  • We often run strip-cropping tests at the PTI Farm. This year, we've been doing a unique experiment that involves a cover crop blend between corn rows that we're testing livestock grazing on.
What does that look like? Check out today's video to find out!

What is in your lettuce mix? Are you expecting winter kill or will you need to spray kill the mix later to clean it up for corn planting.

Love the vision but hogs might be a better option for the intended effect since they will graze heavily as well as tilling lightly, aerating the soil so fungi can breathe. Their manure would be incorporated into the soils automatically. They could be moved weekly to a new 1000 foot area with temporary electric fence which is super cheap and keeps them out the corn. A sled holding water and feed could be pulled down the isle pretty easily as well so that 50 or so hogs could be kept. At pasture raised prices a farmer could see up to 50k for the batch with some marketing or offload the hogs to a marketer at a discount.
