Love these snippets, but speaking of volume, can you turn the music down in these? It's distracting.

I vote for no music. Not everyone enjoys the same kind of music and it is very distracting and annoying when it is so loud.

It would be brilliant if hacks would be offered as extras-happy to pay 🌸 try it with one pattern - see if the extra is popular.

Will look back at this later as the background music meant if i turned the volume up so I could hear Haley the music was too loud and set off my tinitus :(

Hi Hailey, Here's hoping you and all your loved ones are weathering this Pandemic well! I love this lesson. I came back to watch it again when deciding whether to make my own in a Knit or Woven.
The knit is lovely. How about another doing another slash and spread Patten for us during our times of total Ukyness?
You are such a sweet girl. If my son wasn't gay...
    Make today great!

I just had to comment that the music seemed too distracting. I'd like to know how to adjust for a large tummy, but without putting all the fullness at the hem. I've tried this method and was unhappy with the effect and I'm thinking I might have to add to the side seams? The pattern I was using was for a knit crossover top.

thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. its so great. I tried it immediately and its just so great. my only problem : I noticed that after slashing and spreading, the top became longer than the original length of my top. what could be the problem please?

Great info but I do agree with the others about the music. It is not necessary when someone is speaking. I do have a question though. Why is the front dropped down, does this not make the front hang lower that the sides. Also, I assume that this is to be done on the back as well? Thank you.

  • @DiHodgetts

I love the finished top, I prefer to wear tops that are roomy around the waist area so this hack if perfect for me. Just wondering though, what's the difference between this method and just grading the side seam to a larger size?

Thanks for this video. I do have a question: why did you spread the pattern at the baseline, i.e., the horizontal spread? Is there a specific amount you spread it there? Thanks

How do you determine the space between the baseline cut and the spread section?

    • @SeamworkVideo
      @SeamworkVideo  Před 2 měsíci

It's a design choice - the wider the space, the swing-ier the design!

Dear Haley. I hope that I've understood what you're doing here. But could you help me for a special problem with slashing and spreading? I have made a muslin for a simple top (woven) and after a lot of fiddling it fits nicely. But... I need more volume at one point. My biggest part is the upper belly right under the underbustline. The stomach protrudes like a dome. Where to put the slash line and the perpendicular smaller slashes for creating this without changing too much of the overall form? It's my first fitting project and I'm quite helpless here. To repeat: I just need volume at this special point. Shoulders, bust, waist, hem fits well. It's Simplicity 8602. Thank you so much for answering and helping.

Can this technique be used to turn any standard pattern of shirt into a maternity top? I dislike maternity clothes that fit snug to the belly, and I am looking to create my own style of maternity clothes, that are very feminine.

Your top looks great! How do I apply this to create wide leg shorts on a pattern that has darts? Perhaps choosing to start the slashing below the bottom of the darts?

The music really detracts from this video. It competes with her voice. Would be a great vid otherwise tho. ;-)
