Gus G. is so damn talented. He is so clean, and just makes everything look perfect and easy. MAD SKILLS!!!!! Some people say he plays with no feeling, almost like a robot. I say he is just unique and clean, and simply amazing. ROCK ON GUS G!!!!
Big fan of Gus G Listen to his solo playing Paul Gilbert is good but Gus can rip that melody so sweet: awesome
Well we are from the same town with gus g lol. What I can add to you is that besides his clean playing I can hear a lot of traditional phrasing either on his fast runs or his melodies, that stem from our country and eastern refferences. Does this set him apart just for that? Of course not, but in his case, it's not something he learned just from a cd or a couple of songs when he was younger but from withing. Phil X has this too albeit in his own way and expression.
Another thing I admire about gus g is his insane and tight rythm playing, it's definitely METAL. Vicious, aggresive, not holding out, he wears his influences VERY proud and I love that. He loves dimebag, metallica, iommi, hard rock, you name it. You can hear a lot of that in his playing. No feeling? Somebody is either jealous or has no clue...
I can see why people say that he plays with no feeling. His tone is a bit flat and uninspired. He's good, but I can pass...
His tone is just fine live to be honest.
People say this because some people can't get feeling from fast playing. If someone slows down the speed to 0.75 they will get that "feeling". He is just beyond that :)

His playing looks so effortless and sounds so brutal, truly the sign of one of the greatest guitarists to walk the earth!

Why does it look like he's playing through an early TVP prototype?
You can see @ 3:47 that there is no cable plugged into the TVP.

+Ryan Bobadilla Thanks, There are usually a cheaper model equivalent somewhere . Like Epiphone, or Squire. Mexico, Chinese, or Korean type equivalent's. I just assumed the guitar Gus was playing in the video was American, or Japanese ESP. I have 2 Japanese ESP's they are in the 2k price range. The USA ESP's are more along the lines of 4-5k+. Insane over priced guitars. I have yet to play a real USA ESP. I wish!!!! Maybe I'll sell both my Japanese ESP's(FRX E-II, and LTD Elite ST1) and finance a USA ESP. :)
