As a mesmer main for over 10,000 hours, I hate spear and an super disappointed we got two physical weapons in a row, and both of them feel clunky.
Personally, i find physical dps boring, so was really hoping for a new condi weapon to make my finally stop playing double staves, but they couldn't even at least classify it as a blade to allow Virtuoso to apply bleeds with it?
AND this was right after they took away our NEW ability to give our clones chaos aura.
Just can't win as a condi player 😭😭😭

You didn't have time for thief or rev?
They both seem like pve weapons, but rev introduces a fun, unique playstyle. Thief is the usual spam, but it's skills got to hit the enemy. I suffered rly hard testing it.
I don't 100% agree with ele. I think power spear ele has insane potential for roaming and even zerg fights. The damage is good, the sustain is also fine. Imo it's also very fun to play. It's a mixture of hammer and staff - a bit spammy but you still got to think.
While it wasn't the best, it was the most fun to me :)

Hey, the casting time of the Rev spear is too slow, so I haven't tested the class properly, so I can't give much feedback about it. Based on what it offers, it could indeed be a good pve weapon. The Thief weapon is definitely good for pve! For pvp and roaming we'll see if people find a good (condi) build for it, probably specter.
All in all, 3 days is not a lot of time to deep dive into all the new class weapons, especially if you don't have that much spare time.
About the Ele: I said that the weapon is probably mainly for pve and wvw blob fights, but it depends on the damage output compared to the staff. In terms of roaming, I fought some eles and tested it myself and it didn't seem/feel to be good enough for roaming, at least for me. Especially the lack of mobility. I agree that the Ele Spear is spammy.
For me, the highlight of all the weapons was the Mesmer spear. If they had added at least one defensive skill to the Engineer spear, it might have been the Engineer instead.
Overall, it's just my first impression and I've played just a few hours in total while testing the new weapons.
It is likely that the weapons will receive some buffs and nerfs before the release of the new addon so my opinion of the usecase of certain weapons might change in the near future.
(I logged back into the game after almost 2 months mainly because of the beta weekend.)

I believe we can all agree that the design of these spears indicates they are intended solely for PvE, as usual. The cool, flashy effects are clearly meant to enhance the PvE experience and thats about it.

Yes, the flashy effects serve the purpose of selling the product.
