I was terrified of this giant purple gorilla who'd chase you in a creepy closed toy store. The creepy goose with grandpas teeth in its mouth, the mr. Friend toys you fought in the basement, and Theres a creepy mr. Friend mummy hidden deep in the pyramid in the golf minigame. And the music was horrific in most of these situations.

    There's a moment of existential horror in the Protoss mini-campaign in Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty.
    You rescue a squad of troops at one point by powering a structure that had been shut down while they'd been teleporting to the battle through it. They're happy to get back into the fight, but the battle they'd been trying to get to was _ten years ago._ What's worse, they were fully aware of what was going on that whole time.

    Oh man, Endless Ocean. That brings me back. I've always loved the ocean and marine life, and that game might've been one of the catalysts for that. And it definitely belongs on a list like this, because as relaxing and beautiful as the ocean is, it's also somehow even more terrifying than the emptiness of space. But forget the creepy idol that gives you a new hair color, I've got one better: The Abyss. You swim down into the deepest, darkest, most empty place on the planet. The only thing you have is a flashlight that can only illuminate a foot or two in front of you, and a magical wetsuit that someone prevents the water pressure from immediately crushing all of your organs. When you're in total darkness and completely vulnerable, that's bad enough. But when you're encountering things like goblin sharks and giant squids while the default music randomly jumpscares you, that's much worse. Don't get me started on the sequel.
    When don't need to conjure up something like Subnautica. The real ocean has enough terror already.

    For me, trying to sneak past Dark Bramble's anglerfish in Outer is one of the scariest things I have ever done in a game because the anglerfish are big enough to swallow your spaceship whole, and they have incredibly acute hearing despite being blind, meaning that if you try to rush past them, you're just gonna die

    I’m legitimately surprised you didn’t mention the meat circus level in Psychonauts as well, that level always haunts my dreams. Not only are u in a circus of meat, but you’re also being constantly followed by the spectral form of Raz’s dad who constantly repeats the word “Rasputin” in an eerie voice, not only that but the second to last bossfight you have with the coaches father, the butcher which I still find absolutely terrifying… then it gets even worse when u fight him the second time as he’s now combined with Raz’s dad. But at least in the final phase you get to grow giant and beat the crap out of him.

    I know I'm a year late to the party, but you should 100% make a remake of this video and include the Outer Wilds Dark Bramble. You can go look it up on Wikipedia, but to explain it bluntly, it's an empty white void with some weird vines growing. "Empty", except for the mountain-sized blind anglerfish that will screech and eat you. The anglerfish just fade in through the white fog, and you immediately know that you messed up when you see the bulb. The first time I saw that I ABSOLUTELY FREAKED OUT OF MY MIND. Great video btw!

    Why do they say that Pokemon: Lets Go is a reimagining of Pokemon Red and Blue, when it's basically a remaster of Pokemon: Yellow?

    • @autobotstarscream765
      @autobotstarscream765 Před 3 lety +2

      1) It's a combination, they based it on Yellow then split it up into two versions based on Red and Blue/Green
      2) Yellow is treated by Game Freak more like the canon version of Red and Blue than its own entity (in games _other_ than LGPE, Red uses a team based on Yellow)
      3) All official Kanto games this far are the same basic scenario as Red and Blue, including Yellow itself and thus LGPE for following Yellow, so games journalists tend to put them all in one box instead of separating them into distinct entities by their differences
