We received this 3 weeks ago. Wow did we enjoy this. Great theme, story kind of like choose your own adventure, rpg elements and many more. The only negatives long gameplay and setup. Needless to say we get engrossed in the story and adventure. This was a very positive surprisingly good game. It is a tough game to beat. Thanks for the playthrough!

I think my only criticism of the game really is it almost feels as if the game plays you, rather than the other way about, largely because you, in essence have only 2 actual decisions to make per turn (occasionally an encounter will add in one or two decisions but that’s rare). It’s almost as if you are a passenger on a themed rollercoaster and can’t do much to change things. Which is kinda the whole point of anything lovecraftian I guess..
We really like the theme and getting lost in the story in this one too. It is very tough, but most of these games are, and that is part of the appeal and what adds to the horror! Thanks for your comment. Really glad you enjoyed the video!
Very nice how to play and playthrough. I have some games that I haven't yet got to the table but which I need to cull for the sake of space; Arkham Horror was one of those. Zee Garcia's review made me reconsider so I searched for more information on the game and found your channel. Your how to play and playthrough was done so well that I watched a lot longer than I normally watch playthroughs and I'm glad I did. One of our favourite board games. Along with Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle (plus the 2 expansions) we probably play this the most. Stlil got board games sitting on the shelf months after purchasing which still haven't been played yet (looking at the daunting Gloomhaven!).
We haven't played Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle. Does it work well at 2 players? Arkham Horror is indeed very good. The story and the theme are fantastic. Gloomhaven is my favourite game! I think it is worth it to take it down from the shelf. Actually, the big box can be daunting, but the rules are actually fairly straightforward and it is not as complicated as it might seem. I say go for it! :-)
@@AllAboardBoardgames The Potter games works well for two players - we usually play two characters (we often do that for games). Usefully for me no knowledge of HP films or books is necessary to play although I imagine it can inrease the fun if you do know what the spells etc are. Tomorrow I'm going to read through the rules of Gloomhaven to try to get to grips with it. Glad it's not as daunting as the myriad of components that it comes with suggests!
