You don't have to drop the evaporator panel to remove the fan motor, just remove fan grill screws minus 1, slide the grill, remove 3 motor mount screws and motor will drop in your hand, much easier and faster.
Thanks again for your videos. I find them interesting, learn a lot from them and admire the fact that when you make mistakes you don't edit your video and delete. We learn from mistakes and we get better. Just one advise and request: we need to see temperature and pressures on gauges not only in the beginning, but also at the end so we learn proper T/P at the unit being repaired and charged. Thanks for sharing and giving us your valuable time.
Those commercial freezers and refrigerators are high maintenance, everything breaks very easy and they have a lot more unnecessary parts that fail all the time(scam). In our coffee shop the few regular not commercial brand works better, easy to maintain and they really do not break easy plus they are a lot cheaper.
Hey Ken I was confused because the total charge was 8 oz. you weighed in 5.2oz then had to turn on the unit to suck in the remaining charge. You added 0.7oz then an additional 0.7 oz So that makes it 6.6 oz total charge. Maybe you added more off camera or I missed something. If you go low on charge again follow your discharge line from the compressor and most likely it has a loop the goes into the condensate drain pan. The copper gets corroded and is known for leaking. Make sure the loop is under water then look for very very fine bubbles with a flashlight, you have to look very close
Now you know for next time! On all freezers they have a fan delay temp sensor wired to turn the evap fan on once the evap coil gets below freezing 32 degrees. This will allow any condensation still remaining on the evap coil to freeze onto the coil instead of being blown back into the box area. Usually your fan guards will get all frosty/frozen when the fan is not being delayed to turn on because the condensation will get blown into the fan guards then freeze there since its a freezer.
yes, and my books say that temp to cut in is 25F, but The Heatcraft OEM fan delay I got is a 33F, so it migh be for a different reason they use 33, like the placement of the sensor may not be right on the coil??? not sure why… I usually see frozen raindrops on the ceiling too, that can sometimes be caused by a plugged drain and the pan heater is boiling out the condensate off the bottom of the pan…
thanks for posting Ken, the easiest way to charge is hook up hoses and purge then zero out your scale, then just add 8 oz.,then you dont need to disconnect and weigh the container.
Okay, at the 24:09 minute mark he said he only pulled out 4 ounces. He did not take into account the trapped refrigeratant in the recovery machine and hose from the recovery machine to the tank. This system is a critical charge. He cannot weight the refrigeratant like this. And why didn't he check the amperage draw on the motor before replacing it? 🤔
Refrigerator is supposed to be 35-40 degree's. not 3 degree's. Possible bad temperature display because at 3 degree's customer would be telling u it's freezing all htere stuff in the refrigerator.
excellent video. would you consider making one on refrigeration starting sequence.step by step. also one to interpret the schematics on a true refri. or freezer. thanks
appreciate the video, but wonder about your approach regarding the PT chart and temps from the digital readout. Perhaps better to take temp from refrigerant line clamp probe instead of relying on an air temp probe that is likely inside the cabinet. No way your pressure to temp will match anything on your chart.
Why didn't you spend an Extra 15 Minutes to do a Leak check with a electronic Leak Detector. you could have done it at the point where the unit was off and the Refrigerant pressure was at 100psig balanced and ran around it with a Ge-h10 g if u found the leak you could have repaired it . if no leak was found u coul dhave moved on. You could have looked for oil stain etc.
I was wondering that also, half the charge was missing, should definitely leak check. Plus when ac,refrig/freezer, is not making temp. usually means low charge.
Thanks for all the videos, very good learning information. I have an older walkin cooler that uses r22. The compressor is making noise very 5-10mins. The noise sound like seal broke inside of compressor. The suction line at the valve on the compressor will rise from 65f to 135f then within 10sec it will drop back down to 55-65. This cycle keep going every 5mins. I am wondering what should the psi be for r22?
If your compressor is running and all fans as well, you will need to feel the refrigerant lines before and after the compressor. you are looking for a temperature difference to show that you are moving refrigerant. it would be best practice to put on a pressure gauge to see the refrigerant pressure/s.
Hey KEN GREAT VideoS!!! I HAVE A QUESTION I HAVE A 2 doors back bar refrigerator BUT NOT COOLING THE 2 FAN WORKS FINE the compressor looks fine, I don't KNOW what's TO DO....any suggestions Please KEN Here IS THE Model: TBB-3
I fix restaurant equipment so it's not impossible to fix when the kitchen is full... just damned inconvenient and imo dangerous. I do really like your videos, they've helped me be a better tech.and since you're smart enough to work in a empty kitchen please think about a small Bluetooth Mic. That works really be great in downing or background noise.
KenTraining too bad but regardless keep the vids coming. Every time I watch one I've got some interesting questions for the boss which gets me kudos for enthusiasm which leads to raises. LOL
you are correct, I forgot to check that as I am so used to charging R-22. I will need to check the tank and I hope it had a dip tube otherwise I messed up. Yikes.
it's Recommended / prefferred to charge R-404 in a Liquid state but, it may not be that big of a deal. you just nedd to check the refrigerant pressures on the unit while it's running and make sure the head pressure is not off the scale or something crazy. Most likely all is ok gas or liquid charging a fresh charge. Liquid charging is preferred & recommended.
I got it a comercial True T-49 freezer two doors my evaporator Fans not working the led light is not on where saids refrigeration on my timer What do you think you could be the problem?
I would call True technical support to ask them for their recommendation, but it seems like if you change the thermostat to a refrigerator temperature range thermostat you would be good to go.
My freezer ha 3 condenser fans , but one fan motor turns off . This fan motor goes out withing 5 minutes, while other two fans keep running . Any ideas ?
You should have leak checked the system. If it was low on charge the refrigerant went somewhere.
You don't have to drop the evaporator panel to remove the fan motor, just remove fan grill screws minus 1, slide the grill, remove 3 motor mount screws and motor will drop in your hand, much easier and faster.

