- Can Christians smoke weed or pot? Perhaps the better question is "Can Christians get high?" since that’s the whole point of smoking weed other than perhaps for medical reasons. I don’t think homeboy here is telling us to do anything, it’s just a reminder. I think he’s just pointing out that it CAN lead to having lower expectations for yourself. It did for me, and some of my buddies who are now sober. But I’m sure there are men out there that it doesn’t affect so much. I think he’s just bringing up the point that it isn’t a no you can’t, or a yes you can. It’s more like be vigilant. And that’s all we can ask of anyone.

Also exactly what does he mean by low expectations? Doesn't the scriptures say that with food shelter and clothing his people will be content? If you have those things and aren't content with them then there is a problem with your relationship with God it's wrong to be lazy but it is EQUALLY wrong to be obsessed with worldly achievements.
I smoke a bit of ganja at the end of the day. Not enough to become paralytic, just enough to elevate my mental faculties. I feel myself grow closer to the Holy Spirit when doing so and find myself in a continual and unceasing spirit of rejoice for The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.
I guess it's also medical, since suffering from many concussions due to my love of contact sports, as well as the nature of the job I was employed in a few years back ... I found Marijuana a better option than the drowsy drugs prescribed by the doctors. I use it to help myself fall asleep.
I feel God will take it away from me in his time, when he deems it no longer serves me.
However, because of Titus 3:1 I know its wrong to smoke, because unfortunately it is still illegal to smoke Marijuana in my country for recreational use, and is only given medicinally to those who suffer from terminal diseases.

Worth noting that getting stoned does not cause a loss of control in the same way as alcohol does, alcohol works by shutting down your higher mental faculties and causes a more 'true' impairment.

This guy makes a point. I am a minister that happens to use cannabis for pain relief. I think its just like most anything else. Use in moderation. I choose to control my intractable pain with marijuana instead of opioids. I'm pretty sure that the Good Lord is alright with it. Great subject to speak on though!
As a Christian I've wrestled with this. I enjoy cannabis. I only use it at the end of the day to unwind and help me fall asleep. I work 2 jobs, have a son and live on my own, I'm far from lazy. If someone is a "lazy stoner" it's not because of weed, it's because they are inherently lazy. If you are lazy cannabis will make that worse. I also feel that if you are very ambitious cannabis isn't gonna slow you down either. At the end of the day the act of smoking weed alone won't send you to hell. I know plenty of good Christians who are also addicted to food. Ultimately I think intention needs to be considered. If you smoke to avoid your problems or detach from reality, probably not a good idea.
I am in intolerable pain until I smoke then I work like a machine all day.I work farm work with illegal imagrants.we work super hard all day not just 8 hours all day!!! The Lord provided me an herb to heal my pain and keep me going.
I'm so glad I quit Marijuana. Destroyed my life and almost destroyed my marriage. God gave me the strength to quit. I'm 4 years clean and ive never felt more alive.
I would wake up and have a joint ready. Smoke up eat smoke up bathroo. Smoke up. Basically i lived perpetually high. When i got fired for being high at work i didnt care. My wife was working and we werent struggling on her pay. But i wasnt being a good father. Id plop my son infront of the tv ans play video games all day. My wife kicked me out and i spent 6 months homeless. Still managed to get weed. My mom let me live in uer RV and i couldnt stop thinking about my family. After 2 more months of smoking i decided it waa enough. I spent a year getting back into shape. My das took me on as an apprentice my wife saw my changes and as of 2 weeks ago im finaly a journeymen electrician. I should mention that my wife never once stopped talking to me. Encouraging me to be a better man ans to go to God for strength. I went to church and asked God the father to take my life into his hands. I gave myseld to him and since then my life has gotten exponentially better.

Im a Christian and i do smoke weed, but i honestly dont think im supposed to be smoking weed. There is no excuse for me except my lord and savior who went to the Cross . I know im not perfect and im a sinner and i thank God for his wonderful grace because i know i dont diserve the kingdom of heaven but by his Grace through Jesus Christ who God raised from the dead. I am constantly making changes and growing as a Chistian and as i repent of my sins i know i will eventully walk away from smoking weed too. But as i grow older i grow wiser and i grow in Christ. Research IS important. FYI... the strains that have Kush in their name originate in the Kush region of the Sudan, along the Nile river. That's why "getting high" wasn't an issue. It was considered an aid for meditation and brought you closer to God.

When I was smoking weed one night with this chick I was "seeing" God told me to cut the horseplay, and I felt this cold chill run through me. I stopped immediately. Two days later, my ex wife emotionally abused our daughter. If I was still smoking weed every night for complacency, I probably would've shrugged it off. 6 months later, my little girl hugs me and thanks me for being there for her every weekend.
You may not have kids, but there is someone out there who needs you to be at your best every waking moment. Inebriation is a sin, sobriety is liberating, if you're worried your friends won't like you anymore then maybe they aren't really your friends. Be brave and give it a try.

