Your presentation style is great. All real, with no fake hype that wears a person out. Great player, great teacher.
That means a lot. Thank you very much.
Completely agree 👍
OMG Yes!!! I love the presentation. I'm being hyped up, I'm just being taught and it's working. I'm already upping my game. My only complaint is that there are not more lessons yet. Thanks for all your help Mr. Rich! Guadalajara, Mexico
Thank you so much Mr Brown, you are really increasing our knowledge in bass skills, God bless you so much
this is how a seasoned teacher and a bassist teaches
You're such an engaging, natural, generous, gifted teacher.
Aww thanks, Lisa. That means a lot. Nice to hear from you.
Hello from the Bahamas
One of the best teachers I've ever seen on the net.
Greetings from Tijuana
Picked the bass up 7 months ago and I’m struggling, but came across your videos a week ago and it’s helping me understand. I’ve watch 3 videos and have learned a lot. Even tho your “slow playing” is fast for me lol, somehow I’m able to keep up. You have an excellent way of getting the point across, so beginners like myself can learn and apply. Keep sharing it’s definitely appreciate.
Thank you so much, Carlanto. Your comment means a lot. I'm doing the best I can to address everyone at every skill level. I'm so happy to know that these videos help you even in some small way. That's important to me. Thank you very much for watching!
Rich what an authentic reply. You are a great teacher and a great person!
@@Miami_99 Wow! Thanks very much, Jeff.😊
Been playing 40 yrs & learn something very time I tune in.
@@naturecurry1331 I love that. Thank you.
Hello all the way from south Africa
Since I started following this channel when I play the bass I get much positive comments they "like man you improved" thank you so much Rich
I love this. Thank you so much. It always makes me happy to know these videos are helping. All the best! 🙏🏾
Wow! Being an avid student of music theory,I just now realized why what you're saying is true. It is because the G minor scale is the relative minor of the B flat major scale, which means that the pentatonics for both scales contain the exact same notes, just in a different order. The light bulb went off; just wondered why I hadn't figured this out myself before. This fact would have been worth mentioning in the video. Thanks for the great videos. By the way, your voice is magic
This is A GEM!!! Too many bassist doesn't know this secret, thank you for sharing mr. Brown! Blessings from Indonesia
My pleasure! Thank you very much for watching.
Best on line teacher period!
That's VERY high praise. Thanks very much, Jon!🙏🏾

Thank you so much, Fernando! The double bass is such a different animal. I don't know how you all do it, but I love it. All the best to you.
Thank you so much for pouring into this channel. You’re not just gifted in musical talent but have a genuine heart to share so others can grow. This lesson really connect the dots and helped me break out of root note thumping and develop my first sense of pentatonic groove. God bless!
This message means a lot. Thank you so much. I'm so happy to know these video can help someone even in the smallest way. All the best.🙏🏾

🤣 When you describe it sounds easy but when you demonstrate it, sounds like a 3rd year physics exam🤣-
As an intermediate beginner it goes pretty fast for me but when I watched it a few times I get the idea! I love your videos!
Hey my friend , I'm Ben. I live in Oklahoma. Love your videos man , very grateful to you . Thank you
Great lesson! Hi from Syracuse. Talking about soloing and keeping the groove immediately makes me think of Willie Weeks’ solo on “Everything is Everything” from Donny Hathaway Live. A perfect example of this exercise. Thanks, Rich!
Thanks, Jay! Much appreciated, brother. Fun fact: I had the chance to hang out with Michael McDonald one night. We had a great time, and at the end of the night, he told me I totally reminded him of Willie Weeks. Even asked if we were somehow related. Ha! (We're not, btw.)
@@richbrownbass Whoa! That’s a huge compliment and from a legend nonetheless! I’m sure Willie would be flattered by the comparison too. Thanks for the great lesson.
Hi greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬 thank you for making our bass world easier in learning
Amazing! Thank you very much, brother Makubuya.
Wow! finally someone who teaches the bass like it is supposed to be taught. Your method of teaching is very easy to comprehend and understand. I love the bass, i fell in love with the instrument and want to soak up as much as i can and truly learn the bass both inside and out. wow if you were my bass teacher in real life that would just be awesome. I would be good before ya know it. keep it up, you are doing a phenomenal job
Simple is a good word. Too many confuse simple with easy, and they are NOT. Playing simple is difficult because there is NOTHING to hide behind. Nice quotation of The Chicken. ;) This was a great lesson. Respect.
I'm from Kenya, I'm left handed so I'm learning bass playing it upside down and I learn new concepts from here.🇰🇪💙

I am watching a lecture in South Korea and I think it is a very useful lecture. So thank you very much. More lectures please. I want your channel to develop greatly
Brilliant teaching.
I think the way you explain that is good. My English is not that good but I still understand everything. You speak moderately and clearly and keep your explanation simple. That's probably why we foreigners watch your videos.
Thank you so much, Mica. That's very important to me. And thank you for watching.
Great lesson, Rich!
1hr past midnight...🤯 Was laying in bed trying to go to sleep but now I've gotta get my headphones and bass. My mind is going 100mph now! This plus that 3 and 4 note sequential degree exercise on the pentatonics have helped sooo much! 😭 ngl 🙏🏿
Rich, this is pure gold thank you so much. I was aware of major/relative minor, and I have drilled the various shapes for each. But this is the first time anyone has explained that if you use the shapes in a very specific order, then you can fly up and down the fretboard like it's nothing. Add in the blue note for each scale and you can say a lot. I can think of at least one bass player for a popular funk band that has made an entire career out of doing exactly this.
Thank you so much for your tips, I'm great full
You keep blessing me.
Love an respect from germany🙏🏻Keep going
I am in! Nice clear, and inspiring! great performance!

Wow……. Super super cool with the 3 pentatonic shapes. Will be trying that grove and working pentatonic scale around it.
Thank you 🙏🏻 Sir
I like the way you present a basic exercise, and then, build on it in several more videos. This gives me the information to allow me to actually USE it in my playing. Thank you...
Just had a "WOW" moment...Thank you Sir!!!

Wow mind blowing! I've been playing for a while but I feel like I'm in a rut when it comes to progressing... This has opened things up for me. Thank you sir, much love all the way from Cape Town, South Africa

It's my pleasure. Thank you very much for watching.
Hello from Vermont. Thank you for your videos. I’ve been a working bass player for 30 years and while I’m super comfy playing bass lines in the pocket or groove, soloing has always been my Achilles heal. Your videos are perfect. Thank you.
Crazy! Thank you for clearing this up. Honestly, the best explanation/tutorial I've ever seen. I've struggled(more than struggled) with transitioning through the groove using the whole neck. And you just one video, and I get it. Thank you
Wow! That means a lot, Joseph. Thank you so much.
It's great coming across your videos. I found them extremely helpful. Keep the good job!
Been playing for a very long time and studied with great teachers, like Lincoln goines and jerry jermont, but you explain things perfect and easy to understand. Keep up the good work
