Great retrospective of the unlimited blade works route man, it truly shows how much to offer even 1/3rd of FSN can have on people.
Fate route probably had by far the most impact on me, as it embodies a lot of what you said but also with it's own twist. Unlike Rin who comes at shirou with her own worldview and mindset which cannot stand shirous way of life, Arturia clashes with Shirou in the opposite manner as they are pretty much mirror images of each other.
It's this similarity which causes them to clash with one another as they can see what the other does wrong but refuse to admit until the climax of the story that they share the same complexes that they want the other to change. Ubw itself enhances the fate route in retrospect, once you learn who archer is, and the circumstances of his fall
Love this. Only reason I don't make a vid on the Saber route is cause it desperately needs some Unlimited Budget Works love ;(

@@ArkNeuron id recommend the vn...fate stay night 2006 was what got me into fate as a whole way back in high school in the mid 2000s. But even with my nostalgic feelings for it, it's clear for me it misses critical points to the fate route that make it come together, in addition to not doing some of the most important bits justice.
That last chapter, not only do I completely agree, but the delivery was beautiful. 10s across the board.

It's really weird not only to have a Fate UBW review in 2023, but also a good one. someone who finally doesn't just dunk on Shirou because "Kiritsugu had a more realistic ideal" or talking about how unused half the characters are (because they're meant for other routes). It really gives me hope that more people will finally just start to understand the story and characters, and not just hop to the bandwagon of opinions
Lucky for you buddy, I abhor bandwagons. Plus, UBW's a show I'd like to see a resurgence of, among others ;)
Funny cause Kiritsugu's ideal isn't even realistic either. His methods are practical but his goal is not

Roughly. Fate already has a wild streak when it comes to copyright, but for some reason, this one was detecting video clips and catching it, even though it got clipped the same way I normally do it. I'll prob try to go back and fix it again, cause I want to upload it, but I'm gonna wait a bit, cause it's gonna take a while to fix.
Gigguk really did a lot of damage to the perception of Fate, making it look like you gotta know who Kuguya is and the warring clans period to understand Naruto, or type-moons with the root and servants and true magic. The worst part is he even acknowledge his joke falls apart once you do your research on the supplementary material or read the visual novels.
Also Sakura is the true end game.

Fate and its associated materials are pretty great stuff. I first got into it with Fate/Zero back some time in 2012 I think it was. From there I watched the 2006 Deen anime which, while not perfect by any means, gets a bit of an unfair reputation I think. It's certainly worth at least giving it a watch if you haven't already, and at the moment it's the only anime adaptation of the Fate route that we have. If you're really feeling bold I would highly recommend giving the visual novel a go, as it does really fill things out quite a bit compared to what any anime adaptation is going to give you. It is fairly lengthy, taking 70+ hours to get all the way through, but it is absolutely worth it if you don't mind reading. There is also a sequel visual novel, called Fate/Hollow Ataraxia which takes place after the Fifth Holy Grail War, though it doesn't follow after any one specific route.
You said you could watch Saber eating sandwiches all day? I don't know if you've seen it, but there is a spinoff series that aired a good while back titled: Today's Menu for the Emiya Family which is literally just a show about the Stay Night cast getting together over meals. It even goes into detail about how to cook the different meals that get showcased in each episode.
A few anime recommendations for you: Madoka Magica, which is a magical girl series written by Gen Urobuchi, the same author behind Fate/Zero. It's anime original, and only 12 episodes long plus a sequel movie called Rebellion. I can't say too much about it since it is a very spoiler sensitive show, but what I can say is that it made some pretty huge waves when it aired back in 2011. Since you watched 86, I'll recommend Code Geass, which is a mecha anime following Lelouch Lamperouge, an exiled prince who gets his hands on a supernatural power granting him the ability to force anyone to obey his commands regardless of their will.