Thanks for the tip for the leak. Yes I did have a camera issue and i believe I missed a step off camera.

@@hvac01453 What book do you have?
thanks for posting Ken, the easiest way to charge is hook up hoses and purge then zero out your scale, then just add 8 oz.,then you dont need to disconnect and weigh the container.
Would appreciate a Vedic on installing a hard start unit.
Hey Ken I am glad to see you back on track with new videos! The best ones in CZcams!!
Thank you.
Thank you for the video. you have no idea how valuable your videos are!!! you are a life saver! keep those videos coming. Im def subscribing!
Great channel! Very useful for building operators! I learnt allot from your videos. But it's been awhile since your last...
404 a is a blend of r125,r143and 134a and you should charge it as a liquid if you don't you probably will fractionate the freon .....

Horrible Job. He messed the whole Refrigerator up.
Should be charging 404a as a liquid
that evaporator tstat info helps
good work man

Good video on critical 404a charge. Noticed your camera in black and white mode a few times as well.
Thanks, I did not know it was in black and white. I will check into that.

Excellent !!!!
Why would you change the fan instead of checking possible leak to begin with? 200 dollars! I think fan was fine
Just too much pain to watch. What you need in a number. The phone number of a good contractor.
Harsh comments :( , do you happen to have a video on the subject to share?
Why are you guessing the repair. Test and repair not it might be this or that. That is throwing part a equipment.
so did you isolate the refrigerant leak?
nice video my friemd ken very important ....
$200 wasted that’s not really diagnosing it’s just parts swapping
I have True GDM 12 not cooling. Compresor kicks and all fans run but no cooling. Any help I would apprreciate.

sounds like low on charge. put on some gauges. i would pull charge and weigh in a new charge. and before that do a leak check.
very informative
is there anyway can you help me out to wire condenser fan, capacitor and overload and start relay on t 23 refrigerator, please
just get the schematic from the manufactures web site.
Ya easy pezy
Why did u change out motor how did u diagnosis it
I miss diagnosed the unit, see video from 32:55

I bought a wireless mic but the results were worse that the one on the cam corder.

don't we need to charge r404 with the tank upside down for liquid charging, or maybe your tank has a syphon tube inside?
you are correct, I forgot to check that as I am so used to charging R-22.

hello,i am surprise that u charging as vapor
u r right, I messed up on that...
good luck trying to find a 4 oz gas leak!
where is your micron gage?
NOt to Mention , Low and High side evacuation and checking Presssures Low and high side when the unit is running.
You Might want to buy a Micron guage and Learn how to use it. it's a good tool.
yes that's the only way to know how tight the system is and how well it's been evacuated and if there is any moisture present.
Nice you did it good
I got it a comercial True T-49 freezer two doors my evaporator Fans not working

What do you think you could be the problem?
I don't know with out more info.
All I can say is wow.
But to open hoses doing that special in refrigeration is not good idea
hi sir how does the broken evap fan motor makes the discharge go down to zero?
Sanoj Fil
If the fan is not moving heat, the temp drops and the evaporator freezes up. But good question.
Please can you tell me how to convert a true freezer to fridge. Originally was a freezer
I would call True technical support to ask them for their recommendation, but it seems like if you change the thermostat to a refrigerator temperature range thermostat you would be good to go.
How about to used small hoses
My freezer ha 3 condenser fans , but one fan motor turns off .
This fan motor goes out withing 5 minutes, while other two fans keep running . Any ideas ?
That fan must be on a seperate T Stat control or pressure control. if there is a schmatic that would tell you.
@@KenTraining Thank you ,I'll look for a schlmatic. I would have guessed all 3 fans on the same control.
Tks
Jay maa dharti Mata ki sakti
Double door true frezer how much back preeshor sir please tell me
I don't go by that, I put in critical charge and check cabinet temperatures.
where did the gas go
Leaked out.
check out nor Cal refrig at ion channel awesome channel you learn a lot
