We finally got our hands on a 2017 Sierra Denali Ultimate, and boy does it look good! The 2017 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate looks better than ever before with its new LED projector headlamps and LED fogs to match it increases light output by over 20%. Denali's signature grill has been redesigned to flow with the rest of its facelift, and magnetic ride control has been added to the line for the first time ever. I bought this truck (2018 red quartz with the 6.2L) for myself in 2018. I worked my ass off for this truck and I love it. It’s 2022 and I still own it with 36,000 miles. Best truck purchase I’ve done.

I have this exact truck. 2018 though. When these model sierras came out I was in love. When I used to see one I would think of me inside one .

best looking half ton on the market, not to mention the interior is easily class leading with more soft touch points and leather than ford or ram. and to top it off real aluminium, magnetic ride, and better sound isolation. easy win.

Excellent review. Very thorough and appreciated. My disappointment is only with GM. I drive a 14 denny and notice almost no differences. It's a nice truck that's given me very few problems but its 6.2 isn't the same as the one in my Camaro, first of all, and others have made more progress since then. It was GM's engineers that helped Ford develop their new 10-speed, and Dodge has had an 8 speed for a couple years now. Where's some of that tech? Massage seats, tailgate and box accessories, more cameras, efficiency and HP? This is a company that got bailout money! Where's the R&D? Anyone looking for the latest tech, for the money the big 3 are charging these days, probably won't find it here. Just my 2 cents.
Appreciate the feedback Rosco, I would also love to see some of the newest tech added into the Denali. I have to assume that GM likes to wait and let the other companies deal with the bugs and issues when it comes to releasing new tech in their vehicles. This gives GM the ability to analyze the competition and then add the new tech without having to worry about problems as much. Of course this is just my opinion, but I do hope to see some more tech added in the future. I also would love to see a real competitor to Fords Raptor.

totally agree. there are certain features that should come standard. i.e. push start, express passenger window, rear heated seats, etc. Plus, why isn't there ac/heat vents in the rear? Ford has a better equipped rear.
No Power telescoping wheel and no Rear DVD Entertainment system for Back… I just got this truck and don’t have those features… I wonder how much those features were to be added from the dealer back then?

Great video. I'm doing my research now so I can buy myself a luxury truck for Xmas. It's down to a loaded Denali or a loaded F150 Limited. Presently, all my cars are German. I've never owned a truck before, so I'm not a Ford or Chevy man. All the Ford guys will say buy Ford, and the same goes for all the Chevy/GMC guys. It has been an interesting journey learning about these trucks, but I still haven't decided.
Waiting for the Duramax model.
Probably won't ever see a Duramax in a 1500, but I'm sure they will bring the Ultimate trim to the Denali HD in the near future.

I have also noticed that the cameras around the car are a horrible quality. I mean, $60k and it's a 240p camera, no telescopic wheel, no push button start, horrible in-car buttons for windows, locks, and lights. Also, there is no auto unlock when you put your hand behind the handle. My buddies 2012 Jeep GC does that..... come on GM

That's a damn nice truck. I love the new blue illuminated gauges and buttons. But a few things. I prefer Onyx Black exterior, Jet Black interior, 6' 6" standard bed. And the engine? i don't like the Gen V Ecotecs. I like the Gen IV Vortecs. Alls I gotta do is an engine swap.

***** That would be nice, though it wouldn't be called an LT4, since it would be changed to be a truck engine. I personally think the Vortecs got a great sound and are very reliable. Besides, I'd be satisfied with about 1000 HP at the flywheel. If you want, check my channel, I got a few exhaust clip videos of my 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali with a Vortec 6200. Eventually, I'm gonna get a 2011-2014 Denali HD Z71 then put a Vortec 6200 in it.
I have an 07 Hyundai Azera Limited. It has Power telescoping wheel and rear a/c. I wish it had push button start and navigation/backup camera but it's an 07. Also it only cost $35k new not $70k like this truck.

How do you make the lights flash?
If you're referring to the LED day runners, that is just how the camera records the lights. LED's flicker at a super high rate of speed that the human eye doesn't pick up.....my camera however picks it up. You'll notice it on many video's where LED headlights or taillights are visible.
Ugly sliding rear window needs to be an option.Looks terrible from the outside.

Good thing they kept it key like a real Chevrolet truck . We can do without the push button shit all across the board with GM trucks. Just seems very lady like to have push button start .

Tailgate looks like a work truck tailgate no chrome on tailgate handle and still no A/C outlet to the back abd in needed when you have kids facing the rear so not famaly truck!!!

The new trucks out perform the old ones in every way possible, and if its an offroad warrior you're looking for you don't need to go Denali. Scoop up an SLE and lift it up, throw some 35's or 37's under her and call it a day!
I've heard people having nothing but trouble with the 8-speed auto.. Which is why I don't want to buy a Denali because you don't get the choice of a 6 speed
Heartagram mine has an 8 speed and I've ran into 0 issues already have 11,000 miles on my gmc along with hauling a 30 foot toy hauler, ran and towed fine
I hace the Silverado 2016 and it has the same engine and same transmission and it has zero issues.
