- Bad boy of the opera Alfie Boe is known for breaking boundaries and his latest album 'Storyteller is no exception. We caught up with him at Joe's pub in Manahttan while he was on a press tour in celebration of the US launch of the new album on the Decca label. The English tenor took a moment before the show to chat with us about what it feels like to cover the likes of Elvis and what he thinks about the state of the modern opera.
Love this mans voice ,and with Michael Ball they are fantastic 💕💕💕
I just can't seem to get enough of Alfie. What an amazing life he has led. Thank you very much for allowing an American to hear this interview.
Alfie you are brilliant the best
I was there! Special memories! He gave a very special performance a few minutes after this interview. Rocked it out!
So touched by hearing Alfie talk about the stories he tells about through the singing of the songs he chose for album. And, what a 'down to earth' gentleman. Keep on going for it, Alfie.
Love, love, love this genuinely talented man; seems to know what he wants, who he is and how he hopes to accomplish his goals. His voice is a treasure as is his demeanor.
This man sweats talent! He is absolutely phenomenal!
Thank goodness for that guy who owned the sports car,. otherwise the world may not have alfie boe the tenor
you are amazing young man
I first heard him when he did the Queens diamond jubilee and just remember thinking wow what a voice, been a fan ever since.
Alfie has a fabulous voice, he is also a fabulous performer especially in Les Mis. He is very special. I have all of Alfies CDs which gives me great comfort after losing my lovely husband Michael suddenly with mesothelioma.
Alfies wonderful voice keeps me going. Thank you Alfie.
I’m very sorry about your husband ❤️
@@UnknownUser-rp1zv Thank you so much xx
Understand you so much better. Please never change . You have a wonderful heart an a soul from god .
One of a kind, a unique, wonderful, artist. Could sing the phone book and make it special. Love him.
I really enjoy his voice, personality and he’s cute too!!
Alfie's so awesome!!
This is an excellent interview. I loved the way Alfie describes losing himself in the music of his first audition…for a classical company. And his rebelliousness abt, specifically, gettin bored by GOING to the opera! He is as as as original a thinker as he is a brilliant singer.
Since age of 10 I am into rock music thanks to THE WHO perform in my hometown Essen, and I could see them on TV. The outstanding composition of Townshend's Quadrophenia masterpiece offers so many classical elements. Now I am age 44 and because of Alfie I really get into classic music. Too bad that the Classic Quadrophenia Tour coming to Cologne Sept 2015 was cancelled. We had tickets for the front row!
Alfie Boe is not Bad Boy of the Opera. He is clearly aiming to get people of all ages into Opera by changing the mood a bit. Alfie is the reason why I love classical, and I'm only 14. So what he's not like the other Opera singers like Colm Wilkinson, Michael Ball, Dale Anderson etc, he's still my favourite Tenor, as he is to many others.
Carrie Stewart Same. By the way, we're the same age, but I started loving opera only this summer.
Alfie is incredible and inspira
tion
Love you, Alf.
Music is personally special to everyone.
The performing arts complex in Brisbane ,Australia used to have a cheap season ticket for ballet and opera performances for people under 26 years of age to expose them to a style of music they might not have otherwise experienced. I fell in love with the ballet and the opera through those cheap tickets but I never felt comfortable attending performances as I am one of those people who you could put in expensive clothes but I will still look like a bag of spuds tied in the middle. The development of digital media has made it all readily available.
I have not heard Angels of Montgomery. It is pretty much my story..minus a detail.....Tonight..and not the first time recently..I am in that same place. I keep going back to Alfie music..and now this interview. I was listening to Bring Him Home..and it helped sort of..only because I could sense the intensity-the prayer in the song as Alfie sang it....I'm hanging on by my fingernails...I get HIM..AND much of the music I've listened to.Thank you for that Alfie! It helps others more than you know!!
cool
come on, you got this
I love when he says "em" for 'um' :-)