I know a Dr. that smokes weed and has been smoking since high school, i know an engineer that smokes and also runs two successful businesses. I know several successful entrepreneurs that smoke. I know a marathon runner who smokes. The only guy we know who lives in his moms basement is super christian and stays at home not working because the secular world is too raunchy so he helps his mom make arts and crafts or hands out fliers for the church. I’m in a struggle with weed right now while really trying to step it up in my walk and following Jesus.
I’ve come to have the mindset shift, not that I need to pray for help to quit, but I’ve instead been asking myself “what am I willing to give up for God?l
It’s like the rich young ruler, if Jesus came to me and said give up your weed and follow me, would I be able to do it?
It’s really helped me to want to give it up for God rather than framing it as something I’m struggling to quit.
Rather you drink a glass of wine or a bottle it still changes your perception.the more you take in the more you're perseption changes. It's the same with weed. The more you smoke the more you feel the effects.
The question of absolute abstinence from weed and alcohol depends on your personal walk with God, however, the overindulgence of them is an absolute sin.
As you get farther in your walk, though, you might find that you want absolute abstinence. Not that weed and alcohol are inherently bad, but giving up your pleasures is a power move for getting closer to Christ.

I'm 20 been smoking weed 10 years now. And I completely agree with this dude. From 11 to 19 I was completely fine with just sitting around not doing much, only after I started to slow down on smoking did I start to actually feel like I wasn't doing enough

I would like to add some context to weed use being related to crime stats. Before legalization the only way to get weed would be through a dealer which put you in direct contact with the shadier parts of the world

Im still young, and I usually get second-hand smoke in my house or school. Should you smoke weed for anxious feelings? I feel like being content instead of being anxious every time ffs. I'd want to smoke weed to see if it's beneficial for me being anxious, seemingly all the time, and whatnot, but im worried about addiction, health, and being a loser, or something like that.
I think weed can either be helpful or detrimental depending on the person. There’s no doubt it can make you lazy with no inhibitions. But for me I started smoking it a little bit after I left the Marines and it helped me a lot. When I got out I was angry, depressed, using alcohol to an obscene level as a coping mechanism, had severe anxiety, severe sleeping problems and a lot of pain in my body at only 23 years old. I practically destroyed my life with alcoholism and turned to smoking weed as pretty much just another way to escape my problems. Before I knew it I felt better, like a lot better. I didn’t drink everyday, I would get up and clean the house more often, I went back to the gym, I started eating again, and I was outdoors way more often. Not to mention my depression and anxiety improved way more than any pill had improved it. It depends on how you use it.

like a bunch of stuff we can do in this life, weed can put you somewhat in a dead end, where you stop pushing yourself. A lot of people can function quite well on it, but if you struggle with motivation it can easily become the be all and end all of your life, which certainly doesn’t correlate with achieving goals. Having said that, being fixated on a relationship that holds you back can have the same net result. There are plenty of things in this world that can stop you achieving your potential.
Yeah, I'm out here every day doing my job in the trades and smoking weed in my off time. That's what you call a functional weed smoker. However in my time you were kicked out of your parents house between 18 and 20, depending on your household, and by that time you'd have had a job or jobs since you were 16, so by that time you had either an apartment all to yourself or you had a few roommates. See its not the drug that's the problem it's society. Pushing their naritives, ideas, political agendas through social media in which since my generation they have been force feeding social media down our throats to numb our minds, and to give our brains an overdose of dopamine that constantly needs to be filled with more and more use of social media. Pastors and preachers have been taught to conveniently overlook the explicit commandment in the Old Testament to use herbs, including pot. Most of them do not study this aspect of the Bible or are even aware of it, due to the cultural and historical context regarding weed. However, I have heard hundreds of sermons on be fruitful and multiply or how the bible gives us permission to eat meat despite also saying thou shalt not kill! Yet for this subject rarely do you find any preachers or pastors even willing to ask the question? Anyway for those who don't know and if you are a Christian and wondering Jesus said to the pure all things are pure! Genesis 1:28 and 29. There is absolutely now way you can argue against weed in that verse 29. YES God gave us permission to smoke weed! 😅

