  • This is the guitar tab for my cover of Ozzy Osbourne's Revelations (Mother Earth) It is a note for note transcription of the original guitar track.
    I transcribed the track myself and I played and sang everything myself, so this one is all me.
    This is also dedicated to the memory of Randy Rhoads.
    Rest In Peace Brother.
    Revelations Mother Earth was written by: Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoads, and Bob Daisley
    It was release on the 1981 album: Blizzard of Ozz
    The Equipment used in this recording is as follows:
    Slate ML1 Microphone
    The software is Cubase Artist.
    The audio interface is an Axe IO
    The Bass sound was created with a Sire V7, straight into the Axe.
    The Guitars are a Jackson Rhoades RRX24 straight into the Axe. The acoustics are an Alvarez classical handmade by Yairi, and a Alvarez jumbo six string. Amplitube 5 was used for amp emulation.
    Sampletank was used for the electric piano sounds, which were played on a Roland Fantom Keyboard.
    The acoustic piano sounds were from the Grand Rhapsody plug in from Waves, also played on the Fantom.
    All vocals were recorded with the Slate ML1
    Ozone 9 was used for mastering.
    The video, and the recording, were produced by Abraham Myers.

    I swear Randy was really able to shine with Ozzy, especially on this song. I could listen to it on repeat over and over and never get tired of it. The most epic Ozzy song of his career as far as i'm concerned and the best guitarist Ozzy was lucky enough to share a stage with. And the fact that Randy could simply kill it live goes to show his intense dedication to his craft. Unlike any guitarist before or after ever.

    • @ThePickingPythagorean
      @ThePickingPythagorean  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah, Randy was the best. It's hard to imagine how many great songs he and Ozzy could have written had he lived. And the way the tragedy happened, so sad. At least we have him on record and some live stuff. But I definitely miss him.

      @@ThePickingPythagorean I know that when he was in quiet riot he wasn't appreciated. From what i've read, they didn't like his solo and lead work very much.

    • @ThePickingPythagorean
      @ThePickingPythagorean  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah, he really didn't get a ton of appreciation in his lifetime. He was so on the forefront of cutting edge guitar, that nobody realized how advanced he was. Very classically influenced.

      @ThePickingPythagorean  Před měsícem

      Thank you!!! Yeah, it has a lot of different parts, and the solo is far from easy. It was definitely classically inspired. Sounds a lot more like Bach than metal, but that was Randy's genius. He brought that classical inspired songwriting to metal.

    Amazing job! I have always wanted to learn this song, but it was always out of reach. I’m going to watch this a few hundred more times and keep taking it one piece at a time. I’m trying to learn more about theory now as well. Thinking this was all in E minor, but I see it has E major as well as a B flat in some of those verses which is really interesting. Anyway, very cool!

    • @ThePickingPythagorean
      @ThePickingPythagorean  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Jarrod!!!! Yeah man, just slow down the video if it gets too crazy. That's the best way to learn this kind of a tune. It's quite difficult, so take it slow and realize that it's a huge accomplishment to play a song like this even slowed down.
      And yeah, it has some strange chord progressions. That Em progression is the main one, but the bridge goes, as you said, from E Major to Bb Major, which works in a very dark way due to the fact that Bb is the flatted fifth of E giving it a diminished sound. Randy was pretty amazing with his use of theory.
      I'm really glad you're loving the video, and hopefully I'll have some more Ozzy eventually. I love the Ozzman!!!!!
