It is funny seeing all foreigners dancing gleefully to our dance! And they got a standing ovation too! This sudden love for Indian music is surprising! We always had good music and dance! I think somewhere RRR connected with the audience! Congrats to the whole team! As someone said, getting awards is one thing, but being loved by the audience is a great thing indeed! Happy to see our music getting appreciated all over the world!
Important to remember though that the west has always had an infatuation with indian instrumentals and dance - throwback to the 1960's and there were lots of collaborations and crossovers between 60's rock and roll and Bollywood, but also guitarists learning sitar. Even Britney Spears uses a lot of indian instrumentation in some of her early work! But it's nice that it's having a resurgence!
Yeah, this movie was pretty unique for us. Speaking as an American, it's important to understand that Indian films rarely find their way into movie theaters over here. A large part of that is because we have such a small Indian population, nowhere near the size of our Chinese, Japanese, African American, or Hispanic populations. Outside of big cosmopolitan cities like New York, you're unlikely to see much Indian culture outside of what Western Orientalists brought over from India decades ago, like yoga and Indian spiritualism and music. And even then, because of the hippy movement in the 60's and 70's, that stuff is generally associated with middle-class white people, ironically. Most Americans know next to nothing about Indian history. The one figure that pretty much everyone in America knows is Gandhi. Otherwise, Americans are largely ignorant about broader Indian history, cultures, languages, with only passing familiarity with Hinduism, Buddhism, and the British Raj. Before this movie, most Americans didn't even know that Tollywood was a thing. But speaking as an American, RRR was easily the most fun movie (along with Everything, Everywhere, All at Once) that I've probably ever seen in my lifetime. It was majestically fun. And I'm glad to see it getting the recognition it deserves.
indian music is the best! i live in Sydney and luckily we get most of the big bollywood films at our cinemas here :) i just went to a theatre/musical last week it was called Sunderella ( a reimagining of Cinderella but with LGBT characters) and it was so good! Also, india has the best food in the world without a doubt!
Yes madam you are right.Remember foreign dancers were brought to India in a special flights for a particular song in K3G for doing western dance number with Hrithik and Kareena. But Naatu made westerners to dance for our numbers.Feeling good
Winning award is one thing Creating an impact on global stage is another The fact that team performed Naatu Naatu on Oscar stage shows how global RRR is think of fan following of our stars
I’ve never seen performers in Hollywood (I know they aren’t but this is a Hollywood awards show) perform like this in a LONG time. This is Gene Kelly caliber.

Song is full of Energetic which can make you dance even if you don't want to & the steps are just Awesome..The best song of the Movie ❤️ loved it and so happy for it
All dancers did a great job. But I would have wished Indian dancers represent the song! India has some world class dancers who have won biggest world competitions.
What do you know! A song and dance number at the Oscars! This is something...that would have been completely standard once upon a time. Thanks, Bollywood, for bringing back the musical!
And a note on some diversity that could slip by: Cool to see a dancer of some size there! Yeah, I'm talking gal in pink dress stage left. Women dancing professionally don't all have to look like Balanchine tiny waifs these days, but making the chorus line is still not as easy for a big gal.
One correction... This is not Bollywood.... This is a Telugu song and movie which is from southern part of India. Which is totally different from Bollywood
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Awesome performance and that’s why they won the Oscar but the movie should have won an Oscar too because it was excellent in every aspect and even more because it is base on real life!!! Congratulations to the Indian actors and to the English actors but even more to the director and choreographer!!
Congratulations to the team of RRR. I'm old enough to remember when there were other winners from India. Can't seem to remember the orgasimic reaction then.
The choreography should’ve definitely won something
Might be national award
Oscar for best choreography, stayed in 1930

Yea, you can never tell what movies will be popular in what countries.
I think Warcraft and Venom did really well in China for example.
