the info come out of YOUR mouth. It's coming from someone my teen son can relate to! His 4C hair doesn't curl like yours but that's OK.

Washed and conditioned my hair.... pulled a strand... As soon as my hair hit the water, curled up HARD HARD ... it was pretty straight until it hit the water. I’m literally looking at it right now and just watching my hair continue to curl... ok..... so now it’s just a ball. I’m working to grow my hair out and dryness has always been an issue, so learning what moisturizers and sealants to use helps.. my edges started thinning from simply not protecting my hair, so I’m curious to see how this growth journey goes.

Yea you gotta experiment with the balance between too little gel and too much. It’s normally a hard line to walk

I don't get what you mean by hair not getting wet. My hair gets wet of course it does I'd say for 1 minute it may not get wet. But by 2 minutes if it's completely soaked of course it is wet but my hair floated

If you want your hair to be lighter you have to bleach it (lift it) first you cannot dye your hair a lighter color you can only dye it a darker color I am a licensed cosmetologist not throwing Shade just trying to provide some helpful information

if it didnt sink, thats an indicator of low porosity

ImCJay When you do a braidout/twist out wear a satin bonnet to sleep at night to maintain the curls. In the morning, use a tiny amount of leave in, rub it through, then pick the roots & fluff but don’t mess up curls.

Wasn't this test proven to be a hoax? because the density of your hair can affect the weight. Also, whenever i tried this, my hair strand would ALSO float, but my hair absorbs water instantly when i run it under the shower head. What i have noticed, is that for low porosity people, their hair takes time to get wet and even if they run their head under the shower, they get water beads. For me it's different, but for some reason this test shows im low porosity, like what?

If it's floated after a good amount of minutes/times, then you automatically have low porosity.

It should take about 1 hour if you go section by section. It’s best to trim hair when it’s blown out or straightened to get an even trim💯 I hope that helps👍🏾
