I'm living in Poland and it's illegal to fish in the spillways here.
I was on vacation in the USA last year and I've made a roadtrip down the Eastcoast from NYC to Georgia.

Hey Nick - As good as you are with tech and the drone fly overs, have you ever tried something like the iBobber for scouting out some of these spots? It may help you find the deeper holes and figure out where the big catfish might be laying down. Great video as always!

Its all about drag. Caught monster fish on moderate rods and reels when the drag is set just right. Fish on Nick.

Oh yeah , needed a fishin video today ! Like the bike , definitely a life saver with this crazy heat wave this year . Love ultra lite but big fish on big water will get ya spooled . Overall not a bad day Nick , nice bike ride , caught some decent fish including bait for later . Works for me 😎👍👍

You knew it was going to be hot so you chose spot you could fish in the shade, nice choice, I like to do the same when it's that hot outside.
Should try a chicken liver on a treble hook no weight in some spillways. Big stripper and catfish will go for them.

Our boy out there sweating in the heat for all us insatiable viewers thirsting for sweet sweet content. Those were nice fish today. Glad you managed to land a few even though it was hot af. Have to give carp some credit as a fighter... they usually give a good fight.

Hey man I think I have fished that spot before.. maybe maybe not.. the place I am thinking about had basically the same conditions as you had. Fast water from the spillway, lots and lots and lots of little bait fish and a freaking ton of gar. We were using cut minnows on the bottom trying for catfish and then throwing spinnerbaits and jigs and plastic worms while we were waiting. We ended up getting lots of bites on the bottom baits and only had one small gar to show for it. Meanwhile I think it was the gar ended up robbing all our live bait a little nibble at a time. Nonstop action, if you want to call it that, but only 2 short nose gar as a final score. Was still fun! You know what I mean dude. Cool video as usual.

Man I hate to be mean but I don't understand why you use an ultra lite u just never give yourself a chance to land big fish
Because ultralights are more fun to catch fish on. Makes it way more exciting. Plus he’s using heavier setups for bigger fish. Can’t help a big ass fish biting on your ultralight sometimes.

He is. Like I said you can’t help a big fish taking your bait on an ultra light. You still do have a chance but it’s a lot less likely. Plus sometimes you need to downsize your lures depending on the time of year. It’s hard to cast those small lures on a heavier setup

Awww… that stinx that the catch of the day got away. But, if you’re just catching and releasing them, it doesn’t really matter. We call those hybrid bass Stripers. It is a hybrid, and they grow huge.

Not sure if you can. But I'd used one of them wipers as live bait on that big pole. If they running that spillway. There is a big ol' cat feeding on em I'd say. I've used whitebass, gills, crappie, etc. He'll even large mouth. I tried carp once or twice from. Ol cat eat all of em just depends if they wanna Lil feller or a biggin'.. I'd deff use a bigger rod/reel setup for that spillway and current. Them Lil creeks are fine but that's a killer spot tight there. I'd never use something ultra lite. Them double digit fish with current be fighting twice as hard

You should try and toss out a gigantic fish head like the one of the carp you caught out there in a bobber one day. That looks like a really good spot for giant alligator gar!

The only reels I own that are that small are at my parents house on my ice-fishing rods. I mostly use my 4000 sized reels when I go catfishing or carp fishing with 40-50 pound Power Pro depending on what they have in stock at the bait store.

Unfortunately my neighborhood has had a lot of earthquakes recently. Micro intensity earthquake. Centered off the south coast.
Although humans cannot feel it, river fish disappear without a trace.
Next time that happens try free spooling. Backreel that fish in and use the rod to fight the fish instead of the reel. Go old school on him.
