Legislators designed the bill to address much more than Illinois' policing standards, but time will tell what kind of effect its changes will have at the community and state level.

This video will discuss some of the significant changes coming out of Illinois' newly passed criminal justice reform bill. We will cover the following topics: Prison Death Investigation and Reporting, Reform to the "One Phone Call" Rule, Following Arrest, Victim Compensation Eligibility, Mandatory Supervised Release, Handling "Resisting Arrest" Arrests, The End of Cash Bail
This bill will severely damage the criminal justice system in Illinois, you’re gonna see criminals be arrested for serious crimes and out the next day back in the streets.

It’s bad enough that convicted felons are being caught with semi automatic firearms and given such low bails $10,000 bail that means they only have to post $1000 to get back onto the streets within a 24 hour period of being arrested for a serious crime.
I think lots of Illinois residents are going to be waking up what their politicians are really passing.
A few good things do come from the law. More calls being one of them. Just imagine getting only one call and you can't get a hold of anyone
That’s not true. One call means you call as any times as you need to and as many people as you need until you get someone to answer. That is 1 call. Not 1 phone dial and if no one answers you rot in jail. It don’t work that way.
@@DEEJAYKLONE even if that's the case the ability to contact multiple people definitely helps especially if a person is innocent
I wanna say ive wrapped my head around Illinois thought process. Theyre trying to increase the value of a criminals life which is fair theyre still people, some more then others, but i feel like theyre doing it opposite. Instead of removing bail and releasing why not remove bail and hold more? Yes this will cause backlash but will advertise crimes as not a bill paid with cash but with your life. This is saying if the crime would be jail with bail you’re free to go. It devalues the average law abiding citizen which in turn will result in more crime and guess what! We cant punish it. Dark ages of illinois has been a few years but its just getting darker
How stupidly can this bill get, need a border around that place
What place?

@@omargarcia20 true 😅😅😅 I admit it was a dumb question
Illinois will be used as the example of what happens when you defund the police
Except they are not defunding the police
@@tbglover I assure you they most definitely are.