Jesus saved me from my weed addiction. It will slowly eat away your ambitions and your brain believe me I know. However, unlike getting drunk, you’ll be in more control…just wasting time moving no where but backwards in life if you ask me.
God gives us the use of plants and herbs for curative care, both physical (2 Kings 20:7; Psalm 51:7) and emotional (Psalm 45:8; Genesis 43:11). Reflect on how people have usedi plants, seeds and herbs.
I also want to add that drinking to just “enjoy a nice glass of wine” is a low level high, and it is intentional. The reason you drink is because you want to feel some type of way. You’re just fooling yourself because you’re used to that high.
I completely understand the sentiment of "being sober". However, with Marijuana, the same as with alcohol, you can control to a large degree, how high you get.
One puff of an indica strain, can make me feel slightly relaxed, the same as with a small glass of wine. If i take one puff if a sativa blend, when im having a bad pain day, i can at least get off the couch and clean the kitchen.
2 puffs might make me very relaxed, similar to 2 glasses of wine, and 3 puffs... well you get the idea. 🤷♀️

I do have a legitimate question. I’m a disabled veteran and marijuana helps me a lot. I don’t like regular medication because I don’t trust the VA or anyone else who prescribes pharmaceuticals.
When I smoke I don’t reach REM sleep so my dreams don’t keep me up all night. My intention is to get high, feel no pain, eat a little food and then sleep without waking up covered in sweat. Am I still going to hell? It’s something that I’m actually worried about.
As you grow in your spiritual development you should find that you grow out of wanting to use drugs anyway. As for wine its part of the communion Jesus clearly drank wine. But then also warned us not to get drunk.

But weed can absolutely ruin your life. I had cannabis use disorder, and ive been clean for just over 2 weeks. It stopped me from doing various jobs, you can't eat without it or sleep or function on a regular level. I've been drinking as a crutch recently but not to the point of alcoholism. I would smoke 2 or 3 bongs before my day even starts and then multiple more throughout the day, I'd joke saying work was my biggest T break. It took a toll on my health, mostly blood in my fleghm. Trust me man it's better to quit whilst ahead.

I smoke weed and I am not lazy at all and I have not lived with my mother since I was 17. I also love God and Jesus they are both my best friends. Weed helps with anxiety. If that’s the only thing you do then your doing good

I dont agree with the wine at dinner. If you are enjoying a glass of wine at diner and it has alcohol.. depending on your tolerance you will get a buzz.. if nothing else light headed...so that Particular part of the argument in my opinion is false. Justifing consonsumption based on amount is dumb. .. and if including religion isnt the act of intentionally ingesting poison a sin? And hate to be the bearer of bad news but alcohol is toxic.

Anything that takes your focus off of God is bad weather it weed or alcohol or food or hobbies. The point is, keep your focus on God in every you do. If you're concerned about what someone else is doing your focus isn't on God.
Having a drink with your meal is getting drunk as much as smoking before a meal is simply getting high
A drink will not get you drunk. You won't even feel it. You need at least 3 or 4 drinks to start feeling anything. And even then you are only a bit tipsy. You need to chug back to back 7 to 9 to get drunk. On the other hand 2 or 3 pulls on a joint can make make you feel stoned.
Im not a fan of weed. It appeals to a lot of people, but especially demographic that would be happy living in moms basement, but certainly not everyone who smokes is that way. Its not a characteristic of Marijuana use, but of a dominant subsect of Marijuana users.
That said, its not even close to on par with alcohol abuse.

I used to agree it’s very easy to be content on weed. It’s just like wine and you develop a tolerance.
It’s also the only thing that relaxes my neck enough to allow movement. Sadly I rarely do get “high”.
Alcohol is not my thing because it makes me have to pee and makes my back hurt if I only had one shot because it dehydrates the spinal cord.

Experience tells me that we are here for a purpose and until we have completed our mission we will be here.
Expectations are a great source of inspiration for a well lived life however if you have no desire to live then any life will do.
For the record, my father started my mother on weed when they were young and then my mother gave me 2 joints and I’m glad she did. After multiple injuries and severely limited mobility therapy is 💨

The point of smoking marijuana for me is not to get "high" its like smoking a cigarette to me. I dont smoke the concentrated stuff anymore not that it would be wrong but i can get stoned so i just smoke the weakest strain of flower that i can. Try to keep it under 20% thc. Cbd gives me anxiety actually idk i just feel stra g on it so i smoke bud and i dont get stoned or high but i do sometimes get cotton mouth thats all. I plan on quitting as soon as i grow spiritually enough. I have demonic demons trying to kill me i have been in a spiritual battle for my soul for 3 years now and this last year has been crazy ill just say that. God bless everyone. And again, as soon as i get my 8 day fast done the demons will leave me i know that. But i ha e onky been able to make it 3 days. Today is my 1st day at 2nd attempt. I would however have made it more than 3 days last week but i smoked weed on the 3rd day to calm my ner es and stomach and i gave into eating so i broke my fast. So but even today on my 1st day 2nd attempt i smoked weed but i did t break my fast. I probably wont smoke weed tomorrow but if i do i know that i wont smoke after tomorrow. Anyway please pray for me.

