Want To See Inside Chewjitsu’s 9000 Sq Ft Gym (Derby City MMA)

- With the gym being unusually quiet I figured I'd take you guys through Derby City MMA and give you a tour. Many of you have asked about this but normally it's very difficult because the gym is super busy.
Throughout the video you'll see where I do my video and how it's not a green screen. You'll see the actual size of my gym which is much larger than most people imagine. Including some back offices and storage areas we have almost 10k square feet.
A couple of things about the video. The mic on the camera made my voice sound a bit deeper than normal. But the video is still good so I posted it.
When you see my original gi in the shadow box you'll hear me say "training full time." What I meant was training BJJ consistently. I bought that gi while I wasn't even training.
Either way, I hope you enjoyed the gym tour and hopefully once this quarantine mess is over you'll be able to come down here and visit.

Your place is awesome! I came by a couple years ago. The couch was by the door then. I sat in the parking lot for like 20 min convincing myself to go inside because I was so nervous lol. First time visiting another gym and I was solo. Only took like 10 min to chill though. You weren’t there but your peoples were super nice and inviting. I’m very glad I joined the class and I look forward to another visit some time. 😁👊🏼

Your CGI guys are working overtime this video. The greenscreen is easy to roto out, but that 3D track was great! Almost looked like Chewy wasn't on the soundstage.

I’ve never seen such a large establishment. Literally everything a hobbyist, athlete and everything in between could ever need. I’ve seen places with barely 5x5 mat space and a tiny desk with one toilet. Our gym is a perfect space for our small town. Considering places around here were training out of loaner space from gyms and even in garages.
If you run some camps this summer, my humble ask is that you advertise it. Its easier to get to Louisville than costa rica

Hey Chewy. Can you do a video on how most boxing gyms are set up? Do I just go in during their hours and than a coach is there to teach me something? Or is it all private lessons? I know 1 gym near me has 2 group classes and than privates all day but the rest of the boxing gyms don't say anything about group classes, they just gives hours of when they're open.

I can’t speak for every gym but I’m 14 in the adult class so In my gym we can do it ,alot of people don’t use it but I love it

I can only speak for the Gracie gym I go to, but any and every style is welcome at my gym. Obviously time and place.. maybe save it for a live roll and not when drilling new techniques the instructor is showing.

Zornhut's Journey dude you are in the Mecca of jiu jitsu. Try finding a place in rural Michigan. No gym is “only for professionals”
I’m referring to having a full MMA gym with as comprehensive a set up as Chewies: 9000 sq feet, a section for boxing with bags, an area dedicated to strength training with Olympic weights, reasonable price, classes that don’t conflict with my work schedule and less than an hours drive. I can’t find anything like that. If you have good recommendations I would honestly love to know where they are. Juijitsu gyms are a dime a dozen out here so there is a ton of garbage to sift through.

I would LOVE to open my own BJJ and MMA gym like this...only issue is my current gym doesnt teach gi BJJ, only no-gi but I really want to teach gi....idk what to do to be able to learn fast enough with gi to open my own gym with it

@@Chewjitsu also while you're here, I was wondering about a situation that I had at my dojo so I recently have graduated to black belt in kajukenpo which is a mix of Kenpo Karate, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, boxing and Tung sudo and one of my sensei's friends which is an instructor in Jiu-Jitsu and is running a grappling tournament invited me to come and I asked what division i should compete in because I don't have a black belt or even a white belt, officially in Jiu-Jitsu he said it was up to me. I don't necessarily know what level of Jiu Jitsu I have definitely not higher than a 1 stripe blue belt but I don't know what I should compete as could you please help me
