      To be fair no one making a fuss about it except for the “fandom” you won’t see anyone talking about it even the “peaceful protestors” in the next two weeks. So I suggest you to only keep off the toxic Eurovision blogs and voila problem solved.

    I was so confused when Serbia got 22 points from THE JURY like 75% of the countries should find some new jurors because this is crazy, same goes for slovenia and georgia (who can probably outsing all proffesional jurors) getting less jury points than spain💀

Did not expect Portugal to do a bit better than Greece, but dang. 6th for Ireland after bad results for years? Yeah she an be proud.

    I still think, in a way, that Joost’s disqualification helped ensure *that* country wouldn’t win. Joost would’ve eaten yet another couple hundreds of points, which would’ve split BL and Nemo’s points even thinner. Justice for Joost’s tho.

    We've watched it with friends in Rotterdam and I did still enjoy it. Switzerland winning is deserved. But I have to be honest; there is this nagging feeling something isn't right. There are too many signals. It was a slick show but there was no room for anything. Joost wasn't even mentioned. If this is the future of ESC the only thing I can say: Welkom in Europa, jongen. Let's just say giving 10 points to Germany and 12 points to Luxembourg?
    Alesia, I feel you're pain but Bambie did great with the juries. There is room for us.

  • @Barista.Nathan
    @Barista.Nathan Před 16 dny

    This is one of the strongest years of Eurovision of the 21st century, it's the year with the most queer representation and lots of delicious genre and Sonic diversity, and yet all of it was overshadowed by the EBU effing around and finding out by not disqualifying Israel the moment they openly submitted a propaganda song... Critically, something that the Ebu banned Belarus for doing just a few years earlier. Slap on the wrist and a Fresh coat of paint over the same propaganda song to make it palatable for the ebu, and now here we are... Two of the biggest stars of this season in exit interviews basically saying they were miserable for the entire contest and wish it could have ended sooner. When the winner of your contest is telling you that your contest is broken, you're in deep trouble.

    The problem with Eurovision is the same as with all social media nowadays; Anybody with a CZcams channel and a following can claim to be a 'Eurovision expert.' No experience or background in journalism, public relations, music, critical thinking, or basic professional etiquette is necessary. Granted, these skills can always be acquired. But too many of the content creators we're seeing today- in all forms of social media- are really only interested in their own self-promotion. Eurovision isn't their central focus; they are.They don't discuss the merits of the songs. They have no knowledge or respect for the countries' cultural and musical influences --Instead it's all, " I LOVE THIS song, I HATE THAT song," and the viewer is supposed to be entertained and informed simply by watching these podcasters' facial expressions while they watch videos.
    It's narcissism. And it's also what gives so many of these podcasters the belief that they can behave however the hell they choose. Because thousands of subscribers tune in just for THEM, after all. So, if acting like a petulant a-hole gets them more subscribers, then that's exactly how they're going to behave.
    I remember when cameras were brought into the press room back in 2014.. The atmosphere was like that at a college library, with reporters'' faces pressed in their laptops as they feverishly typed in silence. They were there to report the story of that days' events. But in 2024, the people in the press room now see themselves as the main story. They don't serve Eurovision, rather Eurovision's purpose is to serve them.This statement doesn't apply to everyone, naturally. But it's still the direction where I see it heading, and it may soon prove very detririmental to their involvement with the contest down the road.
    Now for my probably very unpopular opinion regarding Eurovision's biggestt drama this year. I believe the EBU should accept full responsibility for its decision to allow Israel's participation, and for all he problems that resulted because of it. It created a toxic, stressful, and potentially dangerous environment for everyone involved with the contest. Keeping everyone safe from harm should be the EBU's top priority, and it failed. Thank God no major crises occurred. But the worries of some impending threat of radicalized violence was something many of us carried with us all week.
    That said...The EBU permitted Eden Golan to perform this year. And so by their permission she had every right to be there. The treatment towards her by the press, podcasters, and her fellow contestants was abhorrent. Regardless of how justified or deserved people believed it was, it still amounted to bullying.
    Now, we can remember back in 2014-15 when the Tolmachevy Sisters and Polina Gagarina received audible boos, -due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. But they were nothing like what went on this past week. Eden was suibjected to harrassment, ridicule, and death threats. She required bodyguards around her at all times. And all because she's from Israel snd agreed to participate in a song contest.
    And no, I'm not pro-Israel. But I'm against seeing anyone getting bullied just because of who they are and where they come from. The level of torment became so elevated, that at one point other contestants were being threatened with boycotts simply for agreeing to participate in the contest with her.
    We all knew the EBU's decision, and we could've boycotted the contest and stayed away from it this year.. Joost, Bambi Thug, Marina Satti, and every other contestant could have chosen to withdraw, as plenty of countries had threatened to do before ultimately agreeing to take part. We were well aware of the conditions, yet we still wanted things our way. And justified by a sense of moral righteousness and superiority, the collective aim became to make this as miserable of an experience as possible for the 20 year-old Israeli woman. Which it succeeded in doing. Only it ended up being a miserable experience for just about everyone. We can try to blame Israel for that.. But so many people contributed to killing the joy out of this year's contest. Because they refused to let this year just be about the music.

    Nemo's win brings credibility to Eurovision...this is the only redeeming factor out of such a messy and politically ridden edition - (Israel gained what Italy lost in the public vote because of that leak - no one believe it was accidental and Angelina paid a price for that).
    Anyway, the best and most creative act ever to appear in this competition has been recognized and awarded. I'm happy I voted for Nemo (and Angelina). This is good for Eurovision in the long term but something must be done to keep politics away for music.

  • @milosnikolic6154
    @milosnikolic6154 Před 16 dny

    Are we seriously talking about this as a non-rigged competition? 2021 - Italy won (the first country in Europe where COVID ''outbreak'' started); 2022 - Ukraine (war started); 2023 - Sweden (50 years of ABBA + Sweden entered NATO; also, Finland was second - also entered NATO, what a coincidence that two best songs were from these two countries); 2024 - Switzerland - non-binary artist (should have been Israel but I guess they didn't dare to push it that far after all the protests and scandals from this year's Eurovision, so they went with a reserve winner).
    I am not saying the winning songs were not good, but somehow always the most politically correct winners have the best (or better say, ''good enough'') songs in specific years.