Alcohol is worst physically. It will eventually kill your body in the long term usage. That is, if youre a alcoholic. But it can be taken in moderation with food. Which wine seems to be an antioxident (stoners probably dont know that word yet, i know.)

All ive seen from stoners in the long term usage is how they developpe mood swings, depression, anxiety, panic attacks and in the more severe and rare cases... psychosis and schizophrenia. Stoners is just a slang for "out of touch with reality". No followers of jesus would ever touch weed.
I smoke "weed" every day. Have done since highschool. I'm now 44, own my own business, own my home, have a family, have a successful adult daughter and take care of my parents. I live a pretty good life full of creativity, hobbies and hard work.

Let's be honest about marijuana. I've had 20 plus years experience with the plant from flower to 4 years straight of smoking dabs every single day to edibles, ect. With the data I've gathered, marijuana may be less harmful than alcohol from a health perspective but there are definitely downsides to it. But is it a sin? That has been something I've struggled with for a long time. Much like anything in this world, moderation is the key. Marijuana can seem harmless, but over years of abuse you can start to see changes in many aspects of your life. The Bible says any seed baring herb is good for man and Jesus did turn water into wine for a wedding celebration. But nowhere does it say it's ok to abuse. I found walking with Jesus is better sober minded and the more outside influence you have, like marijuana, can open the door for unwanted distractions. I like smoking and praying but the problem for me is that turns into smoking all day everyday very easily so I just try to refrain from the activity as much as possible.
There are weed strains for daytime use, they pick you up rather than couchlock you. Also there are strains that don´t get you high.

I of course do not know the answer either. But I think anything can become a sin if it becomes more important than God in your life. If you had to stop today for God (to include fulfilling all of your responsibilities, like taking care of your family), could you? I think that is a better way to approach this question.
In this way of thinking Weed would be a sin for some and not for others. Enjoying what God has created is different than placing those creations above him. If you can not control your impulses for anything (Other than God of course, I say God is the only healthy obsession.) then it should be cut out of your life completely. I think this is what "if your hand causes you to sin then chop it off" means.
Lol bro put me on the spot with the being okay with what isness. I questioned this as I was smoking and am incredibly more open minded to opposing opinions, the low expectation I would translate to it fills you with gratitude with the right attitude and charges you up, eventually it begins showing you to yourself and if your trying to be kind to yourself this becomes powerful because you dont judge, unless u allow the outside to taint you with an abrasive opinion on your experience then you bypass the pure spiritual connection to the experience, over use by who's standard? Yours or your egos? Try before you buy this opinion, it is both extremely beneficial and does allow you to zone in on the present moment a lot easier connected to tbe body and breath more naturally, it depends on where you are at on your journey and who you are trying to be you for, your soul, or an image of yourself

I believe in God and I believe God is okay with me. Smoking weed even though yes, I did use to smoke it to get high but I'm mostly use it for pain managemand I smoke every day After work. I don't drive. When I smoke And I would say one sip of wine is no different than one puff off a joint

You can definitely smoke weed for the taste and smell like you would smoke a cigar so even though that’s not common, it is hypothetically conceivable especially if low-THC strains were produced then you would get to a similar level that a glass or two of wine would bring you. So for that reason I think this is not the best argument for recreational weed being intrinsically immoral

This is pretty ironic because the only reason I watched this video is because I was high on weed.
All I got too say is be not drunk with wine but filled with the holy spirit .I suffer from horrible ptsd chronic pain I have imbalance with emotion. And I have a very high tolerance for weed. And I can't stand the idea of take a bunch of man made chemicals that give me cancer when. I can do something God created for a purpose that seems to be highly beneficial in moderation up to stabilizing mood making it easy to sleep to work through the day not be crippled by pain or the workings of the evil mind and fighting cancer (I lost a friend only yo speak to the doctor and find if she would have been able to smoke weed she would have lived at least a little long to try and find a longer lasting solution. Why are you guys so defensive about smoking weed? He’s absolutely right, I’ve been studying scripture for going on 40 years now, and I’ve been smoking weed for 30 of those years.
I can tell you from experience that I don’t need it, I could live without it, and I probably smoke too much, but I work for it, and I don’t depend on the government to take care of my needs so I can afford more weed.

God did create all the plants and every thing that is naturally grown on earth but he also created the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and told them not to eat from it... then what happened we ended up in chaos and death we weren't meant to smoke weed for peace or escape or just to get by the joy of the lord is our true strength and relationship with him if you don't know the lord(and btw i don't encourage alcohol) and you want that relationship and don't know his power and all you know is you love getting high and smoking weed let him know that and be genuine when you ask if your going to ask but ask the Lord if he would show you how he really wanted to have a relationship with you and how he intended for our lives to be and ask him into your heart if you want to but you gotta be genuine pick up that bible and read and seek God..
